Mitsu often spent her sleeping hours drifting between that world of sleep and awake. She never truly slumbered, not like she should, drifting into a dream often meant nightmares of some variety or another. Some new and some old and a few were somewhere in between. Vicious smiles and nameless faces, needles and scalpels, drills and bone chilling laughter that seemed to come from every angle. She didn't want to experience any of it and often jerked herself awake before darkness could fully overtake her.

It wasn't always so easy though. From time to time the lycan would find herself feeling a little too comfortable warm and snuggled into the blankets of her bed. In those rare moments those long awaited hours of sleep would claim her, pulling her down into the depths of darkness where there was no escape. She could feel herself drifting, feeling mentally calm for a moment until she realized where she was. Mitsu was far from mastering her ability to control her own dreams but was getting fairly good at realizing she was in one. It usually only made things worse when she did, it was only a matter of time before things fell apart.

She stood tensed in the darkness, waiting for the blinding white light or the streak of blood up the walls. Perhaps the echoing laughter in the darkness would be the first to greet her. Hugging herself tightly she turned but continued to see nothing outside of her little spot of dim light. It wasn't a matter of ‘if’ it was only a matter of when. Things usually fell into place shortly after she realized she was in a dream. She would struggle to control it only to let things get out of hand before she woke up screaming to the point she would lose her voice.

Anxiety struck her hard as she waited, her eyes drifting this way and that so it was no surprise when a hand touched her shoulder that Mitsu let out a shriek. An echoing shriek resounded behind her as she jerked forward and turned sharply shrieking again because of the loud noise. Again there was a similar shriek and Mitsu turned to find herself, or at least a similar version of herself standing there in odd clothes huddled in on herself waiting like she was ready to scream again.

The lycan stood frozen for a moment, eyes focused on the other Mitsu before she looked around wondering what was going to happen. This was…rather new.

Umm….hello.” The fragment took a cautious step forward, eyes focused on Mitsu’s face.

The lycan’s response was to take a step back, eyes just as focused on this odd reflection of herself. “S-s-stop right there.” She warned.

It’s alright. I’m not here to hurt you.” The fragment stopped advancing, her tone soft and gentle like she was talking to a child. “We really are different…” The other Mitsu stated, looking the lycan up and down.

W-who are you?” Mitsu asked, looking around again to make sure nothing was about to reach out and snatch her.

That’s rather complicated to answer.” The fragment explained. “I was created from your memories I was made from bits and pieces of your personality and placed in a world very different than this one. It’s gone now as well as the people in it but…somehow I ended up here with you. Maybe it was because of my wish.

Y..your wish?” Mitsu relaxed a little but did not move closer. She was still a little leery even if this was only a dream.

Yes, I didn’t want to be forgotten.” The fragment began to move around the darkness, her eyes taking in the void as if there was something to see. “There was a boy from your world that made a promise to me not to forget. He said he knew you rather well. Shun.

The name drop certainly had Mitsu’s attention but she was so lost and confused about what was going on. How had Shun made this ghoul a promise if she came from a different world? “What do you want with me?

I….wanted to see you, know about you and maybe learn about the person I was patterned after.” The fragment turned to look at the real Mitsu then, a sheepish smile on her face. “Maybe to ask for a selfish favor.

Favor?

The fragment nodded. “My existence is nothing but a memory now. Something rather small but it’s all I have. You are different because you are not made of fragmented memories. You are actually real. If you would allow I wanted to share my memories with you so that perhaps someone else would know. I don’t want to just fade away.

Mitsu seemed hesitant but moved a little closer now, her gaze questioning and unsure. “Is…that all? You just want to share what you know?

Again the fragment nodded. “That’s all I have to pass on. Maybe this is my chance at a second life in a way. I can live on through you.

Again Mitsu seemed unsure but finally looked toward the fragment and nodded. “Alright. I’ll listen.

The fragment only smiled and stepped a bit closer until she was within reaching distance of the lycan. “It would probably be easier if I showed you.” Lifting her hands she placed them on either side of the lycan’s face to hold her in place. Closing her eyes the fragment leaned forward and placed her forehead against Mitsu’s. In a flash, everything changed around them. Mitsu could feel a tug as she was pulled through her dream to a place she didn't recognize. It was huge and full of people from all walks of life. Were they all monsters? It certainly looked like they were. She stepped aside to avoid the people rushing by on hover bikes, flailing as she nearly ran into someone but they merely passed through her. They weren't real after all. Hold on...that person looked a little familiar hadn't they?

Come, I have a lot to show you.” The fragment beckoned Mitsu forward, smiling faintly seeing how distressed the lycan was, staring so wide eyed at the people around her. “Don’t worry. You’re safe here.

I…if you say so.” Mitsu followed the fragment further into this dream…no..this memory. Despite how small she said her memory was Mitsu had a feeling she had a lot to share.

Waking came after a fair amount of time had passed. Mitsu couldn't remember the last time she woke from a dream not screaming her head off. She rose groggily from her bed, the blankets wrapped tightly around her. It had been such an odd dream. Or was it really a memory? It seemed so real and detailed but Mitsu had never seen a place like that before. The White Kingdom. Maybe Shun would know. If anything it was important to ask if they made Panda robots or not.
