Didn't take long for Ludus's newest student to find his way to his room. Putting the key into the lock, Ryker twisted the door open and once again, was pleasantly surprised. It was a nice sized room, extremely clean with a nice TV on the center wall. Nice big windows, and 2 good size beds. Ryker was glad it was to, as it told him that Dorm Rooms had a max 2 person capacity. Ryker chose the right bed as his place to sleep from then on and found the closet, unpacking all his clothes and belongings. The room smelled nice to say the least, but as he sat on the bed he pondered a question. What was he to do know? Wait, hold on a moment, he had a paper for this sort of thing. Ryker took it out and read the next steps, and what followed made Ryker genuinely curious, it said, "Wait for the Gene-X to arrive at your door". What was the Gene-X? How long would it take? Ryker pondered those questions to, but he decided that the directions hadn't let him astray thus far, so he decided to wait for the Gene-X by passing the time by watching TV. Ryker was pleasantly delighted to find that the TV had local cable...though how that was possible on a remote island...well...he didn't question it. He just sat there and flipped through the channels.

Level: 1| Main Style| Energy: 350/350| Tomboyish Daughter| Current Track: Otherworld Resort███████████████████████████████████████████████ Chase knocked on the door before pushing it aside as she walked in to her new room. "Whoa...are you Ryker?" Chase was almost certain this was the right room, but...Ryker was a guy. A boatload of freedom just got thrown out the window if that was the case...such a shame. "Ah...you can call me Chase. I guess I'm sharin' a room with you." Suddenly this felt a bit less lavish, and more like a cheap hotel room. "You shake hands?" Chase asked, wandering up to the man and standing in front of him. Yes, it was rude, but Chase wasn't one for being formal when she had so much freedom. She held her hand out towards Ryker, at the same time, she was sizing him up...attempting to see if he would be a nice challenge. After all, she hadn't been in a real fight for a long time, the last time she was in a fight, she ended up with a gash across the middle of her face.

Well, that didn't take long in regards of a new room-mate, but what most definitely caught him off guard was that...well...it was a girl. Still, though Ryker was pretty much in wide eyed shock, the introductions could have gone alot worse. He could have been in the shower for christ sakes, then that would have been reeealllly awkward. Getting off from his bed, he walked towards his new room-mate, a very obvious look of something along the lines of shock, and disappointment stretched across her face. Still, not wanting to be rude, Ryker shook her hand with an awkward smile of his. "Ah...uh...Nice to meet you Chase. Your correct with me being Ryker". Though there was really no hard feelings in the air yet, you could swear one could cut the tension in the air with a butter knife. This entire situations almost Ryker forget what he saw on the TV. Almost, and it was information Ryker wanted to share with his fellow student, girl or not.

Chase made herself comfortable on Ryker's bed, and as she crossed her arms behind her head, Chase's smile sunk down to a grin. "Where ya from, Ryk?" Chase wanted to get to know the one sharing this space with her since they were going to be here for quite a while. All the while, the snow-haired girl was still looking him over, he looked like he could've been in his fair share of battles, but she wouldn't be convinced until she got to see for herself. Maybe...just maybe, she might end up asking him for a brawl. This space was good enough, of course.

His inner eye slightly twitched as he watched Chase just casually sit on his bed. It wasn't the fact that she was sitting on it, it was the fact that she chose to do so, as it revealed that she may not have an ample amount of respect for things that people have already claimed first as their property. He didn't say anything though as it wasn't worth saying, but he decided to subtlety explain to her what exactly was his by sitting on the same bed right next to her. Though it was at the end of the bed so she didn't confuse the situation. Either way, it was the perfect time to show Chase something that completely blew his mind while he was watching TV. Picking up the remote he started to flip through the channels as he answered her question, "I grew up in the states, California to be exact". He finally found what he was looking for on the TV. Turning his head towards her he said, "Your as basically as new as me right? Well listen. You know how the invitation you got promised some sort of power? Well, I think I found out what they were talking about. This TV has 2 settings, basic cable, and a setting where you can watch live or pre-recorded fights on the island. There is a live fight going on right now, and you won't believe some of the stuff that is happening". Ryker pressed a button on the remote and the TV changed it's screen to that of two combatants. Everything seemed normal until one of them began emitting lightning from his body. Then it became something like a battle of comic book super heroes. "See that? Just what kind of island is this"?

"Oh, sorry." Chase apologized silently, planning on moving to the other side of the room. "Oh, you were born in America? Nice." Chase had a half-smile on her face, she'd only been to North America once with her best friend, Mary. Chase listened with a high amount of interest, anything she could learn would assist her greatly. When he turned on the TV, Chase couldn't hide her surprise, she shifted her body so she was sitting up on her knees, staring at the TV with a look of shock. "What in the world...? That's...I don't think humans do that." Chase crossed her arms, a perplexed look on her face. Chase had no applied for Gene-X, so she understood even less than Ryker. "It's unnatural, is what it is...how...ugh!" Chase sounded utterly disgusted, and in that disgust, her manufactured accent faded away. Her actual accent sounded purely british, but she did well disguising it when she spoke plainly. Chase looked at Ryker, her expression unreadable. "You scared?" Chase was visibly still in shock.

"Scared"? He would say, still watching the match of titans on the screen. His face was one of apathy, almost as if he didn't care, as if this was a common day occurrence. To add up to that there was a certain glint in his eye, the glint of overwhelming curiosity, and possibly.....desire. "I read somewhere that the greatest fear a human can possess is the fear of the unknown. I was definitely fearful of what kind of power they were promising, but now that I see it right before my eyes...now that I can believe that what I am seeing is real, I am slightly less fearful". Ryker sighed, turning his head towards his new room-mate saying, "That said....I am now more concerned with the method in which they plan on giving us this power. Information on this island is rather lax to anyone new. The letter explaining what this island was, was extremely vague. Any and all information I have on this island comes from a piece of paper in my bag, a list of instructions on how to get started here on Ludus, and the next step says to wait in are dorms for something called the......Gene-X". As he talked, he flipped through other pre-recorded fights. One of them had a boy about his age move so fast and strong that he severed the legs of his opponent just like that, another scene depicted a young lady literally throwing fire at her opponent. Whatever this power was, there was different types of it. He paused the screen on a certain scene where a young and small boy was in the middle of a horrible transformation. One moment he was young and innocent, the next he was a monstrous hulk. Ryker just stared at the screen intensely, thinking to himself, "Man....what have I gotten myself into"?

"Get up." She called to him, the pre-recorded fights got her excited. "After seeing all of this, I'm a little curious what you can do. I want to fight you, right here, right now!" Chase said, knocking her fists together. "Since we're going to be together for a while, I want to know what you can do, so fight me!" Chase had yet to even properly aquaint herself to this one room, but she was already begging for a fight. She didn't mind the layout, it added to to the chance to work on her footwork, after all. "If I beat enough people, I'll have proof that I don't need whatever they offer! So let's fight like men!"

Ryker raised an eyebrow at Chase's sudden change in personality. A fight? Here in this very room? Well, it wasn't like there was anything but the TV to worry about breaking. Plus, he was never one to turn down a fight, even if he was fighting a female. He kept that thought to himself though, he did his best to treat everyone man or woman with an equal amount of respect. A challenge was a challenge, and no matter man or woman, he would take each challenge seriously. Still, the last thing she said was quite ironic. Fight like men? Irony indeed, since he was about to use a martial arts style invented by a woman. Getting up, Ryker walked away and stopped at the end of the wall, turning around to face her he said, "A rather odd battleground, but I can work with it. Challenge accepted, maybe by the end of this the package we are expecting will arrive". Ryker sprang into his stance, a square stance with his left fist at his side and his other arm outstretched, curved downwards at the elbow with the back of his hand facing towards Chase. "Whenever your ready".

From the way she put up her guard, it was obvious she was a boxer. "You think? This place is perfect, just try not to trip!" Chase stated as she dashed towards Ryker. Chase threatened him with the close distance between them, but refused to attack just yet. First, she had to see what she could do, and as such, she allowed herself to be open to attacks for just a moment. Her guard, however, was solid, she was confident in her ability to protect herself. Chase wasn't a traditional boxer that focused on her target before letting loose, instead...she seemed more like a little kid, bouncing back and forth without any real focus on where her next strike would land. It was an odd way to be seen, but she would prefer it if people saw her as untrained, undisciplined. "Come on!" Chase exclaimed, trying to catch Ryker's attention with her voice as she jabbed at his face. It was weak, and never meant to land, it was more of a taunting motion, one that should draw him in to attack since she was so open right now. She could always lightly clip his nose, but that wasn't any fun.

Hmmm, a boxer. Ryker would think. His last opponent was a boxer of no small skill. He won however because Wing Chun is practically perfect for countering any and all strikes down by the hand. He would fight Chase the way he fought the boxer, calmly and observantly. Boxers bare fisted are strong and dangerous fighters, so caution rang loudly in his mind. He would heed that logic, testing the waters before he would do any actual offense. He was unsure whether Chase was untrained or trying to bait him, but underestimating the opponent was something he learned the hard way with his old master all those years ago. He went with the latter, she was attempting to bait him, draw him out into an opening so she could take advantage of his lowered defenses. The strike was lightly thrown, and he used his outstretched hand as an effective distance marker to know when to lean to the left. Nothing but his torso moved as his feet were planted on the ground like heavy bricks, instead he just leaned to the left quickly as the jab would most definitely miss his face. Her voice was of no concern to Ryker, though not necessarily a master of his craft he had fought enough times to know when psychological tactics were being deployed against him. Still there was not enough information yet to determine whether she was seriously bluffing, but he figured that as long as he matched Chase's un-serious strikes with his own not so serious dodges, she would eventually reveal her true nature, and then the real fight would begin. Right now, they were just testing each other.

Chase, as a boxer, knew that getting angry wasn't going to help her out, but she actually expected him to fight her. Chase aimed her next strike directly at those hands of his. It was the same as the last one, a simple jab to try to find some crack in his defense, except this time, were she to strike with just the right amount of force, she might just cause him to reel back in pain. That'd be a good enough opening, and if she could back him in to the wall it'd be even better, if she could get him backed in to a corner then she may just have the perfect advantage.

There it was, the opening he was looking for, and this time it wasn't a baiting attack like the last one, this time it was an actual offensive maneuver in which he was sure he could exploit. The attack was aimed at his hands, which was in fact lined up with his center line. Wing Chun's prime basic teaching taught that everything in the style virtually revolved around the defense and offense of you and your opponents center line. So as the punch came, Ryker rotated his shoulders so the attack would cleanly miss, and then countered with a swift punch to the face. But he wasn't done yet, he would take advantage of the situation. A boxer has a strong guard, and it isn't broken lightly, it's best to find ways around it instead of trying to break through it. So after the quick punch, Ryker was already in the process of closing the gap of distance between the two, and before she knew it, Ryker would unleash four extremely quick punches, 2 to the throat, 2 to the chin, and finish up with a power elbow to the cheek with enough force to knock anyone down. Ryker's fists was like a couple of machine guns, they moved extremely fast and were like a blur to most people, as is the signature of the Wing Chun style. They were the machine guns of the martial arts world, renowned for their legendary speed and fluidity with their strikes. Their weakness and strength both came from their speed, for while the strikes themselves weren't all that powerful, the constant strikes to the same area of the body creates tons of damage. Since Ryker struck at the moment she unleashed her Cannon, he knew that there wouldn't be much she could so in the face of such an immediate, and quick string of counters. Even if she managed to get her arms up, the set of strikes would wear down on her arms, effectively resulting in what she was trying to do to Ryker in the first place.

Description: A simple chain-punch combination that can dish out a lot of damage very quickly. Once in close range the user first unleashes 3 or 4 chain-punches to the opponent's chin/throat before bringing closing with a powerful elbow. All the while to user moves forward with their punches to blast the opponent off balance and finally send them to the ground with the final blow.This technique can also be linked up well with a close ranged kicking maneuver immediately afterwards.

Easy, that simple punch wasn't going to pass Chase's guard, it wasn't as if she only had one arm to begin with. She took the blow to the arm without so much as a flinch, she wasn't one for leaving openings that she couldn't get out of on her own. Chase doubted she'd have the stamina to keep up the heavy stuff since she'd only just now met somebody other than a boxer...with them, it was too easy. Chase decided with this close distance, it'd be impossible to really dodge, but as soon as she took a step or two back she found herself being assaulted again, but a step or two was all she needed. The spot Ryker was aiming for was defended easily, he wanted to hit a quite small target, and in order to keep him from getting an easy victory, Chase ducked and weaved left and right, keeping her guard up just in case a straight blow managed to catch her. After she, hopefully, kept all four strikes from reaching their mark, she noted a slight movement in his arm...he was going to attack once more, and Chase couldn't defend from the side that quickly. His speed was impressive, so Chase had to return to tactics she learned from elsewhere. Chase ducked once more while running forward, she briefly opened her arms in an attempt to wrap them around Ryker's waist before rising back up and holding him with her arms just underneath his. This would diminish the strength of Ryker's blows to nothing, and Chase would be able to rest for a moment unless he could shake her. In her view, the plan was fullproof, they were only standing a few inches apart, so she should get at least a momentary hold.
