Calling Bazzite had seemed like a good idea at the time of doing it, though now as Marybeth sat in the burger joint that the two had gone to once before, she was truly second guessing herself. Was this just a normal meeting? Was it something more than that? He wouldn’t think it was a date or anything, right?
Perhaps the worst thing was that she was sort of thinking it as a date of sorts. Maybe at least a little. It wasn’t that she wanted it to be any kind of a date like thing, but she had to admit, her pool of friends to go eat burgers with was small, and shrinking due to her lack of enthusiasm lately. Besides, all of the pretty girls of the city seemed to be either straight or already with someone. There just wasn’t enough people to choose from lately.
She drew in a long sip of her soda and sighed, glancing out of the window, waiting for Bazzite to get there. Or Jonathan, whatever his name was in the non fighting world. Though, to her, he would always just be Bazzi. Good old Bazzi, friends forever or something like that.
Maybe she should just get up and leave now while she had the chance. She didn’t really want to make things awkward.

Johnny didn't mean to be running late but that last load of laundry was yodeling his name. He was out the door in an explosion of Bounce and ninja hoodies. Since the Jolly Burger had two entrances, Johnny managed to sneak in the one behind Marybeth (Mesolite, whom he'd known a little bit better, admittedly). In a very Western cartoon from the 60's fashion, he crept up behind her, motioning for anyone looking to stay quiet with a finger to his lips. Deftly did he stop behind the pinkette and he leaned to her right side. "Helllooooooo~" he trilled with a great smile. "Sorry I'm late! I didn't mean to get so caught up in laundry. You won't believe how many loads three people can make. WHEW. And don't even get me started on separating colors." Johnny saw she had a soda and shrank visibly. "Aww man Marybeth, sorry to keep you waiting this long. You've already eaten!" Sad face.

Marybeth had not been expecting a sneak attack. She hadn’t been expecting anything to be honest, so when she got a loud hello right by her ear she did the only thing that was logical. She lashed out and punched whoever it was with all her might, all while jumping a foot into the air.
After a moment however, she yelped. “Baz-I mean Johnathan! I’m sorry! I haven’t eaten, I was just thirsty and needed a drink, so I got one but…”
Well crap. This was one fantastic way to start out the evening. Punch your friend in the face. Maybe the Jolly Burger would have a coupon for such a thing. Often times places had things for stupid occasions like this, after all.
“I’m still really hungry…but I waited for you and…Did I make you bleed? I didn’t mean t punch you…you just scared me okay…” She was so stupid, it wasn’t even remotely funny.

"PFFF---" Johnny hadn't been expecting a punch to the face. He moved slightly but Marybeth still managed to smack him pretty good in the forehead. The boy slapped both hands over the offending and painful spot and winced. "Nah nah, I'm okay. Sorry for uh... sneakin' up on you. Didn't mean to scare ya that bad. Man," Another wince and Johnny removed his hands to inspect them for blood or brain matter. "You've got like a Falcon Punch in those hands a' yours." Meanwhile, the Jolly Burger staff were wondering if this was just a case of Weird Teens Being Weird or if they needed to call the police for assault charges. The two teens didn't seem mad at each other but... Two employees exchanges glances that said, What is it with our burger joint and attracting weird people these days? We don't get paid enough for this crap.Since Marybeth hadn't eaten, Johnny's day was brightened. "Well then, let's get something! I'm starvin' too. I ran all the way over here and I can prob'bly eat like three Jumbo Jolly Burgers!" He offered her his hand to help her up out of the booth.

Marybeth cleared her throat and felt her face going very red indeed. “Well…sorry my Falcon Punch met with your face…I really am. And…and I’m hungry too. Maybe not hungry enough for three Jumbo Jolly Burgers, but two might do it, maybe.”
She walked up to the counter with him, and glanced over the menu. “I’m not gonna lie, it’s strange seeing you like this. If we hadn’t met up before, I really wouldn’t have known you, Things look so different in and out of uh…well. Costume, I guess you could call it. That’s a good phrase, isn’t it? I don’t know.”
The pinkette ordered two of the Jumbo Jolly Burgers, and a small Jolly Fry, then stepped aside, placing her hands behind her head as she waited for her order to be filled. “How have things been with you anyway…any changes in your life? I’ve missed you. I feel like I’ve been so out of the loop lately. I don’t know. I was hoping to get back into…well. Everything, I guess.”

Johnny ordered himself a number four for starters (a Jumbo Baconation Jolly Burger and fries) and a large drink and turned back to Marybeth while waiting for the food to be prepared. "We all look different out of uniform, I think. But hey, you're still cute!" he said with a smile, rubbing the back of his neck as a slight blush crept across his face. It mimicked Marybeth's hair. "Things are pretty different but... kinda still the same, I guess. It kinda makes sense when you see somebody in an' outta uniform... like you had known all along but you didn't know you knew?" The boy then realized he confused himself and shook his head. "Anyway, what's happened to me lately? Um..." Johnny was never one to hide his emotions and wasn't sure anymore that he was even capable of such a thing. The boy looked forlorn, sullen. Like he'd been through hell and back for a few moments, various saddening emotions flashing across his face. "I uh... don't really wanna talk about it, if you don't mind, Marybeth." Clearing his throat, Johnny stuffed his hands into his pockets. "But anyway," he continued, brightening as if the previous admission never happened. "How've you been? Busy with school and stuff? School gets to be so time consumin' and... useless sometimes, I think. Sometimes when I'm in class, all I can think about is doin' other things!"
