Palesa

Tanaka

Kichea

The storm clouds had yet to pass over the Valley as the sun streaked across the sky. Though thunder sounded and lightning flashed, there was no rain to bless the dry earth, and as soon as Palesa took a step onto the dead grasses, she knew that something was different about these lands.

She had wondered for days across the Southlands and the Pridelands, the dry wind taking her to the steady night that seemed to await in the west. Though she had no idea at the time, but she was making her way to what would be a different pride, one she would have yet to encounter in her many ages of being a wanderer. Her paws were worn from her journey, and her fur was ruffled from the wind, yet she still held an untamed beauty around her, a spirit and part of the wind itself.

Settling down on what seemed to be a dying lake, Palesa let her soft eyes trail across the lands once again, not seeming to get enough from what she had seen. The winds had wanted her to see this place for some reason, and she would respect their demands and discover what was needed before she would be summoned away once more. Forever a wanderer, she must continue on as summoned, for that was what her life was meant to be.

Large white paws fell on the faded and brittle grass of the mistweaver land. The land really had suffered since his last journey here years ago. As dry as it had become, the scent of water still hung over the land, though it was tainted by the obvious smell of drought.

Tanaka wasn't really paying much attention to his location, though he certainly wasn't lost, like a true wanderer he just didn't care where he went. He was away from the crowd and that was all that mattered, though he'd probably be in a better mood if Kiuma were with him.

His ears flicked, nose twitching as he inhaled, taking in the surronding smells. He had managed to end up near the lake and his green eye fell on the pale lioness.. Oh...great, just what he needed, another crowd.

Turning her ears as the winds pushed a scent her way, Palesa found her soft brown eyes catching sight of another lion, soon trailing up his form to stall on his wings. Maybe it was just the light, but Palesa felt a different sense coming from this lion, something that just seemed godly almost. Shaking her head lightly soon after, she turned away and decided it would be best to ignore him completly, less the wind sent him into her path.

The sudden breeze pushing the stale air around her, she took a light sniff to find the humidity assult her senses. Letting out a light sneeze, the breeze moved back towards Tanaka, and she was forced to lightly turned her head once more, pushing her paws towards him as her path demanded it. Ignoring him before was easy, but now they would need to cross paths, and as the winds brought forth the humid sign of change for her life, she decided that it was fated that she must speak with this godly-creature, not once taking in account the small form that was rushing their way.

Tanaka had been perfectly happy to have the pale lioness ignore him, after all he had wandered out here to be alone, not find more company; and he was equally willing to return the favor electing to pay no further notice.

He walked on, making his way toward the lake, or what was left of it. He lowered his head and sniffed at the ground, then lifted it again to scent the air. Maybe he could find something to hunt out here, he could do with a bit of violence.

Catching movement from the corner of his eye, Tanaka suddenly stopped and looked up. The flick of a tufted tail and a faint snarl, he watched the lioness approach. Of course...he just couldn't be left alone.

Palesa caught the sound of a low snarl, and her ears perked lightly before she halted her steps a few strides away. Turning her head away from his gaze, she glanced out towards the land, and watched as the wind rippled against the waters.

"We have no control over where we want our destiny to lie..." She whispered out softly, her voice a gentle breeze that danced across the air, "...it is up to the winds to carry us from where we stand to where we are meant to move." She had no idea why she was the first to speak, but as her brown eyes turned back on him, she voiced without words that she knew he was not intrested in her company. It was normal for that to be so, and of course she was not intrested in his company as well, their paths had merely crossed without their control.

Tanaka's fur bristled, tail lashing behind him like a snake before the strike. It was destiny for them to meet? Hah! Hardly, it was merely a coincidence, and an annoying one at that. Guided by the wind? She must have been into the mistweaver's stash of magik mushrooms. He and he alone controlled his destiny and he decided for himself what path to take. Though to some his meeting with Kiuma may have seemed like destiny, they certainly seemed like a perfect match. But he wasn't thinking of that, it wasn't in his nature to think of such things.

He dismissed the words with a snort. "Destiny is no more than an excuse for those too weak to choose their own path."

She seemed to all but raise a brow at his choice of words, the winds dying from around her and giving her a chance to think for a few moments. She let the silence move on for awhile, pretending to almost give up on her responce, before she settled on her haunches and let out a light 'humph'.

"So I take it," she started up slowly, smirking towards him, "You chose to lose your wings?" In her mind, it was fair game, "For one who seems so content with his own path, you sure do pick the strange one to follow through." Standing a moment later, she let her tail slide a moment before turning her head away, showing that she had no intrest in hearing his words, let alone respect.

A low growl rumbled in the lion's chest, jaws parting to bear menacing fangs, his talons digging into the earth. Tanaka was already in a particularly violent mood, this lioness wasn't helping. She had hit a nerve, and he didn't like it.

"The path I choose is not your concern."

He snorted. Of course he had not chosen to lose his wings, nor the scars that went with it. But he -had- chosen the path that led to that fate, a path he still would have taken had he known the cosequences beforehand. Though that didn't stop his desire to tear any god he came across limb from limb.

The small spotted cub was still running as fast as her paws could carry her across the grassland. Her heart pounding as she tried to escape the looming storm. She soon could see the green lioness and the white lion ahead of her. With great hope that they would be of help, she pushed herself forward. As she came closer and closer to them she became more and more fatigued, but the fear pumping though her veins kept small legs moving her though the thick grass. Suddenly she was close enough to see the lion bear his fangs. The cub's eyes widened with shock and her tired paws went limp for that moment of surprize. It was enough though. Her foot caught the ground the wrong way and sent her into a quick tumbling fall across the ground. She squeaked and grunted as she tumbled, sending up a cloud of dust as she slowly came to a stop on her back.

She took a moment to narrow her eyes in deep thought, oblivious to his fangs and feeling no fear from his threat. Sucking in a soft breath before letting it release, she dragged a paw across the crippled grasses in front of her, and than moved her gaze back onto his own. Catching sight of his gaze than, as well as his fangs, she tilted her head in what could easily be taken as an innocent manner and let out a slow smile.

"Than neither is my views upon how I choose mine. If you wish to speak critisizm, than you migth as well accept that others will critisize you in return." She let her ears perk than, giving him a chance to think over her words as she turned to figure out just what was making all of the noise in the otherwise serene lands. Her gaze landing on the form of a small cub, she just blinked as the creature tried to stop but instead rolled head over paws towards them.

The cloud breaking through the two adults, Palesa just took a chance to catch her breath without the dust before she glanced down at the small lioness sprawled on her back, "...Hello there..." she mused softly, as if surprised at even seeing another.

The lion's posture did not change. He may have wanted to rip her to shreds, but it wasn't worth his time. He had better things to release his aggressions on.

"Listen lady, if you want to follow the wind or whatever, that's your choice. But don't ever try to apply your beliefs to me."

He might have said or done more, had it not been for the ungracefull arrival of the cub. What the hell...another cub? He growled low and glared at the cub, tail lashing in irritation. A cub he would not harm, but that didn't mean he was above terrorizing one, especially in his current mood.

She coughed as the cloud of dust surrounded her and then settled. Realizing she had landed right in the middle of the two adults, she quickly wiped the back of her paw across her eyes and stood. She looked up at the lioness as she spoke to her, obviously surprised by her entrance. "Hello... Sorry if I interu..." She didn't finish because by then she felt lion's glare. Her ears folded against her head as she turned to see the huge lion looking angrily at her. She dropped her head low in submission and slinked behind the green lioness, who had seemed to be at least somewhat kinder than the male. With her ears still folded she glanced around from behind the lioness hoping that he would lighten his anger soon before something became of it.

Letting out a long sigh, Palesa could only lift her paw from where the small cub had scattered under, and looked down with her chocolate eyes. Glancing back towards the god soon after, she blinked once more and looked towards the waters, as if lost in her feelings and opinions.

"I never said you should follow my views..." It was a soft murmer, and she looked back to him with a tired gaze, clearly bored with all of his anger. Taking a step over the cub, she glanced down and let her tail wave softly.

"I am not the best support from other creatures." It was another soft sigh-like sentence, and she simply turned her head away from what she figured would be a fate-ful scene that would change the cub's outlook on the life around her.

Tanaka snorted fiercely. The hell she hadn't! It was her who had insisted destiny had effected him to cause their meeting here. Hah! He had wandered here because he wanted to, not because some mystic force had told him to. And if he'd known some stupid shroom sniffing lioness was going to insist on talking to him, he'd have gone the other way.

He was tired of this and he had better things to do with his time. The lion crouched, coiling like a spring it what appeared to be an attack stance. But rather than charging the lioness or the cub, he sprang to the side, toward something that neither of them had seen, a serpent sunning itself in the grass.

With a swipe of a massive paw, he scooped it up, sliced it with a talon (enough to spurt plenty of blood, but not enough to kill it), then flung it at the pair before the creature could strike. It was probably non-venomous, but a bite from any snake could be painful. And even if it didn't strike, well it would be enough to terrorize the cub.

The white lion smirked from a several feet away, "Now that's my kind of destiny."
