Bubblegum popped as Arilee stood outside the door of The Spot, debating with herself whether or not to go inside. It wasn't a case of being afraid of sleaze as everything she'd heard had given a decidedly non-sleazy air to the place. And besides, sometimes sleaze was fun. No, it was more a rare case of total uncertainty. So much had happened to change her life in such a short amount of time... Could she really do something as normal as go to a sex shop and just have fun without berating herself for not being on duty?
Quinn seemed to manage all right. And just thinking about her brunette friend brought a smile to Arilee's unusually somber face. Maybe this place would sell those goofy little windups. She'd have to get one for Quinn if they did. Feeling more cheerful, the tall blonde grinned and walked through the front door. And once inside, the cheerful brightness struck her. This was sure as hell no F Street.
And as far as Arilee was concerned, that was just fine.

Another pierced blonde sat at the counter, idly flicking through a book entitled "I <3 FEMALE ORGASMS" while she waited for customers to enter the store. It was early in the afternoon, on a weekday, and not really primetime for foot traffic, beyond the idle wanderer, or someone on a lunch break getting something for a special evening.
As the bell chimed, though, Kess finished the paragraph she was on, and glanced up, a wide, dimpled grin already on her face before she saw who'd entered.
This newest customer was awful familiar. Where'd she meet her? That beach party. Quinn's friend. Surfer. All positive associations. Still, one had to play it relatively cool at a sex shop, for patrons' comfort, until they decided to acknowledge you as someone they knew.
"Howdy," It was friendly enough, and quickly followed with, "Let me know if I can help ya find something."

"Well, actually," Arilee began before fully focusing on the speaker, "I don't really know what I'm looking for."
The stark truth in that statement could be applied to pretty much any area of her life, she thought grimly. At that point, her eyes and ears decided to cooperate and let her know that she was in the presence of someone she sort of knew. Blinking in momentary confusion, Arilee found herself grinning back and wishing she'd tried harder to hide the dark circles under her eyes before she'd left the house.
Dark circles aside, she couldn't hide the very real pleasure at seeing Kess again. After all, California girls needed to stick together sometimes.
"Remind me to kick Quinn's butt for not telling me you worked here," she began to laugh softly. "I've tried harder to be presentable."
