It still felt a little weird to be back in her usual routine. It felt like she had lived an entire life outside of her own, and the effects still lingered fresh in her mind. The school gates somewhat reminded her of the tall, twisted archways in the Revenge Kingdom, and the daily routine often felt like she should be doing something else, something important...but no, it was just school.
Not that she was complaining.
Today she had gone back to her job for the first time in a week or so, the manager upset but understanding, knowing that she attended Amityville and that the school itself was...a little bit of a magnet for disaster. It was nice to be working again, to put her mind towards the minipets who really didn't care who she was, what she had done in the past, and what had been done to her; all they cared about was how much attention she paid to them now, and what kind of treats she gave them. That kind of innocent loyalty and love was very refreshing after everything that had happened.
It was on her way back to Amityville that she spotted someone familiar, an Undead Dragon she hadn't seen in a while...and a very disobedient looking Lepus Guide? oh dear, those pets were a little hard to handle...
"Um, excuse me? Is everything okay?"

Cyrilla was sitting on a fence, tail twitching about with agitation as Rick spouted off at her from at her feet. It had been like this all morning. You mention one thing about that one part of the old triad, and he was off life it was the end of the world.
"Did you know?" he started again, for the dozenth time. Not to mention he was holding one of her bangles hostage.
"I know, I know!" she snipped back at it, tail finally dipping down to poke at it's nose. "I don't care though. Can't you just let it slide this once? It's not that big of a deal. It's not like anything has even hap-" her head snapped to attention, looking over to the voice that called out.
The dracolich tilted her head to the side, squinting at the other ghoul. She looked familiar, but she just... couldn't quite place it.
Rick, the Lepus Guide, hopped over towards Amrita, sizing her up. "Did you know gnomes can live for nine days headless?" Cyrilla groaned.
"I'm sorry." she offered the other ghoul,"He's in a mood." Rick hopped around Amrita then, trying to nab at her sash.
"Rick!" the dracolich snapped again, even hissing out a thin line of blue from her lips.
"Leave her alone!"

"And did you know that a Lepus Guide can't sprout more than fifty-eight facts a day before they implode?" Amrita informed the lepus guide as cheerfully as possible, reaching down to pat the annoying little green thing in the head.
"It's okay! They're chatterboxes anyway. We have some FEAR candies at work that's kind of like a peanut butter, where it'll shut them up for a bit trying to get it out of their mouths." She explained, frowning slightly as it tried to grab her bloody sash. "I can get some for you if you like~!" The piece itself was from a Hunter, and the blood on it belonged to said Hunter as well; she hated him with a passion, but she liked his scarf. So she pulled it out of the lepus' way and unwrapped it from her waist, instead putting it around her neck like it should be.
"It's okay, I'm used to it~ But you look very familiar...what's your name, again?"

Rick gave an unimpressed HUFF when the sash was pulled from his reach. His mouth opened, likely to spout of some random factoid at her, but stopped suddenly.
He'd lost track of what he'd spouted already for the day. He really didn't want to implode either! Fine. You win this time lady! The agitated Lepus Guide hopped back towards Cyrilla, flopping down on his butt, crossing his little green arms across his chest.
"Those sound amazing. I'll definitely have to get some." there was a brief pause before she continued. "I don't suppose you guys sell muzzles to..."
Rick glared up at the dracolich ghoul, who just grinned toothily back at him.
"I'm kidding." she mused before returning her attention to the other ghoul.
"I'm Cyrilla, and I was thinking the same about you." she chuckled. "I can't seem to place your name either, though."

When the Lepus silenced himself, Amrita stood a little straighter. Take that! She paused long enough to wink at Cyrilla as the pet sat and grumped, hoping that her little fact would make life just slightly easier for the other ghoul.
"Great! I'll bring some back next time if I don't see you there first! And yes, we do~" Muzzles were a wonderful invention, and she was sure that her fellow Undead wasn't actually joking for that very same reason. Right now she was honestly counting her stars; she'd take her sick Death Charm over a chatterbox know-it-all Lepus. When Cyrilla gave her name Amrita snapped her fingers, index finger pointing in a EUREKA moment.
"Ah, yes! I remember, I used to see you around Merope and Aymet all the time! I'm Amrita~" Her backwards hand then levelled out, indicating a short height. "But I was probably about this big when I saw you last!" It'd been a while, but disappearing students weren't uncommon here, for better or for worse. "It's good to see you again, what've you been up to?"

Cyrilla's face spread into a wide grin as Amrita offered to bring some of the FEAR candies back, in case she didn't make it out to the shop. Though, she was definitely considering the muzzle, so the chances were good she'd be out to pick it all up herself.
The dracolich's eyes widened in surprise as the other ghoul's fingers were suddenly snapping together. Her head pulled back and her wings tucked around herself, being more than just a little bit startled.
"Oh... OH!" Once Amrita explained herself, she relaxed again, wings falling to her back. Reaching down with her tail she pulled up the Lepus Guide and stuck him up on the fence with her.
"Heh. Yeah... I sure did hang out with them back then." There was something off in the tone of her voice, but it didn't last long as her head shook.
"Nice to meet you Amrita! You, you really grew up then, huh?" she mused a bit, the grin returning to her face. "I think I remember seeing you around a few times! Don't think we ever got to talk much though." she paused for a moment, trying to decide how to answer the ghoul's question.
"Haven't been up to much, actually." she looked a little embarrassed, "Actually I was sleeping. Believe it or not. Heh."

If Amrita noticed that she had started Cyrilla, she didn't draw attention to it. Her thoughts were in the clouds, recalling foggy old memories of the Undead creature before her. What was left of her lips played into a little smile that stayed put even as confusion flickered briefly in her eye. Did? Back then? Those were words that she picked up on more than anything, and they somewhat concerned her...especially once the slight tone change was brought in. She didn't get much of a chance to dwell on it though, as the formalities continued.
"Oh, um, you too! And uh...you could...say that..." Amrita chuckled, her fingers burying into her braid to fidget with it. Grew up was certainly a way to put it, and much faster than I got tired of being a rotting child and wanted to look my age so I asked my friends to build me a new body and they did. Yes. 'Grew up' was definitely the better option. "Yeah, same! One of those I-saw-you-around but never really talked! Well, we're changing that now!" The Vetala seemed proud of herself, especially where it concerned potentially making a new friend.
"...Wow, sleeping, really? This whole time? Are you okay?" Concern for a mostly-stranger took over again, her face pinching in mild worry. She didn't know anyone who slept that long, especially not an Undead! Barth could, but Cyrilla certainly didn't look like a Sloth Demon to her. The expression flickered for only a moment as she instead pointed to an empty spot on the fence.
"Mind if I join you?"

"Definitely changing that! And, sure, there's lots of room up here! Not a bad place to perch." She nodded and scooted a bit to make sure that Amrita could get up comfortably on the fence. The dracolich was definitely interested in making new friends, especially ghouls. She'd only ever really hung out with Aymet and Merope last time, and she loved them both dearly, but... they weren't ghouls and sometimes it was nice to have a ghoulfriend to talk to.
"Yeah I'm alright. It wasn't so much sleeping, really. It's just the easiest way I can explain it. Maybe hibernating is a good word. Either way, it wasn't intentional." she thought about it for a moment, tugging lightly at one of the earrings that hung from her headfins.
"It was more like I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, a very long time had passed. I didn't realize it at first. It took a bit to catch on. It's really weird, you know? I'll be jacked if things haven't changed a lot since I lay down." Cyrilla's tail began to twitch about. She reached a clawed hand down and drew it up to her lap, wrapping the end around her wrist. Talking to Amrita about it was actually easier than she had expected it to be. She just found the words tumbling out of her mouth. She hadn't been able to do this with Merope. Leaving it at just, a really long nap. Maybe it was the fact that she hadn't really known her before, maybe it was because she didn't seem angry about her long nap and more concerned.
It was hard for her to say, really.
But it was nice.

"Thanks!" The Patchwork climbed onto the fence and shimmied about, getting herself comfortable and locking her backwards feet against the post just below the one she sat on. "I don't think I've ever sat on a fence before~" She mused out loud, her fingers once more burying into her braid to fidget. A strange feeling bubbled into the pit of her stomach, and suspicion started to rear it's ugly head: to have fallen asleep so fast, and have little knowledge of what happened? That seemed...very suspicious. Hunters were crafty buggers, after all.
"Oh...that seems really inconvenient...does your kind usually do that? Hibernate?" The ghoul tried to sympathize or at least understand how it would feel to just...pass out and wake up a 'very long time' later. "How long were you sleeping, then? 'Cause...a lot of stuff happens around here, yanno? I could probably help you catch up if nobody else has~" Part of her wished sincerely that this ghoul knew about the Hunters. It would make explaining everything else so much easier, but something told her that wouldn't be the case.
Hopefully the ghoul wasn't a Hunter, or a Hunter in disguise, or a test subject of some sort.
Hopefully it was all just a normal but still slightly odd thing that happened from time to time.

"No? Well, do something new everyday." the dracolich grinned a bit.
"Uh..." the dracolich grinned sheepishly, tapping her long clawed fingers along the fence. "Well, Merope informed me it's been over a year." she laughed nervously, shaking her head.
"Yup... over a year." the nervous laugh and smile curled into a bit of a grimace. The thought still aggravated her. If she could offer an explanation for it, she would have. Sadly, she had no more than that.
"I do not hibernate, so no. It is not something I expected to happen. Heh. Though I would be more than welcome to have you catch me up. Merope is endeared to me, but I don't think he's quite ready to pick up the pieces in their entirety yet. I... I appreciate the effort he is making though, but I haven't been able to bring myself to ask about much."
If Cyrilla could hear the thoughts that had been bouncing around in Amrita's head, she'd likely have laughed herself to tears. Hunters in disguise would have been ridiculous sounding to her, having never experienced them in any form.
The idea that she could have -been- one of them, would have amused her more.

"Yeah! And learn something new every day, too~" Amrita agreed with a smile, some part of her still very suspicious of this ghoul. The suspicion was relaxing as she spoke though, explaining the situation; it was still very concerning to hear that hibernating wasn't something she did. Randomly falling asleep for a year was a very bad thing to happen...or so she could only assume.
"Err, well, that might take me longer than a little chat on a fence so...Maybe a little bit at a time?" Amrita's backward fingers poited together, tenting almost shyly. "It'd be a lot to digest...the schol kind of went nuts in this last year or so." As she listened though, her train of thought wandered to Merope. Poor, sweet Merope. Confused little Merope. Lonely Merope. Yes, she could see him doing the very thing Cyr was saying...he had a tough time, it was never easy to pull out of that even for a friend.
"Ah...yeah...But you know what? Let me worry about filling you in. You just...keep trying to patch things up with him. Maybe try to get him to open up a bit more, hmm? He's had a rough time, I think he needs an old friend." Part of her wondered if he would get mad at her for saying these things to Cyrilla, but...she couldn't help it. She worried about her fellow undead.

"Sure, I'd like that, actually." Cyrilla beamed a bit, drawn from her own thoughts, at the suggestion of meeting up with this ghoul again. It could certainly be fun. She seemed nice enough, and being caught up on everything would come in handy.
"School went nuts?" the dracolich tilted her head. The school had been crazy enough as it stood, to hear someone say it 'went nuts in this last year'? That as akin to something beyond. Had Christmastown and that lot not been enough?
The mention that Merope had been through a bad year made her wince. The Leviathan's comment asking her where his friend had been when he'd needed her still stung. She suffered through it, quickly pushing a smile back on her face.
"Yeah. Maybe. Hopefully." her words trailed off at the end, the but smile persisted.
"Not really giving him an option of my company either." she meant that. He was stuck with her again, whether he liked it or not.
Sorry Merope.

"Good! Maybe in that coffee shop at the maul? I hear they've got Hot Shocklate that'll make your tongue tingle!" She had always wanted to try it, especially after trying the shocklate eyescream. Plus apparently friends were supposed to talk in coffee shops, so that was like...two birds with one stone! Yay for pretending school life was just school life!
"You can do it! I think you're exactly what he needs right now, really-" She repeated herself, trying to make her point land home one way or another. "Keep at it! He'll warm up to you. Hey, maybe we can get a group together and go somewhere! Lizzy was telling me about this place with roller coasters...I don't know what a roller coaster is, but it sounded like fun!" Amrita was absolutely thrilled to have the chance to be like the teens she read in books and saw on TV. So much so that she forgot for a moment that she was supposed to be catching Cyrilla up on the events in Amityville. The Patchwork cleared her throat, her wrists crossing so she could tap her fingertips together almost shyly.
"Oh! Um...M-maybe you should tell me what you remember last?" Right, the point!

"Hmm, that sounds like fun." Cyrilla certainly liked the idea of going to the maul with Amrita. She'd only been there a handful of times before, mostly to pick up games to play with the boils. Not that she would have complained about that, but maybe it would be nice to try something different. Something simple...
Something that didn't involve having her tail kicked from one end of the game to the next. Hah.
"You're right." she finally conceded to the other. "I'm sure it'll be fine." her attention perked at the next idea that Amrita threw her way. She had no idea what roller coasters were either, but getting together in a group to do stuff sounded like a lot of fun too!
Her tail finally dropped from her wrist, no longer nervous. "Roller coasters sound great too. We should definitely do that sometime!"
The final question caught her off guard though.
What was the last thing she remembered. Merope had left... there'd been, a haunted house? She hadn't gone to it though. It was shortly after, perhaps during that, when she'd fallen asleep.
"Halloween. Heh. Err, not the last one either. The one before that." she admitted, rather embarrassed by the fact. "So, yeah. Been a - a long while."

Amrita's only fleshy eye widened in absolute joy as her acquaintance - and now new friend! - agreed to the many ideas she had spewed. Coffee. Roller coasters. Fun! This would be fantastic! She could actually try to be like the teenagers she saw outside of school! On Tv! Ahhhh so she was so excited! The Undead ghoul wiggled on her spot on the fence, her hands happily twisting her hair.
That all faded as they got back to the more serious issue at hand: catching Cyrilla up. She needed that timeline to better help the ghoul, and when she had the last time...the Halloween before last? Oh Jack that was a long time ago! Her expression pinched with concentration, chewing on what was left of her fleshy lip.
"Halloween before last...Halloween before last...hrm..." She repeated, scouring her own memories for helpful timelines. That was around when the Hunters first appeared, wasn't it? She couldn't quite remember, it was all such a painful blur...
"Umm...okay well let me try it this way..." Something in her demeanour changed. Everything about her seemed to get quieter, and she seemed to start to withdraw into herself; but more than that something burned in her eyes. An anger she tried so hard to hide, buried keep within her broken, diseased core.
"...Do you know who the Hunters are?"
