Jason stumbled into his small dorm room, completely exhausted but feeling a small sense of happiness. In his arms he held a grubby looking box that had been opened, containing a bright new clean coat. A intermediate coat to be exact. His promotion had been rather bizarre not to mention life-threatening, but somehow he had come out on top. Not to mention two other hunters, including Solia. He took a moment to think about what she would look like with the new coat on her small, slender body, before he put the box down and took off his old coat and threw it on the floor. Right now all he wanted was some good, restfull sleep. Hopefully he wouldn't have any nightmares during his sleep either. The thought brought a sad sigh from him; for a guy who could be freaked out by his own shadow, nightmares were a common occurrence. He decided to hope that he wouldn't have dreams of flesh eating dogs. That seemed reasonable...maybe.
Flopping onto the bed, the moon trainee was asleep within seconds.
------------------
It was bright, that was for certain. He had to shield his eyes for a moment to allow them to adjust. Once he did, he opened them further to drink in the wonderful sight. A golden castle stood before him, it's peaks rising high into the sky. All around him were gold buildings as well, the light reflecting off them was almost blinding. He could see people dressed in fine clothing walking past each of them carrying themselves with a sense of pride and confidence.
He was so caught up in the sights of the gold kingdom, that he didn't see the figure next to him as he whistled, clearly impressed with the buildings as well.
"Damn, I thought demons were good at showing off their wealth, but this place?" Zanthvos held a hand up to shield his eyes. "This takes the cake." He then turned to see the moon trainee's shocked face, obviously amused at the reaction he was getting. "Why Jason, you act as if you've never seen me before!"
"That's because..." he began to say but stopped, his gaze straying elsewhere. Not far from him another man stood in black clothing lined with gold, the colour matching his short black hair, It also made his bright red eyes all the more noticeable. And when the man looked his way, his amused expression was a mirror image of Zanthvos. Jason had to look around to make sure the fallen angel was right next to him. The only difference between him and the other was the lack of wings.
The fallen angel appeared quite amused at this, wasting no time to strike over to his mirror copy with Jason following as well.
"Well, hello handsome!" His arms held out wide, and the other recuperated the gesture as they both gave each a grandiose hug.
"And a hello to you too, good looking." He winked, and Zanth was already swooning. Jason was beginning to wonder if he was stuck in a nightmare with two Zanthvos, when a slight cough made him look around.
He yelped in shock.
"GAH!"
"Woah woah, take it easy!" The other Jason's hand reached out to steady him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you." It looked like he also had a duplicated, though instead of the white coat, his was also wearing black lined with gold.
"That's...alright..." With a whole bunch of snickering coming in the background, he managed to calm down. "Umm...I'm going to take a guess...but you are me, right?
His duplicate smiled awkwardly. and Jason had the feeling he was looking into a mirror.
"It's a little more complicated, but the simple answer would be yes. I am you, but I'm not the real you."
"Not the real me?" Jason repeated, trying to understand what he meant. "I'm not sure I follow..."
"What I am is a tiny part of your being. A fragment." He began to explain. "I was created along with this kingdom you see. There are seven kingdoms in all, all having their own set of kings as well. We were all chosen to fight, to defend them so that our king may become the true king. Alas..." His face fell. "We were fooled, and now..." He sighed, appearing forlorn. "I was nearly destroyed, and so was Zanthvos, but somehow we're still here."
"That's..." Jason began, unsure of what to say to such a tragic story. But his duplicate was stepping closer, and it appeared he had more to say,
"I've come to ask a favour of you." He said. "I know it will sound strange, and I will understand if you want to refuse, but I'd..." he paused, glancing back at the un-winged Zanthvos who had separated from the other and was watching on with interest. He looked back to Jason and began again. "We'd like to become part of you."
"Part of us?" Now it was Jason's turn to look back at his partner, who shrugged. For once he didn't know what was going on either. He turned back. "What would happen to you if you don't?"
There was a slow pause. "We would just fade away, I guess."
The moon trainee frowned. He had no idea if this was some weird dream he was having, but he was sure this wasn't some fake. It was him, or some weird version of him, and he couldn't let the other Jason disappear.
"I wont let that happen" He said boldly to the other, and the fragment's expression lifted, his eyes full of gratitude.
"Thankyou..." He said, and the both turned to see the fallen angel laughing, embracing his copy once more. It was clear he wasn't about to let his duplicate fade away either. And as Jason turned back, he was greeted by a hug by the other, the move jolting him into consciousness.
