Destiny was calling, today was the day that a potential new path in life was opening up for Amaltheia. When she popped out of her basket to see her sisters around her breaking from their nests to the two wonderful guardians that would see their lives through with them, never would she of known what was waiting for her. The time to choose a duty in the herd had come soon enough although it happened so suddenly, that the idea had been more than welcome to her mind. She practically jumped for joy in volunteering for it.
Ama had spent a lot of time asking her parents and everybody else she came across questions, she was attentive and curious to the world and it's creatures. She had seen River a few times within the herd and had been told of the various roles many members had taken upon themselves. When the role of an Advisor came up, it had appealed to her the most. Once the idea was in there, ever since there had been no way to shake it. She had even asked her father for his opinion and had gained his loving support which had made her extremely happy... If not more determined than ever.
Now she was seeking the wondrous Advisor out to ask if she would be so kind to take her on as an apprentice. She wanted to learn everything there was and she was sure River would be the best kind of teacher. She had said hello when passing to her however after her ideal duty had dawned on her, she had grown too shy to speak more than a few words to her. After all, she was like a role model. Someone to strive to be like when she was older and now, it was becoming more apparent that the coming of age ceremony would be upon her and her sisters in no time.
Now she had to make a move, get over the shyness and get to know her teacher properly. An enormous amount of energy was flowing through Ama and combined with the nervous she was shaking unbearably from it. She was taking small steps with her ears back towards where the herd usually grazed, gulping and pondering what she would say or do when she approached the Advisor. Working herself up now when she was so close wouldn't do any good, she knew that but her protest was nothing compared to the force of the emotions that were affecting her body.
Soon the sight of River came. She was beautiful. Her colouration was made up of many different shades but still have a natural earthy look to them like many of their ancestors had before. She wondered at that moment if she had once been apart of the herd her father came from or if she knew of others. Questions she would save for another time. Taking the last steps towards the grazing mare, Amaltheia gulped. As much as she tried not to stammer, the words came out fumbling.
"H-h-hello there R-river." She blushed, looking at her from under the leaves of her mane. "I w-was wondering... I-i-f I could... Erm, ask you s-something."

For a mare her age, River's days were that of a slower speed than most. She wandered amongst the herd, spoke to a few in passing and was nothing if not friendly. She had given her fair share of grief to others at her youth, raised two trios of healthy offspring, and had all around enjoyed so many experiences that now - now was a peaceful time in her life.
She had just began to lower her head to graze as a young foal approached her. With a slight twitch of her ears she smiled and stopped mid-motion to listen to the filly. Amaltheia. She had noticed the girl around the herd with her siblings and off on her own, she was that of a interesting character. Not loud in the obnoxious way, but certainly curious and smart as a whip.
"Of course m'dear. What's on your mind?"
River's voice was soft and yet inquisitive. She was always up for answering questions but her favorite had to be from the foals in the herd. So many times they left her with more questions than she had answers for them, but that was half the fun.

Although her approach had been less than graceful, especially the poorly structured wording, River made no move to bring her up on her nerves which she highly appreciated. She watched as River stopped in the motion to graze to show Ama that she had her attention, at first she froze allowing her big, bright and innocent eyes to take in the larger figure. She forgot for a moment what she was going to ask her, as she noticed that she may of interrupted her or caught her off guard so she made a quick notion to correct her rude confrontation.
Not such a great start, maybe she was reading too much in to it but she had been brought up to be more polite than to barge in to someone's personal space and time. River's soft voice comforted her, it was soft to her ears;gentle. The essence of a kind spirit lingering within it. Ama was grateful that she chose to listen to her and give her the time of day and to apologise for her abruptness she lowered herself in to a bow, hanging her head before her and closing her eyes.
"Please forgive my abruptness, Advisor. My eagerness clouded my better judgement." She nodded, slowly bringing herself up to a stand. That heat on her cheeks rising to dangerous levels. She remembered that whilst practising with her father with what an Advisor may be asked of, he bowed in respect to her. His antlers caging around both her sides. Eyes flashing back to the mares emeralds once more, she offered a pleasant smile.
"I came here today to ask if you would so kindly consider taking me on as your apprentice." She paused for a moment, eyes glistening with both hope and terror. It only occurred to her now that the mare could also say no, that she wasn't ready. What would she do if she refused? Even with the possibility clasping at her heart, she refused to give up hope and stood patiently before her awaiting the respectable cerynei's decision.
