She wanted a beautiful dress to impress Gwen with, and so Anandi Rai was at the mall. She was ogling every dress in every window her eyes landed on. So many pretty things to see and options to consider! Anandi wasn't sure what to do - did she go with a sweet Springtime dress with floral print and soft colors? Or an exciting, vibrant summer dress the color of a clear blue sky, decorated with orange slices?
Anandi Rai had no idea what to do. She had sixty dollars in her pocket and too many options to consider. Huffing, she decided to go back to a lower-end store and consider getting a dress plus cute wedge shoes. "Hmm..."
Quickly she turned to go back to the previous store and she rammed right into a raven-haired young lady. Flustered, Anandi sputtered out several apologies to her and offered her hand to the girl. "Oh my! Oh dear, I am so so so sorry! Are you alright? You didn't break anything, right? Oh dear, oh dear..."

Today was one of those days when Delilah got up, looked at herself in the mirror and hated everything she saw. No shirt fit right. All her shoes seemed too small. And Pants...oh don't even get her started. She hated them all.
In a few days she would be over this once that favorite thing of women passed but today, Delilah was feeling it 10 fold. Heaven help her not do anything dumb.
Just as she was heading towards one of her favorite stores, something caught her eye. In the window of one was their new spring line and a very light purple dress caught her eye. Had it not been winter, she might have gone in and tried it on.
Two steps away and Delilah felt herself run into a train. In the blink of an eye she was on the floor looking up at some very concerned girl. Her lips thinned by Delilah closed her eyes. "I am fine." She said as calmly as she could while ignoring the hand to stand up. "Just fine. Add sore tailbone to my list today and things are wonderful..."

"Oh dear oh dear oh dear!" cried Anandi, slapping her hands to her cheeks. "I'm so sorry! I should have been watching where I was going..." The dark-skinned girl rushed to check the other for injuries. My, she seemed very grumpy but who wouldn't be after being run over? Oh dear. She had to make this right somehow or she wouldn't be able to live with herself! Sputtering, Anandi tried to think of something. "Can I make it up to you somehow? Are you hungry? Umm... are you shopping too? I'm looking for a dress but if you're busy... I mean! I certainly wouldn't mind company but if you're here with someone--!" Goodness, she was just making this worse, wasn't she?

For a moment Delilah did nothing. Her annoyed, hormone filled head was trying to process what in the world the other female was saying. It took her a moment before it all became clear. Then Delilah bit her tongue. In this state, all she wanted to say was to leave her alone. Yet she knew she would regret that once she calmed down.
Inhaling a bit, Delilah presented a softer look trying to release some tension.
"Just me, myself and I." Delilah responded brushing her bangs behind her ears. "What sort of dress? Prom is still several months away. Though I did just pass a store with new spring clothes if you haven't looked."

Anandi shook her head. "Oh no no, it's not for Prom, although..." The Indian girl didn't even think of that. Oh no now she had PROM TO WORRY ABOUT. She would put that into the back of her mind for now because she had a more important mission! "No, I'm simply looking for a nice Spring dress so I can wear it for special occasions! Like dates! I know the stores are all having winter clearances and I picked up a coat last week but... oh the dresses are so pretty..." The giggly one couldn't help but notice how lovely Delilah's hair and eyes were. "Oh how rude of me! I should introduce myself. My name is Anandi. I go to HITS. I don't think I've seen you there. What's your name and where do you study?"

Delilah had to smile at the girl as she saw the panic form at the mention of prom and then it suddenly go back to a happiness. So she must have a boyfriend and wanted to look good for him. Delilah couldn't help but let go of a bit of the frustration as she rolled her eyes softly.
"You are right. The new items are rather beautiful. Still a bit too high on the price for my right now." Shrugging, Delilah motioned to the dress in the window behind them with a nice price tag hanging beside it. She would wait a month for when it was on sale. "But if you need something for a date, I am sure some of the department stores might have something nice."
When introductions started, Delilah realized her chance to slip away was over and done with. She was stuck. Inwardly groaning and paying a cramp didn't hit her, she nodded in response. "Delilah. I'm a student at Crystal but I don't know if 'study' is the right word for it." The girl grinned at the comment before giving a shrug. All girl school had it's ups and downs.

Anandi's eyes lit up. "Oh, you're a Crystal girl! I've heard Crystal Academy is so very fancy. Is that true? Do you like it here?" The dark-skinned girl was quite animated when excited, so her head moved to and fro and her hands moved with every sentence. "I'm studying software and database engineering myself and I'm hoping there's a job out there for me when I finish but I try not to worry about that too much." she said with a giggle. Delilah seemed... tired. "Have you eaten yet, Miss Delilah? I could buy you lunch as a way of apologizing for nearly running you over!"

Anandi had a thousand and one questions ready for almost anything it seemed. Delilah had to wonder if the girl ever was finished but in a way, she also had to give her credit. It kept a conversation moving and when one was not in the mood, having a person like Anandi around would be wonderful.
Softening her smile, Delilah calmly answered. "It's not bad. I don't know what the rumors say but it is a bit nicer than say Meadow." Which was true for the amount of money her father paid. As for liking it, well loaded question she was going to dodge for now. But her face showed how taken aback she was hearing this bubbly thing talking engineering? Shows you can't judge a book by it's over.
"The miss isn't needed. I'm not THAT old!" Delilah sighed. She felt that old today. "Honestly, coffee and we can call it even." With a nod towards the food court, she turned to walk.
"So is HITS really all they say? Only the brightest of the bright?"
