It'd been days now since he'd found out that he'd lost the love of his life, but still Izefiah couldn't get over it. It had been his own fault, completely and entirely his own fault but still, it broke his heart. He'd been so certain that when he told Neela of his feelings she would return them and they would be happy forever. It'd been so naive of him, so stupid. He was a daft idiot. He was a freak, hideous. No one would ever love him. His own father barely did.

The worse thing was that Zachery was a nice guy. A nice, normal wholesome guy. He treated Neela well and he made her happy. Iz felt terrible for even thinking it, but if Zach had been an a**, then maybe he could've convinced Neela to leave him and run away with him. He couldn't do that to someone like Zach though.

And really, in the long run of it, he couldn't even blame Neela. Not only was Zach a good guy, he was handsome. Handsome and perfectly normal. He didn't have weird mutations, branch-like wings with spider webs, mutations that were not passed down from his parents. No, Zach was perfectly normal and not a freak and Neela loved him. She didn't love Iz. Not anymore. He was far too late.

He knew he shouldn't wallow, but it was so hard not to. He was furious with his father for convincing him Neela wasn't good enough for him, and he was furious with himself for letting himself believe it. He'd lost everything now. If Neela didn't love him, who ever would?

Completely self-absorbed, Iz stood by the river, crushing snow and ice underfoot, unaware that he might not be alone and that there just might be someone else nearby.

Though Acacia had finally found his way home, he found the adventure that pumped through his blood was too strong. He had to go out and find different things. He had to be sure that he knew what was going on, and learn of everything in the world. He enjoyed venturing around, and figuring everything out. So, he had told his family that, now that he knew where his family was located he could return easily! The stallion smiled toward his family, nodding his head quietly, before he turned and started out. He trotted easily, tail flicking as he moved. He enjoyed wandering around; it was like an adventure that always seemed new. Though last time he had done some adventuring, he hadn’t realized that he was only a few miles away from home.

Today he was venturing farther. The bone winged stallion easily moved around the area. He got lost in himself, easily able to move between trees and brush. He stopped for a moment, staring up toward the trees for a second, before he reared up and nipped at a few of the leaves. It took him a second, but he thought he heard something. He lowered himself back down, head tilting to the side, before he moved forward and peered between some trees, eyes flickering to stare at a figure ahead of him. Someone new? Acacia blinked, his tail flicking lightly. He paused to stare for several moments, taking in the sight of the stallion. He was taller than Acacia was, but that was normal. His hide was a dark color with white accents. And his mane and tell were a bold blue.

But the most noticeable feature was one that Acacia shared with him. The bone wings, with spider web attaching them together. Acacia blinked, his ears perking up curiously. He took another look, smiling lightly toward the stallion ( even though he was at his back ). He moved forward and carefully took his steps, not wanting to accidently startle him. He tilted his head to the side, before moving to the side, and let a soft smile shift onto his features. He inclined his head lightly toward the stallion, whispering a small hello, before dropping his head down to lap at some of the water in the stream. He let his wings flutter slightly, before folding a bit. It made a small creak, before they moved back into their normal position, due to the stiffness of the bone. He lifted his head again, before looking back over toward the stallion, his tail giving another gentle flick, his eyes locked on the dark colored stallion. “Are you all right?” He asked, eyes lingering for a moment. Acacia generally had a good idea at picking up on when people were upset. “You look… troubled.” He said, voice softening some.

User ImageIzefiah started when he heard a voice coming seemingly from no where. He whirled his head around and found another horse there, right beside him. He hadn't heard him coming at all. Iz was stunned that he'd managed to get so close and he panicked for a moment. What if it'd been a kalona? He would be dead right now. He wouldn't have stood a chance.

Opening his mouth to say something, Iz just gaped at him for a bit. "I--I..." he trailed off, completely forgetting what he'd meant to say once the other stallion's appearance struck him. He was bright fuchsia, with brilliant green hair and glittering cloven hooves, but that wasn't what he was staring at. This other stallion...he had wings. He had wings with webbing much like his own. The webbing spanned spines that seemed to be made of bone, and they creaked in the breeze. He couldn't believe his eyes. Never had he seen another horse that looked like him.

"Your wings!" he cried out, rather dumbly. "They're bone!"

Acacia dipped his head back down, letting himself lap at the water lightly. His ears swiveled some, and though he closed his eyes, he was relaxed. Honestly, the mutant flutter wasn't scared of much. It wasn't that he hadn't heard stories of Kalona and Skinwalkers; but he found that they generally didn't come near this area. The Harpy Flock was too close, and they didn't toy with that batch. He lifted his head slowly, letting his eyes drift over toward the other stallion, staring at him in confusion. He? He didn't finish his sentence. Tilting his head, Acacia half turned his body so he was facing the other stallion, his eyes locked, eyes lingering for several seconds before he let out a soft laugh, and nodding his head easily. "Yes, I know. My mother and father were, as some say, cursed by a haunted moon. I was given these wings by the dark spirits... but I can't say I complain. In fact, I quite enjoy them."

Acacia wasn't lying. Though he was scared at first, due to being put into quarantine by the Harpies, he found that his wings made him an interesting creature. Far better than some of the plain ones that lingered. He liked having a subject about him that was startling and new. Glancing at his wings, he smiled toward them, letting them shift once more, before he turned his head back to the stallion, staring at him with bright eyes. "Aren't yours the same, kind of? Spines with web." He nodded lightly, letting a soft, care-free laugh escape him. "I am shocked you find it so surprising!" Acacia assumed that since the stallion had them as well, he was used to them. But perhaps he was like Acacia. Born of the twisting of dark spirits. Who knew?

Iz listened to the explanation for the other stallion's wings, quite interested in the story. Perhaps... Perhaps that's what happened to him and his sisters. His father would be interested to hear that. All these years and he had blamed his mother, saying that it had to have been her terrible blood that had cause these mutations. After all, it certainly couldn't have been Auster's. Iz could tell now though, that his father was secretly worried that it was his blood that had caused it. It would be a relief to know it was out of their control.

Not that Iz was going to tell him now though. He didn't want to lessen his father's guilt at this moment. Auster needed to suffer, at least for a little while.

The other stallion was talking about him now, and Iz shook his head to clear it and focus his attention. It didn't matter about dark spirits anymore, he was already cursed. "Ah--yes, they are similar, I guess." He glanced back to look at his own branch wings with a sigh. "I've never met anyone else that had wings like this. That's why I was surprised."

The flutter shifted lightly, his back poised. The small flutter wings shifted along his back, creaking again from the motion. A small smile shifted onto Acacia's features, before he locked his gaze on the darker stallion. He seemed so...distant. The red stallion blinked, his eyes locked for several moments, before he let a soft smile shift onto his features. He had to ensure that this stallion was in a good mood! After all, what good would a stallion that was upset would do no good in the world! Acacia let his wings shift again, before he tilted his head, curious. But if he had parents, then one of them had to have wings, right?

... Right?

Now that he thought about it, Acacia's mother and father didn't have bone or spider wings on their person. He frowned for a moment, before shaking his head, and let his mind once more focus. "Really? Well I'm glad we could meet then! Everyone should meet someone with similarities, right? It allows you to feel as though you're not alone." Acacia said, his voice soft. He shifted his tail lightly, flicking it, before letting his ears flick curiously. He smiled, and lowered his head to lap quietly at the water again, eyes half open, before lifting his head, a bit of his fur wet from the river water. Well he was honestly very glad he could be here and have met this lovely stallion. Because as he had said, everyone deserved to meet someone that resembled them in some way. Be it looks or personality, everyone needed to know that they weren't alone, and that they could have a friend in the world to stand by them.
