Makoto hated males.

That being said, she was more than on edge being in the rogue lands. It was a vast area full of the unknown, and anything could be lurking in the shrubs waiting for her. It was a good thing she'd sharpened her claws before leaving.

As much as she hated them, however, she needed a male. After all, there really was only one way to boost numbers, and she couldn't do it alone. Maybe she could just stay out here for a while, return and say that it hadn't worked out...? Makoto sighed. No, that wouldn't work. She needed to get over her fear.

The large lioness flopped down onto the dirt to plot her next move.

Dysi wandered contently, though he felt restless enough to keep his pace rather brisk. His grumpy partner in crime was off somewhere, so he had the day to himself - and that was just boring.

The flower crown perched happily upon his head gave away his earlier activities, but after making himself a crown, two bracelets and some flower chains around his tail, he had grown bored of that as well.

Dysi was, if nothing else, a very social creature, and so he was off on an adventure to find someone to talk to. Anyone. Seriously, even a vulture would do. Surely he wasn't the only creature around...

Makoto almost passed him up entirely, mistaking him for a female.

She'd seen the leopard from her higher vantage point, but the flowers had dissuaded her from enticing a conversation. There wasn't much point in talking to a leopardess; it would just be awkward and defeat the purpose of her mission.

Then she got closer.

Oh Gods, it's a male. Seriously? SERIOUSLY? What kind of male walked around bedecked in that many flowers? Or any flowers? She stopped, gave him an odd look, and pondered. Should she....?

It didn't take Dysi long to spot the black and pink lioness, his eyes lighting up in delight. Yes! Another soul! He didn't seem to take in her less than appreciative or friendly demeanour, or the odd look she appeared to be sending him, instead he changed his course and headed straight for the feline.

The fact it was a lady was just pure luck - and Dysi was always a fan of luck...

"Hello there, fair lady!" he called out cheerfully. "How are you this lovely day?"

Every last follicle of fur on her neck stood on end. He was being awfully chipper for someone so close to such an elite warrior such as herself. Was he blind? Couldn't he see how much bigger she was- Oh Gods, he was getting closer.

Fair lady? Oh, now she knew he had to be blind. "Fine, I guess, " she grumbled. Her voice was far from feminine; it was far too gravelly for that. "What's that thing doing on your head?" She motioned to the flower crown.

Dysi blinked at the less than friendly response, but continued to smile brightly. Nothing like perseverance to make some new friends! Perhaps she was just jealous of his flower crown.

"My flower crown?" He clarified, somewhat unnecessarily. "I was feeling somewhat nostalgic, and decided to create a few of them in remembrance of my daughters." He flicked his tail, the flowers on his tail staying firmly in place.

"My daughters used to love the flower crowns," he said cheerfully, smiling brightly and fondly as he thought of his little girls - who were all adults now but would always be his 'little girls'. He didn't realise how much he missed them until he was left on his own, in silence.

He missed the noise of having cubs.

"My daughters made those when they were younger, but I didn't expect to see a male wearing one." She curled up his nose, pointedly glaring at the offending item. "Don't your kind usually wear skulls, bones, armor; things of that nature?" After all, males were brutes, so why would he wear flowers? Maybe they were poisonous. But if that were true, wouldn't he be poisoned?

Ah, there it was. Proof that he'd spawned before, which was always reassurance, when trying to find a donor. ....right? "How many daughters do you have? Are they strong? Healthy? No defects?"

PostPosted: Tue Feb 12, 2013 2:02 pm

He perked up at the comment of her having daughters. Yes! Another parent! Perhaps they could trade parenting tips? He grinned, but looked confused at her comment. "Well, no...I know a few who might, but most people don't well skulls or armor or anything - they are all a bit...cruel looking..." he shuddered. He didn't like scary things, though his current partner Maleficar had a certain scary air about her, she was absolutely harmless, so she didn't count.

He was happy to talk about his daughters, not caring to ask the obvious question of 'why are you interested'? "I have 14 daughters, all healthy and strong!" He chuckled, amused. "No defects! In fact, I think I have...6 grandcubs now?" He said, contemplatively. He knew one of his daughters birthed three cubs in the pride of shrines and another had 6 in the harem pride, so there was around 6 girls in all that. "What about you?" He asked her, smiling.

"Oh...huh." That was unfortunate. How could her information have been wrong? She'd heard from a few females in the pride that some of the males that had attacked wore strange items made of bones, but hadn't thought to question them. Maybe it was just a personal thing?

Makoto's mouth went as dry as the desert. "Fourteen?" She squeaked. She'd barely managed to raise two, let alone fourteen. How did he do it? "That's impressive. You seem to be really proud of them, and that's good. It's as a parent should feel." Now she was able to loosen up. As awkward as this all was, knowing that she'd hit jackpot made it all a little easier. After all, this wasn't her first litter, so getting to the formalities shouldn't be difficult. "I have two daughters, both young, but grown. They're both much too young to think about cubs of their own....but I'm not." And now, she smiled, but it was the obvious grin of a lioness who had found her prey. "Actually, I'm looking to expand my family."

Dysi grinned at her incredulous attitude. "I am very proud of them, they are...my world," he admitted, honestly. Dysi lived for his children - he had no love of his life anymore, not after his love had betrayed him. Oh, he loved who he met, and he cared for them as best he could, but his heart was broken beyond the 'until my dying breath' kind of love. He would love only his cubs until he died, everyone else was just fleeting loves, passing him by as he travelled his life.

He looked a bit surprised at her comment, her look rather...predatory...Ohhhh! He understood her attitude easily. Glancing her over, he had to admit she was a beautiful lioness - a lot larger than he was but then again, it was not hard to be larger than him, as he was a rather petite leopard.

"How strange but fortunate a coincidence," Dysi remarked happily. "I am also looking to expand my family once again."

His children were his world? That was encouraging, and slightly depressing. It made her realize that she couldn't say the same. She lived for her pride; for her position, the royal family, and everything else besides her offspring. They were Shosanda's job. The blind leopon watched over them with care; care Makoto could never give. Not that she didn't love them, oh no! She just wasn't the motherly type. She was the "train-em-up" type.

"Well, then, it seems like we may be able to do business." Makoto grinned uneasily, a little quirk in her smile. She needed help; serious help. The kind that would do this for her. "So long as you play by the rules, I'm sure that I can be of service to you."

PostPosted: Thu Feb 14, 2013 1:39 pm

"Play by the rules?" Dysi repeated, rather curious, as to what 'rules' she was talking about, but the look in her eyes spoke of a rather desperate need - not a want, not a desire, but a need. Why were these cubs so important to her? Why did she need a family so much?

He wasn't one to judge - he missed having a family, having young cubs, but he only wanted them, but this female...

"I'm pretty good at playing by the rules." He didn't know what they were but he wanted to help the female before him, and maybe get a cub or two of his own to fuss over.

"Good. They're rather simple, so it shouldn't be an issue." She moved a little closer to him; not so much because of her desire, but because she needed to prove to herself that she could do this. He was a good male, or as good as she was going to find, so what was the problem?

"If we so happen to succeed, the females will go with me." She stated bluntly, giving him a look that said 'you question this, and you're gone!'. "The males will go with you." Makoto took a deep breath, and exhaled to steady her nerves. "Do we still have an accord?"

Dysi held his ground, not afraid of the large lioness, because, well, if she had wanted to kill him, she wouldn't have discussed a fling. Simple. Also, Dysi was fast, and small, he could escape most situations without too much injury.

He tilted his head, listening to her words curiously. He was surprised at her demands, before he remembered the pride of females...ah, perhaps she was one of them? He couldn't help but shudder at the idea of taking his sons with him, but he paused. Maleficar would like them. She could train them, and fuss over them, and he could have nothing to do with them still...Simple.

"We have a deal," Dysi said, in more simple English as he looked at the female. "I simply request that you take care of any daughters who are born to you. I may willingly let them go to you, and I may never ask to see them again, but if I hear they have been mistreated..." He was not a large leopard, but his eyes promised hurt for anyone who mistreated a daughter of his.

Makoto laughed.

It was a sharp, bark of a laugh, but a true chuckle never the less. "As if I would let any harm come to my daughters. They will be raised as prized treasures, so you don't have to worry." She wished she could say the same of the sons born to her pride, but then, did she really want to know what happened to them? They weren't important, but each deserved life. This leopard...he'd do what he thought was best, that much she was sure of.

"Come, then. I've got a temporary den set up just beyond those trees." As she stalked off, looking over her shoulder once to make sure he was following, Makoto's sense of nervousness began to kick back in. This was it; the moment of truth!

Time to go big, or go home.

With that attitude now firmly planted in her mind, she was able to give an almost sultry look at the leopard. This wasn't going to be so bad, right? It would give her daughters, daughters she could be proud of.

A whole new generation of Amazons would come from her sacrifice. That she could be truly proud of.
