WE ARE HALLOWEEN Sun Hunter SHADOW RUN General Information The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel. Simply roll for attack as you would in battle. If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings. After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.

Status Wave: 1 Attack Dmg: 8 Total Shadowlings taken out: 8 Recoveries left: 1 He may have been a Death Hunter, but doing the Sun Hunter's training course just felt exhilarating. Besides, most missions always involved getting swarmed and attacked anyway. It wasn't a useless affair, and he sure as Hell was getting a lot of stress relief from it. In came the first wave. Tenya was summoned quickly as Otto ran at full speed toward the dark shadowy abyss of the swarm. With a yell, he lashed out in one swoop of his weapon, followed by a second, taking out four enemies with each swing.

Status Wave: 2 Attack Dmg: 4 Total Shadowlings taken out: 8 + 4 = 12 Recoveries left: 1 Four enemies stood out from the masses surrounding him. Running toward the center of the gaggle, Otto took a spin. Swinging Tenya in 2 full circles, he took them all out.

Status Wave: 3 Attack Dmg: 10 Total Shadowlings taken out: 12 + 10 = 22 Recoveries left: 1 The swarms became thick with enemies up ahead. Otto was still running right toward them at full speed, or as fast as he could lugging Tenya with him. His weapon was light only to him, but it still made running with it somewhat cumbersome. Using Tenya's weight, and putting his recent upper body training to use, he used the momentum of his movement and threw Tenya into the swarms. Shrikes and wails, clouds of dissipating shadows flying into the air. Tenya emerged from the black abyss of enemies and returned to Otto's waiting grasp, still in a full out run.

Status Wave: 4 Attack Dmg: 3 Total Shadowlings taken out: 22 + 3 =25 Recoveries left: 1 An enemy jumped forward, but was quickly vanquished by a swing of Tenya. Another lashed out, but was killed by the spikier end of Tenya's form as she was swung back. An upward swing from the boomerang knocked a third into the air, and then hit much like a baseball into the distance.

Status Wave: 5 Attack Dmg: 16 Total Shadowlings taken out: 25 + 16 = 41 Recoveries left: 1 The end was near. Enemies knew this. They began to swarm and cluster, creating a dense wall that could not simply be run through. Otto was so close to finishing this he had no patience for an attempt to stop him. He skidded to a stop, swinging Tenya over his head until she was a blur of beige and glowing red. His stance took on a stronger form as he threw Tenya's spinning form at the condensed wall of shadows. Many burst upon contact, creating a void in the rif he'd created. He ran through, catching Tenya along the way and slashing at enemies that reached for him.

He'd done it.
He reached the end of the tunnel, took out forty one enemies, and needed no help to do it. Five waves of enemies and not a single fumble or misstep.
A swell of pride welled up for a moment, expressed with his more confident posture and smug smirk.
