Lazarus was resting under the soft light of the rising sun, at peace with all the world. The lilting notes of birds returning from their winter travels, the young shoots peeping out of the snow, and the warm rays of dawn all heralded the coming spring, and Lazarus was more than ready to embrace the season’s return.
He felt no need for tricks today, nor company, and when a gentle breeze teased him to go, he willingly obliged. After tucking his lantern into his cloth, he unfurled his wings and took off.

Ah the suns rays, how long had it been since Maddox last felt them, 2 days or was it two weeks? This winter was so bitter and gray that when a day like this comes around you don't laze around on your rump and just watch it go by. The stallion grinned as he unfurled his wings, oh man did that ever feel good, they tingled with anticipation! With a mighty leap into the air they only had to pump hard a few times before he was soaring with the birds.

It was hard to visualize the vastness of the skies. Unlike land, it worked in three dimensions rather than two, and all who took to the air would eventually have to return to earth again. Thus it was that Lazarus seldom met anyone or anything during such travels, and the pink and blue form of a soquili in the distance came as a surprise to him.
The two appeared to be going in the same direction and before long they were within shouting distance of one another. He didn't call, however; he merely dipped his head in companionable acknowledgement, assuming the stallion would not expect more.

Maddox glanced behind him at a dark figure that seemed to be catching up to him. Horns but it had feathered wings, hmm if it wanted to hurt him it would have tried to by now. Not knowing what else to make of the stallion Maddox soared on through the crisp chilled air. All the same he kept a tab on the male at all times.
