It'd been a couple of days since Cyrilla had shown up on Merope's doorstep. She'd been doing well to keep in touch with him though. After dragging him back to her place to play games, she'd texted him on and off the next day, eventually prodding enough to get him to agree to go swimming with her. So early that morning she'd gotten up from her hoard and packed up some things to take with her for the day. Everything was unceremoniously them into a bag that now hung at her side, over her shoulder.
She diligently bid her time until a reasonable hour rolled around, and made her way out into the hall. Though, she didn't get far before Star, her fafnir, poked it's head out. Turning, she shooed at the little creature to go back into the room. "Not today." she chastised the bejeweled thing, "You don't even like water." The fafnir seemed to accept this and, begrudgingly, went back into her room. Cyrilla just gave her head a quick shake. She'd make it up to Star later. Go for a walk in the evening would likely do it.
The thought didn't linger in her mind long though as she turned on her heels, making her way to the Leviathan's room. She stood out there for a moment, settling her nerves. It took a moment to reconcile the idea that Merope wouldn't be snapping at her this time (at least she hoped not), and that they were actually just going to hang out.
"This is stupid." she muttered to herself finally, lifting her hand and knocking loudly on the door.

There were a few changes in Merope's room. For one, the wet clothes that littered his damp floor had been scooped up and properly washed, then stacked and kept in watertight chests. It was still dark. What use did the leviathan have for lights when he could provide his own light? There was something comforting about the darkness, something peaceful about the hushed stillness. It could have been a dash of homesickness. He couldn't deny the longing he had for home. Even if it was a place far out in the depths where he was expected to swim his weight and do nothing more.
And yet hesitation still dragged him down. Merope stood in the middle of his bare room when Cyrilla knocked, his talons tapping nervously against the floor. He shook his head, moving forward to grab a towel and stuff it under his arm.
He paused, then grabbed a pouch before stuffing it into his shorts. Merope opened the door, giving Cyrilla a nod as he stepped out. "Hey," he greeted. "You ready?"

Well, he wasn't smiling, but he didn't snap at her! She took that as a win in her book. Besides, she could smile wide enough for the both of them. Quite literally, almost. In fact, she flashed a bright one in his direction as he greeted her, her head nodding heartily along.
"Yeah, been plodding around all morning waiting for the hours to turn over." she chuckled, adjusting the strap over her shoulder.
"Should be fun." she almost spit out that it had been awhile since she'd been swimming, but perhaps it wasn't the best choice of words. Every now and then, she was capable of a modicum of tact. Luckily, this seemed to be one of those moments.
Her tail twitched with anticipation as she moved away from the door so they could walk together. It was nice to go out and do something different. It'd mostly been indoor game nights before, not that she stopped enjoying that.
A change of pace was always welcomed though.

Merope closed the door behind him, leaving it unlocked. He didn't own anything of value, and anyone looking to acquire his hoard would have to first break through the ice that formed across his bed. Then deal with the fiesty minipets inside it. In all honesty there were things Merope could do in order to better protect his property, but then again what use did non-seed Silver have to anyone else?
He nodded for the dracolich to proceed, walking alongside her. "...Yeah, should be," he responded at last. "It's been awhile since I last swam in something deeper than my bed." Nevermind that "swimming" was more like "wallow around in his own misery."
Silence. A glance towards the ground as they walked. Merope struggled to fish for a topic to talk to her about.

Non-seed silver could be used to build hoards. Lovely, lovely hoards that one could sleep on. Though. Silver was not as nice as gold, so it, generally, remained safe. Not to say that silver -never- went without being pilfered. The odd coin or sliver of the stuff had made its way into her hoard. In fact, that's what had caught her eye in the trees the other day, before she'd promptly fell out of it.
"No? Well it'll be good for you then." she reached over, lightly poking the boils arm, sticking her tongue out at him in the process. She turned her face back towards the hall, walking contently in silence until she noticed he was staring at the ground.
"So any new games out I should know about?" she offered a little less cheerfully, and more genuinely.
"I'm looking to avoid fighters this time, tired of getting my tail kicked in."

When it came to sleeping or idling, Merope preferred sand. At least in his dorm room. Back home required finding a tight-fitting cave to prevent anyone (or anything) from getting the first drop, or from being harvested from. It took Merope awhile to get used to his pool-bed.
The poke brought a fleeting grin to his face, fading as she asked her question. Merope could only shrug. "Dunno. Haven't had a use for any sort of electronic."
Silence again.
"So. Uh. Done anything interesting since you woke up?"

"Oh, well. In that case we can maybe go out sometime and find something to play." she didn't let the fact that his grin faded with the question. He'd grinned, and that's all she needed to feel assured things -would- be alright in the end.
"Uh. Well." she blinked, putting a finger to her lip as she thought about what she'd done so far since coming back from her nap. There, there wasn't a whole lot, really. Well, some things. Though she could list them on her fingers. To be fair though, it hadn't been all that long.
"I fell out of a tree." she finally offered.
"Branch gave out, and down I went." she motioned with her hand and made a whistle sound, followed by both hands making the motion for an explosion with a BAM sound following it.
"Was pretty embarrassing. A Barioth showed up and saw me in a pile on the ground. Played it off well enough I don't think they knew it was embarrassing so that's gotta count for something." she chuckled.

"Oh, uh, well. You see..." the dracolich's fingers quickly steepled themselves together, splaying open then and tapping against one another.
"There was, there was..." she coughed, "there maybe was something shiny up there that caught my attention" she had stopped walking by this point, rocking on her heels a little.
"I, uh. I got it though! You know. Before I fell. Heh."

When she stopped, so did he. When she admitted to the reason why...
Merope chuckled and continue walking. "Good to know you haven't changed. What was up there?"

"Oh!" she quickly moved to keep up with the smaller boil. Delighted to hear him chuckling, she reached into her sash, fishing around for a moment or two. It looked a little awkward, but she wouldn't have been aware of that. Instead, moments later, she procured a small, very glittery, silver cufflink.
"It was in some nest." she mused. "Caught my attention. Had to have it." she held it out for him to look at.
"Why don't you have it?" the ghoul beamed a bit. It was silver, so despite being shiny, there was a slim chance she'd actually snake it back from him later.
Besides, she had nothing to pin cufflinks too.

Merope threw her a sidelong glance, watching curiously as she searched for something. When it was offered, he accepted it to look at it. "Huh. Wonder how it got there, good find though."
The small cufflink was offered back to Cyrilla, held between them when she made her offer. "Are you sure? I mean..." He glanced at the cufflink, then back at her. "...Thanks." Merope shifted the towel under his arm, pinning the cufflink into his short's pocket. As he didn't have a shirt on, it was rather difficult to use it for its actual purpose of cuffs.
"So we're just going to go swimming, right?" He asked her, trying to strike up conversation. "Gym pool or lake? I've... I've forgotten which already."

The dracolich was pleased her friend accepted the item. Stretching her wings out as they walked, she considered a few things.
"Well, I've always had a nose for that sort of thing." shrugging, she continued.
"Was thinking we could go to the lake. You likely didn't forget, heh. I likely didn't say." she had a bad habit of making plans, but not, necessarily, fully thinking them through.
"Maybe there'll be some neat things in the lake bedding."

At the mention of the lake, Merope perked up. If the lights had decided to go out at that moment, there would even be a glow to his markings. "It's been awhile since I've salvaged there. I thought we were going to the gym, but the lake is loads better."
A glance was given to the bag Cyr carried. "I see you're prepared to haul whatever we have back. Whatcha got in there?"

"Swimsuit, towel... lots of extra space..." a toothy grin crept back up over her face as they walked. "Not much else rea-" she was cut off suddenly by her pack ... bouncing?
"Err. Well that's new."
Pausing she opened it up and peered inside, suddenly greated with a faceful of fafnir. Blinking at it, it blinked back at her.
"How..?" was all she managed to get out before the fafnir snorted in her face.
"Oh for jack's sake." she grumbled. "I shooed you back into the room. How did you even get in there?" sighing she looked over at Merope and offered him an apologetic smile.
"Looks like I brought along Star too. He's been antsy to get out... tried getting him to stay in the room. Guess that just didn't sit right."
Star snorted again, clearly indignant that he would have been left behind in the first place. The fafnir chirped happily at the leviathan though. Merope wasn't on his bad side today.
