The ghost was stalking the halls, tail wagging as he looked for the source of the delicious smell of raw meat. What he found as he turned the corner in the into the dorm commons, was a gift from the local unliving alliance. Fresh meat. Perking up and grinning ear to ear, Frost made his way over ignoring the other foods, (notably, the vegetables and most things cooked), as he piled up a plate with the raw slabs of muscle and flesh.
The commons thus far had only a few students in it, also drawn to the variety of scents no doubt. Red eyes scanned the room, head tilting as everyone began to mingle. As more people arrived, Frost minded his own business, at least until he noticed a ghost boil he'd never seen before. Walking up, still in near nirvana over the food, the white wolfos smiled and asked, "New to Amityville?"

The smell of food hadn't attracted Gabby. He was there for no other reason than to people watch. He had a book, risen up to cover his face, but his eyes just barely peered over the edge. He had a sandwich in his hands - cooked food settled with him better, it was easier to digest into Fear, in his ghostly stomach. But he'd hardly touched it, choosing instead to just watch the students who came and went, and track their progress. He never spoke, never reached out or said hello, and he made sure his presence was hardly noticed. That is, until the boil with impeccable taste in clothes wandered over to talk to him. Gabby choose this moment to take a bite of his sandwich, chewing it slowly and moving it from the left side of his mouth, to the right, until finally swallowing. Only then, did he answer - a flat sounding response. "Yeah."

Well, that was certainly a straight to the point answer. Bowing slightly, Frost was mindful not to spill the food on his plate. "I am Frost in the Storm. I hope I am not disturbing you too much over your novel." He didn't know if it was a novel the boil was reading or a hidden magazine. He'd seen a few students do that in order to look like they were studying. "I've never run across a ghost dragon before is all. Are your kind from around here, or are you rather distant?" frost smiled and just waited for an answer. He'd at least try to get some conversation.

Frost was polite, and at least his voice wasn't annoying. But the fact that he tried to continue the conversation set Gabby's teeth on edge, and he put his book down to attempt to return the politeness. Somehow. "I'm from up in the mountains." Gabby flickered a hand up in the air. "Where it's colder. Like hell would I live here permanently." Gabby put his hand in his hair, and shook it. "It's so dry in here, isn't it?" He looked at the book in his lap, and then flicked it over his shoulder. He had no idea what he'd been reading, anyway - for all he knew it'd been upside down. "Your name's Frost, you said?" Gabby perked, genuinely interested for once. "in the Storm. That's a real long name, were you born in a storm or something?"

A small nod of his head, the ghost hound took a small bite of the meat from his plate, eating it as Gabby talked. "The cold climes are often the most suitable for our race." And the undead provided it wasn't too cold. Shehk had talked of freezing limbs after all. "It's a cold dry though. Better than a hot one... Which can happen if the AC gets broken in the summer." He gave a small shrug, looking at one of the vents. "I would prefer not to have my room covered in snowmelt. Would run a great number of my papers." And books and food, and keepsakes. ...he should probably invest in shelves actually. The book was abandoned and Frost tilted his head. It mustn't have been a good book. "Indeed, Frost in the Storm, born when a snow storm was outside." A tiny smile. "My people have unique naming conventions. What about you? What is your name?"

The idea of the AC breaking during the summer made Gabby's stomach churn with disgust. He would spend his summers up in the mountains. Just in case. "Gabriel." He answered, shortly. After a pause, and spending a minute too long thinking about what it meant to have 'people' to call your own, Gabriel added - "I named myself." He must have. He'd never had anyone else to name him, after all. "I don't know what it means." He shrugged. "I just know that was my name."

"Gabriel." Frost tested the name on his tongue. It wasn't a bad name. Just a bit odd. Mostly for the fact he didn't know what it meant and that the boil had chosen it for himself. Why chose a name you didn't know? Then again, he was named for natural events he wasn't much one to talk. "You say your name is Gabriel, that you named yourself a name you do not know... yet it was your name." Frost tilted his head. "Did you change it then?" He ate another strip of meat. He liked his name. Why change it? Aside from being a criminal at least.

Gabby turned his head slowly, his brows furrowing in confusion. After a beat of silence, his head slowly shook. "I just.. like.. don't know how to answer that. I mean, I can't be sure, of course - if my name really was Gabriel when I died. But I feel sure, you know? Otherwise, where the hell would that name have come from? I hadn't heard it in the few seconds between when I first woke back up and when I realized it was my name. It just.." He scratched his head. "It just was." Frost was making him second guess his own confidence in his name. "I don't remember anything about who I was before I died. Except that one word was there when I woke up. I just assumed.." Gabby slumped into his chair, visibly disturbed.

"Hmm." Sitting next to Gabriel, Frost was silent for a short while before he sighed. "I am sorry, I did not wish to draw up that which discomforts you. I don't know of what it means to be alive... or to live then die." Shoulders slumped as the ghost tried to sympathize. He was a bit out of his element. "It is a good name though. Could look at it this way, you are not named for natural events? Some in my clan find it stifling that they cannot have 'common' names. Like Azure, or, Kohaku. But, they tend to be young. Very young." A small snort. "Pups."

Gabby waved his hand non-committally, and shook his head. "No, no. It's fine. I can't be too upset about something that I don't really remember. A name is just.. a name. No big deal." He brushed it off as quickly as possible, "If it ever bothered me that much, I'll just go make a new name up. Like uh, well. Not Frost. No stealing your name, don't worry." He chuckled quietly, almost embarrassed, but it died off almost as quickly as it came.

The ghost chuckled at that, "could name yourself White Dragon. just say it in another language. No one would be the wise.. at least I doubt they would be." Meanings were complex things. Small talk for a short while, Frost smiled, trying his best to be open, casual. "..... You are not one for large social gatherings I take it? As is-" Frost motioned to the not such a party social. "It's rather.. dull. And crowded."

"I hate large social stuff." Gabby emphasized heavily. "I'm much more comfortable alone." She considered the option of changing his name, for a moment, and the idea Frost had offered. "White Dragon." That wouldn't work but.. "Dragon. Dragon would be an excellent name, wouldn't it? I'm going to keep that in mind, if I ever grow sour of Gabriel, one day. I don't think it's likely, but if it is... Dragon." He nodded his head appreciatively. "It has a nice sound to it." And it was, perhaps, just a little obnoxious to name himself after his entire species. That was why he liked it.

Dragon would be an odd name Frost thought. Because what if there were dragons all in one room but only one Dragon? It would get complicated. "Well for the sake of everyone, let us hope Gabriel stays then. Dragon in a room full of dragons- would be rather awkward. At least white Dragon people know who, if just a small hint." Finished with his plate Frost let out a low hum. "Time to retire you think? I got my free food, met someone interesting. I think that is enough for my social interaction quota for the day."

Confusion. Gabby didn't think about that.. he just liked the idea of being the dragon. Even in a room of dragons. "I.. guess." He mumbled. "Yeah. Good thing I like Gabriel." He'd keep his name, after all. He held his hand out, awkwardly, not quite sure of how appropriate it was. "You've filled my social quota for the week. Thank you, Frost." One side of his lips quirked slightly. "It was nice to meet you."

Hand offered, hand taken. Frost was a good dog, he knew when to shake. "It was a pleasure Gabriel. I'll see you around perhaps."
Frost smiled, not missing the tiny twitch of lips. Hey, something was better than nothing.
