It was late, or maybe early for some people just waking up, and Melvin left the Labs to take a shower, change into a fresh set of clothes, and then went into the cafeteria either looking for a late dinner slash early breakfast or maybe just drink coffee until he could convince himself he could work in the labs just a bit longer.
Filling up a mug of coffee and adding cream and sugar, he went over and looked at the variety of breakfast foods before frowning. All pastries were just too sweet for him, and instead he just made some toast and sat down, having the most bland breakfast around. He stared at the table, thinking to himself as he slowly chewed, his glasses off and set on the table to give his eyes a rest.

The days have been long and hard. With a couple of hunters out of commission for a bit, the infirmary needed a few extra hands. It meant more time in the sterilized area, assisting with supplies for the nurses and medics and pouring time over the vitals and nutrition while they were under care. The time it took to do such things were long, the sleep cycle he had was shifted, later and dug into his workout time.
He was sure the stress added 1% of body fat on him. He was glad to get out of the wing of medicine, the need to fill his stomach was insatiable, more of less due to the persistent dragon that demanded sustenance. The sight of Melvin, with a cup of coffee and toast in had seemed pitiful. "you look like crap." There was no hiding it, and t was far too early to sugarcoat anything, or too late, depending how you looked at it.
The mere piece of toast wouldn't do much for him, opting for the traditional cup of tea and putting an egg to boil, washing some strawberries and grapes before collecting everything and sitting down with the grumpy scientist. "Take one." he nudged Melvin, offering a grape. "A grape for your thoughts?"

Melvin stopped chewing, pulling the toast away from his mouth and swallowing what he had bit off. He checked his phone to see the time and set it down. "Morning to you too." He said, not caring for a update on how he looked. He felt like crap and didn't need the peanut gallery to tell him that.
At the offer of a grape, he looked back up at Leon. "Yeah, that grape is sure going to change my outlook on life." He took the grape anyways because Leon had washed them beforehand and chewed it before sipping his coffee which tasted horrible at this hour but OH WELL!
"What are you doing up?"

"They used to put two coins over the departed as payment to cross the river styx, what good did mortal currency do for them, I wonder?" Leon fired back and put a few more of the washed pieces of fruit over toward the grumpy life member. "The grape is there to nourish your body, while I figure out what's plaguing your mind, now eat." he ordered, holding up another one for Melvin to take.
It was odd to see him in such a sour mood, the boxer didn't believe the scientist had such a dark side. "I just finished my shift in the infirmary. More importantly, what eating you?" trying to push the conversation back to where he wanted to go, on Melvin, he took a bite of his egg.
Melvin would never try and make him talk with his mouth full.

He took the grape, watching him a moment. "I feel like I'm at a petting zoo the way you're doing this." He said, eating the grape before setting his toast down on a plate and sipping his coffee again.
Leon reminded him of Mia a bit, a nutritionist from college who enjoyed cardio, yoga, and prodding him to eat better and get out more.
"Not exactly plagued. I've just been working overtime in the labs though I have been thinking about a few people here." Melvin had heard how Leon felt about Rep and considering he was a hunter who wasn't his friend, he felt he could get another picture of the hunter. "You talked a lot during the New Year's party about Rep. It didn't exactly make you all that popular. People still giving you grief about it?"

Melvin might have been grumpy, but he was still open to eating right. Leon took it as a sign that he could be helped. "If you want me to stroke your hair while you're eating from my hand, then I think you have a fetish that needs to be explored at a different time."
When that time was, he honestly didn't know, just that it didn't involve him, right here and right now.
The following question gave him great pause, taking a hesitant sip of cup of tea to clear his throat. "Well, i'm not exactly a team player Melvin, and its effects are very easily seen." it was indeed a sensitive subject, but Melvin was the one that tried to talk to him and work through it. "I may have to get along with him, and be open to co-operate with the person, but I made it clear that I will never trust rep with my life." not exactly the conversation he was hoping to have with Melvin, so he offered another grape. "I'll just have to live with the choice that I made. Why do you ask?"

Melvin frowned at Leon when he joked about the grape eating that when he offered the grape again, Melvin took it and threw it back at him. "No more grapes." He returned to eating his toast.
"I ask because I think he's babied when he gets into trouble and that support he has allows him to get away with a lot of things. I wondered if, when it really came to him murdering someone, if anyone would actually care." It was a grim thought, but one Melvin couldn't shake off since his dream and his argument with Rin.
"I was wondering about his history and how he's been here this long."

"Don't waste food Melvin, someone out there would have been glad for that grape." he scolded, picking up the discarded grape and putting it in the garbage. Melvin had a few and that was enough for him, the rest could go for his own stomach as he popped them into his mouth, one at a time while listening to Melvin.
It was a scenario to think about, that was sure. rep was a loose cannon with an axe. It took some time to ponder and chew before finding his voice. "I would imagine that he would get the shackles again, the cuffs that locked off his power after he killed that citizen last time, possibly worse." Leon reasoned, it didn't even dawn that the scientist might not have known about that tidbit but continued on. "Allan would probably spout that he is disappointing in nakama or something and Cealius would probably give no ********> he paused.
"No probably, Caelius WOULD give no ******** didn't want to give Melvin false info about that. "Rep's history, I only know a few tidbits that he did, And mark would have a more in depth file on him."
The idea of having to go visit "Mr. Awesome" was already leaving him in physical pain.

Melvin thought for a moment. "Mark? Would he be willing to even give that information? Most superiors I talk to don't even care if I'm living or breathing and tend to shoo me away from their office or order me to get them coffee." He didn't have a stellar presence of authority yet in the labs.
"What tidbits do you know? How did he even get to kill a civilian? No one seems to tell me the bad side of Rep because they quickly switch to defend him. I've seen how he can be, and he has a twisted sense of pleasure when it comes to winning over someone sometimes that it becomes dangerous." The game he was playing with Sasha came to mind, and the knife was still in Melvin's room.

"If you wax on his ego, I'm sure you might be able to get something out of him." The a** kissing of Mark that he witness on twitter was more than enough for his own tastes. "Just don't forget to use the word 'awesome.'" It was very important.
Melvin, wanted to know more, he was super curious today. "All I know is that when he came here, he was super sexist, now hes only moderate in my opinion. That he killed a citizen and was punished for it and I heard a rumor that he may have injured a hunter a while back. I'm not sure if he was punished for that, if it is true." he began listing them off for Melvin, he struck the boxer as the type of guy who'd like bullet points. "That's all I know, other than his instigation during that last visit to the Haunted House with another hunter, but why are you asking this all of a sudden?"
The fact that Melvin might have been lying at wake at night, about REP? that made him worried. "Did he touch you?" Leon was quickly wondering if he should get the doll from the S.A.E. Kit.
Just point out on the doll where Rep touched you Mel, and no , leon won't kiss the boo boo.

Melvin's eyes shot wide at the comment from out of the blue. "No! Geez gods no, man!" The very idea of Rep doing that was not something he wanted his brain to entertain for even a moment. He hanged out with this guy and he messed around with 2 other people. Nope. His brain was going to shut down until that comment that might prompt up thoughts passed.
Giving a shiver at being asked that, he continued.
"I already cater to Rep enough when I want to find out something. He's not exactly a hard nut to crack." He rubbed his temple, feeling a migraine from thinking too hard on what had just been a dumb dream.
It's not a omen. It's not a omen. It's not a omen.
"He already hurt plenty of hunters that I had to check up in the Infirmary just because, as he put it, "They were at the wrong place at the wrong time" or were for some stupid reason. He cut Rin's hand off because he couldn't control his power, but she didn't press it because it was an accident and she's his friend." Or that's how Rin put it, but considering their history, he just didn't know anymore.
"I don't want people to die by our own people, but I don't want Rep getting killed for something stupid. For being stupid, but I can't protect someone who not only doesn't care, doesn't learn, is given free passes on what should get other people podded, or having him think up some strange justification for hurting hunters." He held his head a moment, closing his eyes. It was all rather tiring. His friendship with Rep was something he still wanted, but it might come to putting himself in danger and he wasn't that stupid.

He wasn't going to judge Melvin, or that tone of voice that made him think the guy was clearly lying. He made a mental note to watch how Melvin watched. Just in case "If you say so." he replied back with the cluck of his tongue, dropping that topic.
The tea was starting to get cold, the lukewarm beverage that made his facial features drop as Melvin began to add to the list of offenses. "Oh so it wasn't an arm, just a hand." that was noted. How Rin could let that slide was beyond his own reasoning. Well, as long as it wasn't one of his own he figured.
But for how long, Rep was a potential danger. "I just want someone to knock some sense into the lunatic." Or just to be able to walk in the room and not feel disgust just by his presence would be nice as well. The tiny plate and its meal was pushed aside for now, till he got his appetite back. "If it helps, I won't kill you Melvin, thought I cant say the same about putting you in a headlock."
This is friendship Melvin, his friendship.

"That's real cute, Leon. I'm sure you say that to all the hunters."
" I don't need friendship as much as I need people telling me the truth and people not leaving me for dead on the battlefield. I'd LIKE for people to get along off the field, but from all the parties I've organized, that's a whole can of worms that is going to take a while or never happen. I'm not about to get everyone singing kumbaya to make it work either." He finished his toast and wiped his mouth with a napkin before sipping his coffee before making a face. It was getting lukewarm.
"I wouldn't mind putting him in the Infirmary just to figure out who would get pissed for hurting him even when it's sparring and also to get him to see how dangerous he is by the one way he seems to understand - physical force. He's been the top of the food chain due to his power that has hurt people, and I think people are afraid of him. It would help if someone was stronger than him to keep him in line that wasn't a superior but another hunter. I'm just not at his level." He said, not bothering to mention he had his promotion papers in the works. He was just waiting for his jacket.

"only those I care about Melvin."
Melvin really did love his friendships, while he himself had so little here. "You're trying, better than most." Better than me. The conversations drew on and the tea continued to chill. The egg was finished and the grapes were eaten, all for the one that Melvin violated.
The idea of putting rep in the medbay was an interesting notion, it had the boxer scratching his chin in thought. "Do you really think it would teach him? you know him better than I, but really would that teach Rep anything?" tilting his head at the blondie, questioning him with his eyes. "Do you?"

"If anything we could turn the conversation on everyone else for being hypocrites and see who really was on Rep's even when the fight was fair. Rep has hurt people and has gotten away with it, everyone has let him, all because it was an accident during a spar. That same logic should work for anyone going against him if he was really hurt. If anything, putting him in the Infirmary would show he's not top dog and maybe get him a bit more hesitant to be so careless with his own weapon when there could be someone who could cut him down to size right after for being destructive. I don't think he fears anything when so many people protect him." He breathed out.
"It's just a theory. If anything, it will just show me who Rep has in his pocket." And who was really against him. If Rep really did kill someone, who would care if they supported Rep?
