Jake tossed and tumbled, landing on the floor with an "oof". Just a moment ago, he was on some weird island, surrounded by ruins, turned into some freakish furry dog/gem thing, and now he was...
He froze. Damn. This place looked really familiar...
WHAT?!
Wait. So did that mean he was... He looked down, and instantly regretted it. His hands were still paws, yet... they looked kinda strange. We're those... webs? He had... furry webbed feet. And his back felt really heavy for some reason...
It was probably a good thing none of the techs were around at the moment, because if so, they would see something like this:

Armagnac's voice was sharp, and laced with something Sherry almost identified as sarcasm. She wasn't quite sure, though. She was no longer on that island. In fact...it looked very much like she was home. Home but still... A look down confirmed it. She was still a minipet. Crap. She was a decidedly different minipet, and from her vantage point, a furry type of....why did her belly remind her of a turtle shell? Sherry looked back up, and then around. "Um..." Minipet, on Deus Island. Sherry had a sneaking suspicion that wasn't an ideal situation. And holy crap. What about -- "Jake?"

Hearing his name, his ears twitched, and he turned. "Sher-AHHHHHH!"
He lept back a let out a hiss, and realizing he had done so, blinked and shook his head. "Damn it, this is going to take some getting used to."
Lifting a webbed paw, the stretched it out, inspecting it. Huh, he still had his wristband, and glove. And the scar too.
He lifted a paw, patting at the cross around his neck. This too. Just having the necklace seemed to calm him down a bit.
"... So. We're back on Deus, and we're stuck as some kind of... creature." He stared at Sherry "From the looks of it, some kind of messed-up offspring of a cat and turtle." Seriously. Minipets were so weird.GrnGriff I'm sorry for the wait ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Jake's reaction had been much more pronounced than her own, but Sherry had to agree with him. "Yeah." She looked down at her own paws again. Well. This...complicated things. No help. That's what you are. Sherry's attention went back to Jake as he started talking again. She nodded at the first part, but at the second, "I dunno. I think they're kind of cute." As she spoke she moved closer to Jake, eying him. It seemed like they were the same species, though clearly different colors. "For a minipet, at any rate." Her ears twitched, anxiety creeping up inside her. "So. What do you think we should do?"

He was still staring at his paw, flexing it, and hadn't noticed that Sherry had moved closer. "Cute. Yah ri-"
He looked up to see her face inches from his, and instinctively smacked his paw down, ears drooping as he scooted back. Personal space, man, personal space.
He frowned at her question, tail flicking irritatingly. "Hell if I should know. Figure out how to turn ourselves back to normal for one."

Sherry's own ears perked forward at Jake's reaction. What? It wasn't like she'd been touching him. Though she did wonder what the fur would feel like... "Well, I suppose we could try and find someone to help us. Though..." she glanced around, her ears drooping slightly, "I don't know how good of an idea that is." Had she heard whispers about hunters and minipets recently in the labs? Maybe. Not like she had been paying attention, though. "Do...do you think going back to the island would help?" That was clearly the source of their problem. Perhaps it could be the cure, too?

He froze, remembering the minipet labs. ... No. HELL no. And he had no desire to go back to that island. Who knows what OTHER kinds of abominations they'd be turned into, not to mention if they ran into another shadow creature...
"...No. I'm going back to my room, and when I wake up, everything had better be back to normal." And then he started to walk... waddle towards the dorm.

"What?" Sherry's ears perked, perfectly indicating her shock. "You can't be serious."
Her eyes went from one side to the other as she glanced around again. Her ears flattened. Wariness. Then she more or less went bounding after Jake.
"And what if it's not back to normal?" She pulled up next to him, super close and everything. Did their shells just touch? Yes, yes they did. Sherry wasn't used to this body, ok.
"What will we do then?"

Yes. <...And how long do you think it'll take you to get to your room?> I-
Though he wasn't exactly a TURTLE turtle and didn't have the speed of one, he found it quite hard to walk properly with this damn shell in the way. Not to mention the shell was pretty heavy.
"I'll manage." he muttered, both to Chester and Sherry, and probably to himself too. Though, he hadn't gotten much farther until Sherry caught up, and... somehow, with the close proximity, the shell bumping against his, he managed to lose his balance and flip over.

"................. I hate you all."

Sherry turned her head, hoping for a response. Instead, all she got was a great view of Jake as he came to a rest on his back. Really? Truly? Way to fail, Jake, way to fail.
The Life trainee turned minipet stopped, turned, and walked/waddled the few steps over to Jake. "Oh, you don't mean that."
Sherry was rather close to Jake now, looking him in face. She kind of plopped her rump down so she was sitting and looked at him for a moment before she raised her left paw and placed it lightly on his upside down shoulder. "Just how turtle-like are we? Can you get up?"

The fluffly grumpy death trainee was now looking at the curious fluffy life trainee... upside down. Damn it, this made his head hurt, and having her face so close didn't help matters.
"Don't touch me. Go away." A rumbling sound that sounded somewhat like a growl rumbled in his throat, and he reached out his paws and tried to swat at her. All it really ended up looking like was him swatting at an invisible ball of yarn.
In fact, as he was trying to get up again, it just looked like... he was doing synchronized swimming in the air as he flailed his arms and legs.
"What does it LOOK like I'm doing?" <... Aerobatics?> Go to hell.

Could her turtlecatthing face smile? If so, she was totally doing that. She had moved her paw away when he'd acted like he might swat her, but as soon as she realized that threat was empty, her paw had found it's way back to his shoulder. Just because she could.
"It looks like...you've fallen and you can't get up." She laughed the slightest bit. She then stood back up and inched a slight bit closer, sure it meant she had to remove her paw from his shoulder, but alas, it was a small price to pay. He seemed harmless in this state.
"Would you," her face was really close to his, "like some help?"

Now there was something sounding close to a hiss escaping his mouth. "Come any closer, and I'll spit in your eye."
It was an empty threat at most, since with his impeccable aim (and memorable experience from when he tried something like that), the spit would probably land in his own eye. ... It wouldn't stop him from trying though, should she not heed his warning. With her face so close, there was no way he could miss, right?
Shut up. I don't want your input.
... You just want to see Sherry as a bunny again, don't you?
No. Don't even.
No. AND DON'T YOU-
An image of a Sherry-looking bunny flashed in his mind, running through a grassy field. ... which was then joined by millions more.
If anyone within close proximity had been paying attention, they would have heard a strange strangled sound akin to the sound a dying cat would make. It sounded very pitiful... and in pain.GrnGriff I TOTALLY MADE IT WORK, HUZZAH. /killed

Sherry just stood there staring at him, and trying not to laugh. She didn't move in any closer, but she didn't back away either.
At least not until he screeched or whatever. Dear lord, what was that noise?! Unexpected and loud (she had been right next to him!) it did send her scrambling back a step or two.
Ears lowered in caution and muscles tense like a cat ready to pounce, Sherry eyed Jake with look full of worry and surprise. "What?! What's wrong?"

His eyes shut tight, he was still yowling pitifully, limbs moving sluggishly.
Kill me now. Please.
You horrible horrible liar. I want my sanity back.
A pitiful meow, and he started to rock back and forth, trying to use the momentum to flip it back over. All it really ended up doing was make him dizzy and nauseous.
"Sherry. Kill me now. Put me out of my misery." He gave her a pitiful stare... upside down. "I don't want to live anymore."
