Although he much preferred the view available from the higher branches of the mighty trees, Ostium could be found on the ground now and then. Particularly when he was thirsty. Though it rained daily, and the water collected in various plants, sometimes it simply wasn't enough and the leopard had to descend to earth in order to quench his thirst.

The brook he'd chosen was small but lively, burbling over rocks and branches as it traveled downhill. Nevertheless, the dark leopard kept a wary eye and ear out for any danger. He never felt completely safe on the ground, preferring the world of the tree limbs far, far above.

Most predators large enough to threaten him were far too heavy and not nearly agile enough to follow him upwards.

Ugh, Sulie needed a break from Yuuma, Gottschalk and Morgwyn. It was just too many things around him. The serval and the maned wolf wouldn't shut up and the priest was no help in most ways. So, the black and white cheetah walked away for a bit of alone time.

He had to stop the pounding in his head. That was first and foremost. Maybe a bit of water to drink. It'd been several hours since his last drink. So, on he walked until he heard a tell-tale sign of babbling water over rocks. His ears perked up and off he ran. His feet were light, the grass crunching softly under until he got to the greener grass. Then it sort of shuffled with his slowed pace. Panting a little more, he stopped a bit away from a tree and looked around. Narrow, red eyes peered around and designated it safe.

"Finally," Sulie said, voice deep, and a bit breathless. He stepped up to the water and began lapping it up.

The dark leopard froze at the quietly spoken word. He'd thought himself to be alone...but it seemed he'd been mistaken. Red eyes narrowed as Ostium considered the situation. The voice had sounded as if its owner had sought what the leopard himself had - water. If the stranger was drinking, however, the brook's own movement covered up the sounds.

Not yet ready to go back to the trees, but paranoid enough to run for them, Ostium crept towards the area where he'd heard the voice. A cautious paw moved some of the grasses out of the way to reveal...

...a cheetah. Hmph. Well, a cheetah was little threat. They were built for speed and a leopard would still outmass the slenderer feline. Good.

Yes, the water was doing it's job in covering up the sounds of the pawsteps, but the cheetah suddenly felt like he was being watched. Pausing in his drinking, he blinked and picked his head up. "I can feel you watching me," he purred out, thinking it might be some female. The wind wasn't right for whoever it was, thus gender was lost on him. Either way, he turned around and peered out at the grasses before spotting a darker patch.

Huh. "I know you're there, so just come out already, sugar, and we can talk." Assumptions. He was really making an a** out of himself, wasn't he?

The voice was half expected, but unwelcome. Then Ostium realized what the cheetah was saying. Dark eyebrows rose up high. What in the world did this stranger think he was?

Well, probably a female. That was the tone of voice that some used for seduction...right? The leopard couldn't be completely certain, but it seemed to fit.

Therefore, there should be a simple way to fix this.

Ostium took a few steps forward, clearing the grasses entirely so that the cheetah could see how mistaken he was about his spy. He couldn't seduce another male, after all.

When the feline he was talking to came out, Sulie only smirked wider as he looked the other over. Couldn't seduce a male, hm? He purred as he said his next words. "Oh, seems sugar was right. You look as sweet as the honey from flowers." He meant nectar, but whatever. "Tall, dark, and handsome. Cat got you're tongue, pet?" He asked, stepping closer to the leopard. It wasn't like he knew anything about this male, if he would even mind being flirted with by another male. Some took it well, some didn't. It was a game of cat and mouse at this point.

"Tell me, what's your name? I'm Sulie.." The leopard didn't need to know his full name. Sulie would work.

This was not at all how Ostium had envisioned the encounter continuing. The fact that not only had the cheetah not given up, but was instead continuing to flirt with him...it was unbelievable! Except...he kind of had to. Because the cheetah was right here in front of him, still talking.

It was just his luck that he'd managed to stumble upon a total nutjob. Or headcase. Or whatever this...Sulie...was.

As far as the leopard was concerned, this was a dead end. He got the feeling, however, that even if words weren't beyond him, the idiot cheetah wouldn't listen.

So Ostium adopted a threatening pose, and growled at the other feline.

When the leopard took that stance and yet said nothing, Sulie only threw his head back in laughter. The cheetah didn't see it as a complete rejection, as he wasn't told to stop talking. So, instead, he just stopped himself from getting closer and rolled his head from side to side in a lazy manner, his tail flicking just as slow behind him.

"Well, I can't say I'm surprised by that, but honestly, why aren't you talking?" Sulie's never met a mute before. He didn't know there were those that either were born not able to talk, or made like that later in life. His red eyes peered at the dark leopard, curious. "Did you take some vow of silence?"

Well, he had to admit that, given what the cheetah had done already, he wasn't so surprised that Suli wasn't back off due to a growl. Annoying, but predictable. It was his words, however, that made Ostium's lip curl in a snarl and bare his fangs. A vow? As if he'd made some sort of bizarre choice?

Actually, if he could talk, the shadowy leopard would probably be too enraged at this moment to do so.

Then he wondered why he was letting this idiot get to him so badly. After all, they were total strangers and the odds of meeting the white cheetah again were fairly slim.

So Ostium stuck his nose in the air and began to stalk off, ignoring Sulie as best he could.

"Hate to see you go, but love to watch the walk," he called out after the leopard, laughing as he walked away. Well, Sulie couldn't win them all, could he? Still, watching him walk away gave Sulie a bit of a triumphant air around him. It was the first time someone put off with his flirting had walked away instead of just attacking him, so that counted as a win in his book. What he was trying to win he wasn't sure, but none the less, it was a win all the same.

"Bye bye, pretty boy. I'm sure we'll run into each other again."
