No matter what anyone said, Madeline was not sulking. Despite the jutting lip and the crease of brows and the fact that her dorm room was swung open wide and the insides seemed to have been gutted into chaos, she was definitely, most certainly, absolutely not sulking. She was, however, about to blow something up. Or shoot someone.
"Where did it go?" She snapped into the empty space, throwing her arms above her head in a show of exaggerated anger, as though her bed and her messily folded sheets would judge her performance and spit out her missing books. It wasn't that Forensics and Atlas of Human Anatomy were necessarily her most precious treasures, but she was damn well certain she'd had them at the start of the month, and now they'd somehow scampered off into the dark abyss of her closet - or into someones thieving fingers.
Swearing a fluent stream of Spanish curses that would make even the most thick-skulled sailor blush, Madeline turned on her heel and stomped out of the room. It was only when she'd pushed open the doors to the building and stepped out into the late winter sun that she realized one thing - she'd completely forgotten to dress decently, still clad in short shorts and a slouching knit sweater that wasn't even made to be warm. Her feet also hit frost and stone and she instantly regretted her decision to run off in search of something to punch.

He was not in his house mostly because, if Gale were a normal seventeen year old, he might have actually admitted that he wanted to go have fun and hang out with other people. As it was, he was most definitely not lonely and wondering where everyone had gotten to, he was merely examining the grounds again, like usual.

Never, because it isn't true.

That is wildly untrue.

Is - "Ow."
He'd run smack dab into something - or rather, someone that had just come barreling out of the dorm building. Gale stumbled backwards a few steps and almost fell, but managed to catch himself at the last moment. Rubbing his nose, he looked up.
"Oh," he said, blinking. "Madeline. Hey."

"Motherfuc - ah," Madeline stumbled back and rubbed her chest - nice going, Gale, - peering down at the culprit with a raised brow. "Hi, sunshine." She returned, readjusting the knit sweater and shivering. "Oh, <********>, I really need to remember that this body is not made for subzero goddamn temperatures."
Which was an obvious exaggeration of how cold it was but shut up guys, she did what she wanted.
Placing her knuckles against the curves of her hips, Madeline tilted her head at Gale with a curious grin. "What are you doing out here all alone, boyo?" She asked, rolling an auburn curl around one of her fingers absently.
( He was probably trying to get away from all of the crazies, like you. ) Arsen rasped somewhere inside of her head, his voice scratchy like gravel and smoke.
Shut it.
( Oh, sweet thing, you would miss me far too much if I did. )
Madeline inwardly scowled.
Of course he was right, and it was true, and he totally knew it, but that didn't mean she had to appease him with an answer.
Instead she turned back to Gale and smiled. Time to have some fun.

Gale's eyes flickered towards Madeline's...somewhat-less-than-helpful clothing. "Do you, er...want my jacket or something...?" he asked, a little lamely, since he was still significantly shorter than her and she probably wouldn't fit in it anyway.
"Oh," he said, and blew out his breath in a gust of cold, visible air. "I, er..."

Shut up.
"I was just taking a walk," Gale finished, his cheeks flushing. I'm pathetic.
<< Yes you are. >>
Shut up.
"So, er," Gale coughed. "What are you doing out here?"
