It was nice out this evening... cool but not cold. Quiet... all the kids were inside by now, having dinner or doing homework. That was where Orah really should have been, but it was just so nice here at the park that she was reluctant to leave and walked the last block home to the flower shop her family lived above.
The chains of the swing creaked as the teenager swung back and forth lazily, her brown boots pumping up into the air as she reached her highest point forward. The lowering sun caught her hair, her dress, flashing from the chains of the swing. A brown bag of groceries sat waiting by one of the supports of the swings, forgotten for the moment while Orah took a moment to herself before going home to make dinner.
The last thing she was expecting right now was the shadow hiding in the bushes, watching her with glowing blue eyes, waiting for something, some signal...

Poseidon wasn't exactly sure how he got into his current predicament. It wasn't like being chased by a hyperactive dog through the park was very high on his list of things to do. All he had done was attempt to patrol, to make the city a safer place, and this was how he was rewarded. Running for his life while being some terrier mutt yapped and chased after him. Well, alright, his life wasn't really in danger. If it came down to it he could transform into his much bigger human looking form and completely avoid the annoyance of the dog, but that would send out an energy signature so strong he was sure he'd have a much bigger annoyance on his hands.
So, instead he ran, the gold that adorned his little cat body glinting as he streaked through fading sunlight and shadow. For a moment he contemplated climbing up a tree, but before he could make a firm decision one way or the other he broke the tree line and the opportunity was lost. Luckily another one presented itself. Without hesitating the cat ran straight for the swings and leapt, his body making a graceful arc through the air to land on the lap of an unsuspecting teenage girl. Hopefully she liked cats.
The dog that had been chasing the Guardian Cat stopped short at the swings, and suddenly became nervous, hackles bared as it began to back away. Anyone watching would think it was an overreaction, the teenager wasn't all that intimidating, but then it was hard to see the monster hiding in the shadows. Unfortunately for both the teenage girl and Poseidon the cat was too busy recovering his wind to pick up on the youma's energy signature and possibly give them some warning to an attack.

"Hey!"
Orah dug her heels into the dirt as a sudden silver form streaked across the playground and up her body like she was some sort of climbing pole, clinging to her shoulders.
"Go away!" The girl scolded the little dog, her hands up to help the cat balance on his perch (and hopefully not shred her shoulders in the process). "Bad dog! Leave the cat alone!" Straightening up, she stepped away from the swing, frowning when the dog back away, then turned and ran. She didn't usually have that affect on animals... and it certainly wasn't the cat, he wasn't even puffed up and hissing... Reaching up, she attempted to entice the large, fluffy cat from her shoulders and down into her arms now that the 'danger' had passed.
"Here you go, Kitty... come on down, the mean doggie is gone..." She crooned, hoping to soothe the poor creature. Distracted by her new companion, it wasn't until she heard a snapping and cracking in the brush and a low, menacing growl that she realized the reason for the dogs sudden desire to be anywhere but here... Whirling, she stared wide eyed at the large, dark form that had risen up behind her, clutching the cat desperately in her arms as she stumbled backwards.
"Oh, god... not again." She whimpered.
