Seem to go back to my roots in media arts whenever I need to deal with anything. So here's what I made for Aida. Comments are always appreciated after working on a piece like this....

On another note. I'm doing histology on Aida's tumor. So I'll be able to see if it actually was benign or not.

GAH!! That was amazing, it had me cracking up, and bawling, often at the same time!!! She was an amazing rat, who lived an awesome life, one of the most spoiled, pampered rats I know smile Also, SQUEE at baby blaze!

*sniffles* Awww ... That is a very good tribute to Aida. I love the interaction between Cowboy and Aida. xd Good job on the video. 3nodding

Thaankkss. Also I have some news regarding Aida...I'm going to be collecting the tumor that was removed (typically vet clinics hold onto masses for about 3 months in case clients want to send them out for histology) I'm bringing it to school to do my histology project on. So... basically I will get to find out wether or not it was cancerous. And...provided I do a decent enough job preparing a slide. It gets sent out to a real histologist for grading purposes. So a professional will be able to confirm my findings.

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. I start working on it either Thursday or next Tuesday. Should have the results in 2 months from now. I'm kind of anxious. I know it's rare but I feel like it might have been cancerous. Because she had a lot of complications. The diarrhea started not long after so I wonder if it spread to her intestines. Anyway. It will certainly make this class more interesting. I might do my pathology project on rodent mammary tumors just to make it a bit easier to be looking up one disease.

Update on the histology. May not want to look if you're squeemish..

picked up the mass yesterday. Got a crazed look from a client when I told the receptionist I was picking up a mass.

Ok, here it is. Bout half the length of my finger. So almost 2inches.

After taking these shots, I used a scalpel blade and cut 1/4 into sections and then left it in the safe fix. It gets dehydrated on Tuesday. Then I embed it in wax, freeze it, sometimes if I'm lucky that's done at the beginning of class and I can cut it the same day. We use a special machine to cut the embeded tissues all of 5 micro meters. Then we float the strip of wax in water and pick it up with a microscope slide. Then the staining takes almost 2hrs.... So yea, it's a long a** process. Hopefully I will be able to look at it under the microscope next week. If it's nice enough I'll send it to the pathologist to confirm whatever I think I see. xd

wow, it LOOKS cancerous, the black color I mean, and honestly I was thinking it could be since it was SOOOO fast, just the progressive stages they went by so fast, faster than any rat I have had with a tumor, I want to know the results!
