She laughed a bit as she listened to him and agreed in some points. "Well, then again I know that Vossler wouldn't mind me and knows I can take care of myself. I guess that is why he had been taking notes about me from before we went to his estate." she stopped with a smile at Ace and then walked with him. She could tell that there was something on his mind, but she didn't have to ask because he spoke again. "Well... no I haven't been to any place before... It has been my first time to be in the 'human' world.... She stopped for a moment looking down before looking at Ace. "Um... Ace.... There is something you need to know. All the people that I have arrived with know this, but I haven't been trying to hide it from you either." she stated before walking again. "I am from the west lands. I am also not human, per-say, I am a wolf." She looked at his reaction before looking around. "I do love it here though and it is peaceful. That I am happy about."

The watch Officer at the Military Communications Headquarters (MCHQ) building in the capital of Konigsburgh was just about to go for lunch when the telephone on his desk started to ring. He looked at for a moment, weighing up whether to answer it or ignore it and go for lunch. With a sigh he walked over to his desk and picked up the receiver. 'Watch Officer MCHQ....'
'Sir, it's Sergeant Anders down in the Telegraph room, you'd better come down here.'
'Sergeant I am just about to go to lunch, ring me again in an hour.' The watch Officer replied, irritated that this was delaying him from his food.
'Sir, you need to get down here now, I think the Chief of Naval Intelligence just declared Condition Violet and enacted Valkyrie'
The watch Officer dropped the receiver, his face pale with shock. Valkyrie was the code name for measures put into place in the event that Aes was about to be attacked, it called for a full mobilization of the Aesian Military and reserve forces, the closing of borders, restriction of non military travel within the country and a total no fly zone for non military aircraft. Aes was effectively on lock-down. Additional to this, condition Violet meant that the High Commander was presumed dead.
The watch Officer bolted out his office and ran down to the telegraph room and was greeted with a room full of anxious people. He walked over to the floor supervisor, the Sergeant who had just telephoned him. 'Give me the message!'
He took a moment to read the telegraph and check the authentication numbers, it was real. He took a deep breath and turned to his staff.
'The message is authentic, pass this message to all relevant authorities and enact Valkyrie protocols. Call in the next shift, they need to be here now. It's going to be a long night people, you will not be going home tonight.Call the cookhouse and have them send lunch up to us we need everyone at their posts.' The telephonist staff looked at each other in disbelief for a moment before the spell wore off and they sat back at their desks and began passing the message along to other Government departments.
Across the city at the Militia Headquarters the Lord-Justice was handed a folder, he opened it and read the message inside. He stood for a moment shocked at what he was reading before sense took hold of him and picked up the phone. 'Valkyrie is in effect, this is not a drill.' Within seconds alarms were blaring and the militia poured out of their stations and began locking down the streets and setting up roadblocks.
At Military depots across Aes soldiers were pilling into armored vehicles and tanks. Soon large convoys of military vehicles were heading to staging areas near the borders awaiting further orders.
The Grand fleet, harbored in Port Stanley, began making preparations for putting to sea and the Air Flotilla began patrolling the border of Aesian airspace, the 2nd Air fleet made its way to the border with Lucidus Magus, they were to rendezvous with the carrier Dragons Teeth as it retreated from the floating Island.

Luci arrived in Aes with a somber face. She had been supplied with a brand new air craft and was making her way towards her next destination. She had to find the person next in charge after Vossler. Anyone.
The Lucidus Magus Peace Coalition was going frantic with everything that has been happening lately. Luci, although saddened by these events, knew she had to try and make things right. Normally the coalition would force her to go, and even though she had made it back home not too long ago, she volunteered to go.
How did everything end up this way? She said taking her hat off, letting all of her hair fall down. She sighed heavily.

Vice-Admiral Hugo Monmouth Naval Intelligence Aesian airport of IllumThe Dragons Teeth slid in to airdock at the Flotilla base at Illum, close to midnight. There was little pomp and ceremony as the behemoth tied off and the gantries were lowered. Monmouth was first off the ship, excusing himself and thanking the Captain for the hospitality. He and his staff made their way to an awaiting convoy of armored cars, from the dockside they were whisked through the streets under Militia escort, lights flashing and sirens wailing. They headed to the train station where a military train waited for them. Monmouth boarded the train and took a seat in a large dark green leather chesterfield. He had hardly slept on the journey back and he was exhausted. 'How long before we reach Konigsburgh?' He asked one of his aides. 'About 3 hours sir.'Monmouth yawned and stretched out, 'Wake me when we arrive.' He instructed before settling down and drifting off to sleep. His adjutant had the staff clear out into another car and carefully draped a blanket over the Vice Admiral before he himself retreated to the car where the rest of the staff were assembled. 'Ok people, we have a few hours to prepare everything before we arrive in the Capital. I want all arrival preparations sorted in the next half hour and I want all the necessary documents the Vice Admiral is going to need typed up and in a dossier on my desk no later than an hour before we arrive.'SIR! look at this!' One of the communications officers shouted from the other side of the room, he had just been handed a telegraph from one of the soldiers who manned the communications car, (fitted with a plethora of radio transmit/receive sets and scanning devices) He handed over the document to the Adjutant. It was an intercepted transmission from the Sovereign Public News feed confirming the death of Lord Commander Vossler and his swift burial in Lucidus Magus. 'Oh no, they didn't...There's going to be public outrage about this.'He looked at the staff, as he passed the message round, the reactions were a mixture of disbelief and rage. The Lord Commander was to be given a State burial to have him interred on foreign soil was a grave insult to the Aesian nation. With relations already strained between the nations this could be the spark that ignites a war. The Adjutant cleared his throat, 'Alright, we've already enacted Valkyrie and condition violet, so the militia will handle the public unrest over this. What we need to do is ready ourselves for the struggle ahead, there will be a power grab to succeed the Lord Commander. Naval Intelligence needs to know what's going to happen before it happens. Aes is vulnerable as our nations eyes will be focussed inward as we recover from this heavy blow. Make sure our operatives abroad are aware of what is at stake, and make sure our people in Aes are alert as well. Whichever decision the Vice Admiral takes I want him to have as much information at hand as possible. For now let him sleep, he's been up for three days straight.' He reached into his briefcase and produced a dossier, 'This is a list of contacts we must contact immediately, you'll find their codenames, contact details and the coded message they need to be sent. This is our highest priority, so get to it!'The train hurtled through the city of Illum even during the small hours of the morning the place was usually a hub of activity, yet the streets were deserted now, Vallkyrie had closed the streets to traffic and only a few people roamed the streets now. The militia kept a close eye out making sure main roads were kept clear for military traffic, they regularly stopped civilians in the streets, checking their papers. The train soon left the city and the countryside loomed into view, the gentle rolling fields looked ominous in the dark with shadows playing tricks on the mind. Monmouth slept, so exhausted that he never even took off his boots.

Luci looked out of her window seeing Aes. She decided to land her airship outside of the faction, as to not cause any kind of confusion or trouble. After she landed she took a second to gather her things in her bag and gather her thoughts. She had spoken to many outraged faction leaders, but this was different and she felt more nervous than usual.
She stepped out of her ship and started walking towards the city, about two miles away. After a little bit of walking she had made it to the Aes train station. She procceded to leave the train station when she was stopped by some Aesian soldiers asking for her papers.
Papers? No... I... I don't have any. I'm here to see the person in charge. I need to speak to them. She said feeling more and more anxious. The soldiers chuckled at her remark and told her to leave. Luci's anxiety was quickly replaced with irritation. Look this is really important. She said feeling her temperture rise.

Naval Intelligence Operative Konigsburgh Main Train StationThe young man, dressed in a smart black frock-coat with a silver Naval Intelligence pin in his lapel approached the checkpoint, he flashed his I.D. at the guards who shrugged and walked back to their posts. 'Ma'am, I am from Aesian Naval Intelligence, I understand you're here under a matter of great importance. Please come with me, I will escort you to someone more qualified to listen to your information.'He gently, but firmly guided the foreigner back into the station and towards a train that had only just pulled in. Vice Admiral Hugo Monmouth Naval Intelligence Aesian Capital City - Konisgburgh
The train pulled into the city and Monmouth awoke from the first sleep he'd had in 3 days. On the table next to his chair was a dossier with a note saying "For your immediate attention". He picked up the file and began to read, he would have about ten minutes before the staff car would be ready. He muttered when he read the report confirming the death and burial of the late High Commander Vossler, 'Stupid child, look at the mess you've created'He skimmed through the dossier, just to get a brief overview of what Naval Intelligence had been doing in response. The report made him smile, his adjutant had been busy, already he knew who two of the members of the Martial Court would be voting for to become the next High Commander. It was no surprise that the Lord-Justice, Viscount Slynn was voting for him, he had been a strong supporter of Slynn to become the next leader of the Militia after the retirement of the last one. The man was loyal to his friends and knew that Monmouth was a strong contender for the position. It was a bit surprising, however, to see the Fabricator General supported him. Often he had been in opposition to the man on votes in the Martial Court. He would have to investigate this further, the man would obviously want something in return. He could not count on the vote of the Admiral of the Flotilla, the man was an egotistical arse, more concerned with increasing his own power base rather than protecting the realm. The two remaining military commanders were the heads of the Army and Navy respectively. Monmouth knew the Admiral of the Navy well, but was unsure if he would get his vote without some serious collateral. There was also very little dirt on the man, he was a true selfless officer, same as Monmouth. Which meant that he too would be a strong contender for the position of High Commander. The last of the bunch was the head of the Army, a blustery old man by the name of Edward Billinger-Smythe. Monmouth had dirt on the man, in fact he could ruin the mans career and his family name with what he had. Monmouth smiled, he would be the next High Commander if things panned out accordingly. There came a knock at the door, his Adjutant stepped in, the man looked just as an adjutant should, intimidating and immaculate. He had long silver hair, tied back for now, but usually it hung free. The man would be the next head of Naval Intelligence, Monmouth had made sure of it. The man was a natural Spymaster. 'Sir the car is ready, also our sources inform me that an envoy from the Lucidus Magus Peace Coalition has landed outside the city, and is being detained here at the station. I took the liberty of having her escorted to us, I thought you'd want to hear what she has to say first before the rest of the Martial Court.''Thank you Borghuis, as always, you have anticipated the game ahead. Now, shall we?'The Vice Admiral stepped off the train and onto the platform, his staff car was already waiting for him. Monmouth looked over to the end of the platform where a Naval Intelligence officer was escorting a young woman towards them. Monmouth signaled to them to approach, he gestured to the woman to take a seat in the car before dismissing the officer escorting her. 'I am a busy man and as you can imagine with the High Commander dead my workload just got a whole lot busier. I am Vice Admiral Hugo Monmouth, Chief of Aesian Intelligence. We will have to talk while we travel.'

Susan Bregil stood outside the Vice-Admiral's (soon to be High Commander, or her name wasn't Susan Bregil) office. She was waiting. She hated waiting. The last time she was kept waiting for an extended period of time, three people tried to kill her. She wondered what happened to the last one, the one who she merely maimed for life. She had been in a good mood that day, she remembered that clearly. But one does not complain about waiting for a Vice-Admiral. And she was early to their meeting. The pretty brunette secretary (Carol, Susan clearly remembered from staring intently at the name tag) manning front desk had told her that the Vice-Admiral was out of the office for now. And, being the good little recently promoted Commodore that Susan was, she merely decided to take her waiting outside his office. This was why she had a ship, why she refused any promotion past the rank of Captain. She didn't have to wait for anything on her ship. But the Defiance was no longer hers. Instead, she faced an uncertain future, though if somebody did the magic paperwork thing that Susan often forgot to do while she was Captain of her ship, apparently a newer, nicer ship would be hers. That was the only reason she was here. Couldn't turn down a commission for the new ship on the block. Hopefully the crew would be half as competent as her previous crew. So she waited. And bitterly complained deep inside her head. Unconsciously she straightened out her new white Commodore Uniform. Admittedly the new uniform felt nice, and it made all the passing sailors and soldiers salute her. That was good. Eleven years in the service, and finally she got a position worthy of the all the medals that she had been awarded for valor in the field of duty. Carol wandered over to where Susan stood, cap secured on her head. "Ma'am" Carol said, her honey voice drawing Susan out of her deep thoughts. "You seem stressed, perhaps you'd like a massage.... Carol suddenly ripped off her dress shirt, pushing Susan to the wall....."Ma'am?" Carol once again spoke, taking Susan out of her deep thoughts. I seriously need to stop daydreaming. Might get me fired one day. Susan nodded, motioning for Carol to continue. "You are making the other guests nervous. Um, could you please wait outside the building for the Vice-Admiral? Half of the guests feels as if you want to kill them, merely by how you've glared at them." Susan hadn't realized she had been performing her death stare on the guests. "Okay." Susan stalked to wait outside, where it was less likely a passer-by would get set on fire by her stare. Carol accompanied Susan on the way out, claiming she needed a coffee run. As the two parted, Carol to the local coffee shop, and Susan to perform her waiting outside, Carol slipped a business card into Susan's hand. On it was an address, and a time scrawled on the back. 8:30. Sometimes Susan didn't hate waiting.

Vice Admiral Hugo Monmouth Naval Intelligence Aesian Capital City - KonisgburghThe motorcade passed through the streets of the Capital, the Militia seeing the flags on the staff car hurriedly cleared the roads all the way to the Naval Intelligence Headquarters, two blocks away from the Martial Court and the Synarch in what was the Government Quarter, the central hub of Aesian politics. The guards at the gate snapped to attention as the convoy pulled in. Monmouth stepped out of the car followed by the woman from Lucidus Magis. Their conversation had not gone well, the woman refusing to give away much due to her fear of reprisals from the Aesian government over the burial of the High Commander on foreign soil. Frustrated by her lack of response Monmouth signaled the guards 'Take her to holding, I'll return once I've been to the Martial Court. She is NOT to be harmed in anyway, but she will remain a prisoner here for her own protection.'((Apologies for pupetting, but I need to move the story on.)) He returned to the task in had, mainly gathering his people ahead of the power struggle that was about to commence. As he walked up the stairs to the front of the building he spotted Commodore Bregil. 'Bregil, glad you could make it! Follow me. We have a major task ahead of us and I'll need your special forces before the night is out. Distasteful work I'm afraid, but we have been left with no choice. If we're to save Aes we'll have to spill a little blood. Come, we'll eat in my ante room.'He walked briskly into the bulding and through the reception hall, taking the stairs rather than the elevator up to his office on the top floor, a good, sturdy ten flights. His retinue trailed behind him. Once in his office Monmouth made his way to the ante room, a small conference room. Already the staff had brought food up and it was awaiting them when arrived. 'Excellent, I'm famished. everyone grab a plate and eat something, that's an order. We have a busy schedule, inform your families that you won't be home tonight. I'm sorry but we all know what is at stake.' He turned to one of his other aides 'Hibbs, if your wife gives you any grief tell her to ring me, I'll sort her out.' He said jokingly. The man chuckled as he set about filling his plate with food. Monmouth turned his attention to Commodore Bregil, 'I hear you've been given command of one of our latest Dreadnoughts. You're welcome!' He said with a smile and a wink. He had pulled strings to get her the promotion. Many in the Air Flotilla despised her as she wasn't what they considered a 'real officer' but Monmouth held her in high regard. He knew a competent commander when he saw one. Though she hated the burdens of higher command (preferring to be involved on the battlefield) she had a knack for strategy. 'I know she's still in airdock getting the final touches, any idea on a name?'

Susan followed Hugo up to his office. She merely nodded her head at the notion that the special forces would be needed. She had come to terms with that, and was willing to do what it would take to protect Aesian borders. Susan quickly took a plate and started to load up on food. "The ship itself is supposedly to be named after the new High-Commander. Originally it was going to be named the Vossler, but it was decided that it would be in poor taste while, may he find rest, Vossler Stone's body is still not buried in Aes. Damn politics and such. I personally suggest naming it after the most successful Vice-Admiral we've had, the Hugo." Susan let out a short laugh before her face fell straight again. "Seriously though, I'd recommend the Monmouth. As it is set to be one of the flagships of the fleet, at least initially, I'd suggest that this name would inspire troop morale. You are, after all, a living legend in the Fleet, with more medals than anyone else in fleet history. The fleet will hopefully benefit from your name, even if we do not live up to the legend you built for yourself.."She nodded, before motioning towards the table. "If you'll excuse me sir, I'll need to get my notes ready for the meeting. We'll need to be ready as soon as possible once the new High-Commander is elected, if not ready to act before the election. You'll hear my recommendations during the meeting on what to do during the current crisis." And with that, Susan sat down, not waiting to be dismissed by Monmouth. It was indeed true, she needed to pull up her notes. And she doubted very much he would fire her over this small breach of protocol. After all, Aes came first in both of their minds.
