The lands around the river were green and lush, filled with all manner of life from the very smallest insects that were not even a mouthful for a snake all the way up to the biggest cats. So there was a greater chance of something that wanted to eat him, but also plenty for Queror to eat. He was, overall, fairly pleased to be here. Not to mention there were always animals coming and going from the mighty water source that was the river, and plenty of interesting things and people to see. He liked seeing interesting things.

Somewhere nearby, laughter could be heard- even over the rushing of the water. Standing on the bank, a good step back from the river, Asante was watching as her mate tried to stay balanced on some rocks in a shallower, calmer section of the river. "You look ridiculous!" she exclaimed, laughing. Thaddaeus looked very wet and awkward but, the way he saw it, he was the only one brave enough to give fishing a try. They'd found a reasonable turn in the river, he'd already slipped and gotten himself soaked so that was out of the way.. he was certain there were fish, he just needed to get off the bank to see them.
He turned his head, nearly sending him off balance again, to glare at Asante. "Don't you look at me like that," she cried, "I'm not jumping in to help you if you get washed away!" He rolled his eyes and looked back to where he was going. Rivers could be dangerous and unpredictable but today wasn't a bad day to be trying this.

Voices? Voices were interesting indeed. Voices came from creatures. Creatures were interesting and entertaining. The green snake slithered through the grass towards the so-intriguing sounds.
Two lions! A male and a female. They were, of course, much bigger than he was. But they were very interesting. The male....Queror could see something else about him.
"Ssssssseer," he spoke up, looking right at the big brown lion.

"Fine!" she called when Thaddaeus so pointedly ignored her. She narrowed her eyes, intending to watch carefully-- though she was smiling now. She was all too happy to let him make a fool of himself first before giving it her own go.
And then she heard a hiss and she looked around until she did a doubletake back to the snake- it was staring at Thaddaeus and.. hissing?
"F-fine!"
He called back, taking one final step out into the water and leaning down to start watching for fish. His ear twitched and he turned around to see the snake staring at him just a second before it hissed an accusation at him. Asante was shouting at him to be heard but he heard the snake fine- or he thought he did.
"Huh?"
"Hello there," Asante said, looking uncertain- especially since the snake wasn't even looking at her.

They certainly liked to talk to each other a very great deal. How very interesting. They seemed to spend a very great deal of time together, the snake decided. He could not imagine spending so much time with any one creature, unless, of course, he had seen them doing so. But no such vision had come to him.
Either way, they looked confused by his statement. That wasn't good.
"Sssssssssssseer," the green snake repeated, smiling up at the brown lion before turning to the lioness. Was there anything interesting about her? Hmm.
"Matessssssss."

Queror seemed to cause enough intrigue (or perhaps concern) to make Thaddaeus work his way back in. Despite his apparent trouble getting into the water, he seemed to emerge much more easily. At least the snake was smiling, Thaddaeus thought, but its hissing speech made it seem more menacing. Probably because they weren't used to snakes.
"Yes," he said, stepping onto the river bank again in time for Queror's observation of Asante.
Asante was not quite so agreeable, the hissing made her uncomfortable but the seemingly conscious decision to ignore her greeting and speak in single words really did it. He didn't seem very bright- though he was very observant. Of course, the only way he could observe that Thaddaeus was a seer.. would have to be that he was one as well.
"Can we help you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

Both his statements had been accepted. That was very good. It made Queror rather pleased and he continued smiling. The look turned to confusion as the lioness asked a question of him. Could they help him?
Did he need help was probably the better question. And the snake had to consider it carefully.
"Sssssssssnake needsssss no help," he answered. "Lionssssss need help?" the snake asked in return.

Asante tilted her head, this was the strangest interaction they had had in a while and she wasn't exactly sure how to deal with it. She was surprisingly short on patience, just listening to him hiss random questions.
"Um.."
Very odd indeed. And Thaddaeus could tell that Asante was not exactly comfortable- he got the impression that she might even be afraid of snakes but this was a fairly awkward encounter so far. He'd have to ask later.
"Not unless you have any fishing tips," he said, trying to lighten the mood a little bit, glancing over to Asante and back again.

Fishing tips? Queror did not swim, as was the case for most snakes, so he did not know much of fish in general. He knew, distantly, that they could be eaten. That was about it. Still, the snake considered the question.
He did not know much about body language and did not understand that the lioness was uncomfortable. His interaction with most creautres was fairly limited for some strange reason.
"Fisssssssh sssssssswim," was the only answer he could come up with. He hoped that was enough for the brown lion.

When the snake finally came up with a suggestion that might help them with fishing, he got a blank stare in return from the both of them. Asante had exactly zero idea of how to respond to that. They were asking for fishing advice beside a river, which Thaddaeus had just stepped out of. Obviously they knew fish swim.
Or it should have been obvious.
Not wanting to be rude, though, she looked at Thaddaeus, expecting him to have an answer.
Thaddaeus' reaction was exactly the same as Asante's but he knew she was looking at him and expecting him to have something to say in response to this very simple statement regarding their prey of choice. He blinked.
"Yes," he said, hoping he sounded like he agreed, "They do."
Well, Thaddaeus was not doing very well anymore either. So.. he was on his own. Without a word to either of them, Asante moved behind Thaddaeus and stepped carefully into the water, simply removing herself from the conversation-- and apparently ready to try fishing herself, now.

The snake looked from one lion to another, especially after the lioness stepped away into the river. It seemed she no longer wished to speak with him. Well, he hadn't seen much of interest in her either. And the brown lion was as forthcoming as the snake himself was. Which was interesting, but he seemed to be very attached to the lioness.
The lioness who didn't seem to like the snake. Since they were mates, it would be mean to continue speaking to the male while the female sulked.
"Wet lionessssssssss," the snake pointed out. "Ssssssssnake go." With that, he slithered away through the tall grass where it was difficult to see green against green.

"Goodbye," Thaddaeus murmured, watching the snake go, feeling confused by the whole conversation- if you could even call it that. He stared for a moment before a splashing sound behind him turned his attention back to his mate. Awkwardness aside, it did get Asante into the water.. they could go back to fishing, together this time, and pretend nothing strange had happened.
Fin!
