OOC: This is the recruitment/joining RP for Chaka's team of soldiers. All soldiers welcome, no need to have previously applied, just show up if you like! Full info here!
Set a few days prior to the events of the Coming Storms Event RP to keep rain-related excitement to a minimum. No major RP interaction is necessary, if you don't care to strike up a conversation, just arrive and wait for Chaka to address everybody!
It was about a week after Shisa first suggested that Chaka had the reputation and enough regular training partners to have the viable start to a military unit of his own. Since then, the Battlemaster had been thinking about how it would affect him to seek a promotion like that. It would be a big adjustment to shift his focus to the kinds of responsibilities entrusted to a Captain. But none of that was worth thinking about if he didn't actually have the support he needed to get anywhere. So, that was the next step.
He spent his morning making rounds in the Training Grounds, inviting any interested soldiers to meet with him by the Oasis in the afternoon. He was given enough positive feedback to feel some confidence following through with the plan, so he waited on the Training Ground side of the Oasis for any that takers. Shisa and Inina were somewhere nearby but not directly involved, just how Chaka wanted it.

Kero showed up, promptly on time and ready. It had been a pleasant surprise to have been approached about this, but ultimately it was the knowledge that joining this venture would help her further hone her skills that had decided her. Her life had settled into a regular routine that involved eating, sleeping, and training. She still felt woefully unmatched with the larger and more experienced Firekin that had been born into the pride, but if she had her way, this would be her chance to catch up.
She took a seat very nearly front and center of the waiting captain-to-be, meeting his eyes steadily and waiting for what he would have to say. She didn't expect familiar small-talk, and thus knew she'd need to wait while others arrived, for she most certainly could not be alone in taking advantage of this offer. She turned finally to regard the male who had arrived before her and gave him a curt but polite nod.

Roho had always wanted to feel as if she belonged. For so long it seemed that the Hongshan had been viewed as a weak link. Perhaps some even blamed them for the Nergui and their appearance. And whilst she was proud of her heritage and would never forget the people from her former life, she also wanted to make herself worthy here. Wanted to prove herself.
She was a hard worker, no one could deny that. A little too serious, yes. A little too hard on herself, certainly. But she was dedicated and loyal and no one could ever accuse her of being lazy or a slacker. Roho would pull her weight. Would work well as part of a team and she'd make sure that no one ever regretted that she was there by their side in a battle.
Thus, when she'd heard whispers of a team forming, this female had jumped at the opportunity. She knew Chaka by reputation, mostly. He was the only Battlemaster in the pride, which meant he was an experienced duellist. Serving in his team would be an honour and an incredible opportunity that she would have been a fool to cast aside. And that was why she was there today, hoping to be included in what would be - as far as she was concerned - one of the best units that would make up the Firekin army.
As she drew nearer, she saw some were already there. None of them were particularly familiar to her, though she did recognise one or two faces. She was even mildly surprised to see Ruber there - the lion whom she had duelled when he had been a rogue looking to join.
Stepping lightly up to join the group she offered them a nod and opened her mouth---
---only to be shoved aside by a young female, relatively new to her adult paws.
"Yo, bitches!" She called out haughtily, full of fire and crackling energy as she sauntered into the middle of the group. "The waiting is over. I'm here now, so let the party begin."
Ironic, really, that her very name meant 'wildfire'. She certainly lived up to it.
Kalimoto had officially crashed this gathering.

Safi'lipuka spent a lot of time in the training grounds these days, despite the fact that she was a guard by trade. Since the uncertainty began, Safi had taken up training with her mother, sharpening her skills as a fighter, rather than a guard. She had been rather surprised to realise that ...she liked it. She honestly enjoyed fighting.
It was a challenge though, as she was still new to this way of life, which was why when she heard the idea of joining a unit...well...what better way to learn?
She approached the oasis quietly, looking at the others who had gathered too, and firming her stance. She could do this.
She looked towards Chaka, and waited.

Nasiha was last to arrive, almost reluctant to come at first- especially when Mtenga refused to join her. She wanted to be a part of a team, to improve her skill and get out of whatever little shadow she'd been hiding in for so long. And so she decided to come anyway, even without a familiar face by her side.. but she came at the very last minute. The crowd seemed quiet enough and it became apparent as she approached that they were, for the most part, waiting to be addressed.
"Hm," she murmured, taking a place at the edge of the group.
Chaka stayed at the front of the group, his expression unchanging even as rowdier members arrived. He recognized the great majority of them, spotting a few former apprentices and many family members, close and distant. After Nasiha arrived, there was a silence that he took to mean it was time to speak, and finally he smiled. This was a tiny fraction of the great pride they lived in but he was confident it was a very good one.
"Well, it looks like we're all here," he said, sound far more confident than he truly felt- he wasn't a public speaker, but this was an opportunity for him to grow as well and in a different way than his normal training, "I hope that you all know what you're getting into, we're all here because we want to improve."
He looked from one end of the group to the other, and glanced out beyond them where he had spotted his sister lurking, watching. There was no telling what she thought from here, or if she could even hear him.
"I will make sure that happens."
With that, he stepped down into the group to begin sorting through the crowd. The best way to become acquainted in this situation was to begin training right away, they had to get a taste of what they were in for. He hesitated only a second but then got down to business.
Fin!
