Every once in a while, Maua preferred to see the world from a slightly different perspective. She never worried about running into mortals in her true form, without wings she could get away without being recognized for what she was most of the time anyway.. but sometimes, she just liked to be a hare. It was especially convenient when she found nice patches of flowers, which was where she found herself now. She was standing in the midst of some flowers, her lower half completely invisible beneath her colorful cover. Her nose was pointed upward and her eyes were closed, she was just enjoying the sun and the smell of the flowers, seemingly oblivious to everything around her.

Flowers! The snake liked the colors they bore and how bright and happy they made everything look. They were also only found in places that had a decent supply of water, making them indicators of a good area to live and hunt in. Places where a little green snake could find food!

And in the middle of the patch was a hare. Queror headed for her, hoping for something even more interesting than the flowers surrounding them both. In fact, she was interesting. But...not the same way as the Seers he'd seen. He wasn't certain he'd seen anything like her before. So he had no idea what he saw.

"Not Ssssssssseer," he said aloud, studying the problem.

Her long ears twitched as the snake got closer to her comfortable little flower patch but she didn't open her eyes or turn her full attention to him until he hissed an interesting observation her way. She blinked at him through the brightness, tilting her head. Seers were tricky business, not all gods liked them, they had something no gods ever could- and yet, all of their mortal offspring had it. Maua herself had some confused theories about it but she tried not to overthink it, she knew plenty of seers over her long lifetime.. many of them were her own children.

"What?" she asked, her nose twitching curiously at him.

She looked confused. He didn't mean to confuse her, but he himself was confused! He had no idea what he was seeing, and it made him even more curious!

"Not Ssssssseer," he repeated himself, looking directly at the hare, so that there could be no doubt of who he meant. Then again, it wasn't like there was anyone else to talk to in this flower patch right now....but it always helped to be sure.

Right?

"Me?" she asked, tilting her head in the opposite direction and wondering why she was being questioned about this. She definitely wasn't a seer- was he looking for some, or was he a seer that saw meeting one somewhere around here, or.. something else? Either way, she shook her head.

"I'm not a seer, are you looking for one?" she asked.

She wasn't. Well, that confirmed what he could see, but it didn't explain what she was! But it would be very very rude to just ask what she as. Queror believed in observing what there was to see, and making his own judgements based on that. If the hare chose to offer further information, that was one thing, but he wasn't going to request it.

"No," he answered. Then, annoyed with the shortness of his own response, the green snake elaborated. "Not ssssseeking anything."

Well, he wasn't seeking anything out of the ordinary - a nice meal, a place to curl up when it got too cold to move - that sort of thing.

Well, he had her attention now. She was very curious to know what he was going on about if he wasn't looking for a seer. A few hops and she was to the edge of the flowers and much closer to the snake. She ought to have been more cautious, she didn't know if this snake was actually looking for a meal-- but her true form was only a second away and that gave her confidence.

"Oh," she said, smiling at him and trying to figure out if there was a way to get him to talk more, "What's your name?"

OK, that would get at least one word out of him. She could figure out more later.

Well, this was certainly friendly! He didn't meet that many people who were as friendly and open as this hare, and the green snake meant to take advantage of it. Not that there was anything he really wanted of her, except to add interesting to his day.

"Sssssssssssnake is Queror," he introduced himself, nodding to the hare. Then he leaned back and looked at the hare questioningly. Perhaps she would introduce herself in return! Then he would know the name of the Not Seer Hare.

"Queror," she repeated, biting back a laugh about the convenient lack of Ss in his name, "It's nice to meet you! My name is Maua. Do you ask everybody if they're seers?"

He obviously wasn't going to explain himself so she would ask lots and lots of questions! That was definitely OK with her.

Maua. It was an interesting name. He didn't know much about names, but they were not as interesting as the people who bore them. But her question intrigued him. Why would he ask if people were Seers? It was there to be seen.

"No assssssssk," he answered simply. It was stupid to ask what one already knew. He simply looked for confirmation to what he saw.

"Oh," she said, "Does that mean.. you can tell? Are you a god?"

Suddenly her eyes narrowed and she looked at him more carefully, as if trying to determine for herself if he was a god. Sometimes you could tell when you met another god, it could depend on each individual god and the strength of the illusion cast by the other. She couldn't see it in him, though. But she couldn't see if he was a seer or not, either. She'd never mastered that, she wasn't convinced anybody could.

God? She wanted to know if he was a god? That was funny. The green snake opened his mouth wide and hissed his laughter for a good few minutes. He'd never had anyone ask him that before! Most simply assumed he was what he was - a seer!

"Ssssssssseer," he answered, after he managed to calm down a bit. His blue eyes still sparkled with mirth. Really, Queror wasn't sure he'd met anyone quite as interesting as this hare for quite some time!

His reaction wasn't telling, if she figured it out, it could be funny to the right god. If she was wrong, which seemed more likely considering populations of mortals versus immortals, it could be just as funny. But at least he was smiling.

"Oh!" she said, giggling despite herself, "So you're a seer. Got it."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 03, 2013 2:10 pm

It was always good when the other person got the joke. Queror grinned at the hare who had joined him in giggling. She understood, that was clear!

"Yesssssss," he confirmed for her, bobbing his head and smiling. "Ssssssseer sssssssnake."

It was a fun thing to be, all things considered.

Maua was smiling at him when she realized why he must have been commenting on how she was not a seer. Something about his visions must help him find seers, something was making him interested in her and all he knew was she wasn't a seer. He was confused.

"Oh!" she said, snickering again, "You must be confused about me, then! Am I right this time?"
