It was a relief when her nightmares were becoming less frequent, the terrors of insanity and what they could do to one's self beginning to subside. Poke was not one to let herself be intimidated by anyone or anything, but when the intimating force was something that could control her...yeah, it was hard to get over.
But on one night as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, the dragoness found herself inside a dream that was nothing like her usual nightmares, or her dreams for that matter. She was inside a building that was neither scary nor intimidating. It was...strange, to say the least. It was a spacious area with glowing lights everywhere, with lots of gadgets and gizmos she had never seen before. Overhead there was a large platform, with lots more complicated looking items. And as she turned around, a strange vehicle whizzed past her. It was like a broomstick that was made from a hunk of metal with glowing parts.
"Awesome, isn't it?"
The sudden voice had the dragoness whizzing around, though she hardly believed what she was seeing. Before her stood a almost identical version of herself. They both had the same features, the same intrigued but wary expressions as they analysed the other. What marked the difference was the strange clothing she wore, white being the dominant colour with shades of brown from the little gears and cogs that decorated her outfit.
To the others question, the original nodded. "Yeah, it's pretty cool...whatever this place is."
"This place, is a space ship called Feirg."
"A space ship?" Poke replied, perplexed by the idea. "I know about ships, but this doesn't look like any ship I've ever seen. Where are the sails, and the anchor even?"
The other poke laughed at her original's lack of understanding. "This ship doesn't sail on the sea, but in the very depths of space. It doesn't need any sails or anchors, Just a engine"
"A ship that sales in space..." The very idea sounded far fetched. "Er, I'll take your word for it. But on a more important note, who are you? Because I'm pretty sure this is some sort of bizarre dream, considering I'm talking to myself here. Are you my conscience?"
"Not really." The other replied. "I'm a fragment, a small piece of your memory that was taken and placed in another world. What you see before you is...well, was, the kingdom of white. There were six other kingdoms, and we were all pitted against each other to see which of our kings would be the true king. Essentially we got royally ******** over by the voice."
"The voice?"
"Some omnipresent god thing, I don't really know." She sighed, her expression changing to one of frustration as she appeared to recall something unpleasant. "It ordered us to fight for it's sick games, and at the very end it tried to destroy everything...damn it just pisses me off thinking about it. Knowing just how easily I was overpowered."
"Ghoul, you're preaching to the choir." Because Poke knew exactly how it felt to be fighting against someone who was much stronger then her.
Her duplicate smirked. "Well, I'm glad we're on the same page. Because I have a request that only you can do."
"A request? What kind of request are we talking about?"
The other Poke's smirk changed into a frown, her eyes boring into the other. "I want to keep fighting, Pokerus." She said. When the original appeared confused, she continued on. "My world is gone, my kingdom is obliterated. There is nothing left but me and my memories. But even so, I refuse to fade away into nothing. I want to keep on living..." Her voice tapered off into a growl. hands clenching into fists as she sought to control her rage. The original stood there, feeling her own anger rising in response. The voice sounded like a horrible being, and she was loathed to let anything mess around with her....or someone that looked like her anyway.
"What do I have to do?" She asked.
"Just stand there, really." Her copy walked towards her, appearing a little relieved. "I just need to show you my memories. That allows me to become you."
"You mean like a fusion?"
"Not exactly, but close enough. You'll still be you, but I'll be part of you. So I'll be becoming you in a sense."
"Er...right." She had no idea what was going on, but she was willing to go with it.
Once the other one had approached, she raised her hand, fist clenched and grinning from ear to ear. It didn't take long for Poke to realize what she meant, and with a smile she raised her own fist, bumping the other's in a friendly gesture. The dream began to faze out, but not before she began to see strange visions. She saw the vast endlessness of space behind a window, felt the jolting force of the ship crashing down on a foreign planet, and the buzz of excitement when she felt the power behind a large metal tube firing a blast.
