Nathaniel sat outside is mountain watching the pokemon that lived at the bottom of the mountain. He dare not approach them as they were not his ideal place to be. He was used to the cold air that came with snow and ice and he loved it so much. Though he would only venture down, if it was necessary. He adjusted his santa hat slightly and continued to watch the inhabitants in the warmer areas. He glanced around he surrounding of his home, there weren't many who would venture up the mountain, it was one of those isolated places that a handful could handle.

He would have liked to have some friends despite his preference i weather, and not many found it necessary to trek up a mountain for leisure, he blew out a cold breath and watched in silence, hopefully one of these days he would make some friends, that was really all his focus at the current time.

Note: Switch has not acquired her costume yet. She's just feathers and a leek. x3

Also, are the time of year and the location all right? If he lives on a different mountain, I can add in that she took a longer trip to along the mountain range.

Living at the foot of a mountain, one might simply take it for granted that it existed as a backdrop to life down below. But Switch the Farfetch'd did not like to take things for granted. It was not for practical reasons, simply that she was curious. She had many questions to ask the silent peak. It was not the same color as the world she could touch. It was bluish; even the trees were bluish higher up. Why was that? Why were the sides of the mountain grey in places? What was all that white stuff at the top that appeared to pour down the mountain very slowly when it rained at home? Were the slopes made of water? She pondered these things for a long while before she finally decided to find the answers to these questions for herself. She would have acted much sooner if not for her young age.

Finally, on a morning when the air was thick with mist and beginning to warm in the sun, she prepared herself for her journey. Her family knew she was going, but only for a day, and when the mist burned away to reveal a world glowing in the golden hues of late Spring, she set out toward the mountain.

Though she was fit as any other bird, this much flying tired out her wings and took many hours, many breaks. It gave her much time to contemplate the world around her while it slowly changed. As she rose in elevation with the slopes of the mountain she realized several things. The trees when far away had been cast in blue (and many times near nightfall they had seemed brownish, orangey, and even pinkish). Now as she approached, they revealed the same greens she knew in the trees of her home. She could not understand this phenomena but realized from it that things are not always as they appear. The white places were still far in the distance, but she felt the air grow colder, and the frosty breeze seemed to blow from those places. Normally the advancing day would heat up the air, except in winter, but here the flowers still bloomed despite the noticeable chill. The white became clearer and sparkly. She had never seen snow before but she still could not reach it.

During her latest break to rest her wings, she stopped to ponder her situation. This excursion had taken longer than expected. Though she wanted to discover the truth of that sparkly white sheen higher up on the mountain, she had not planned to take more than one day. If she did not return home soon, it would be dark long before she could reach it. So what should she do? Return home and come back another time, or should she continue on and try to find a place to stay later on?

Nathaniel being use to the cold weather and the sparkly sheens that the sun's rays created when it reflected off the snow, got up and stretched. He jumped to all four and went into his ice cavern home, and sat down looking around. Tapping his chin with a paw, he needed to add things to it so it felt more homey. He glanced around the ground of the cavern and wondered if he could break some and create a small pool, but he was pretty sure it wouldn't hold. So he shrugged it off and ventured out again and down the pathway of the mountain.

He decided to go exploring to see what he could find to make his ice cavern a little more homey then it was already. If he had skill he could carve out ice furniture, but he didn't so beyond that he would need to slowly progress through making the ice furniture that would make it look like a home to anyone who walked in. He hummed quietly as he padded down the wind of the mountain path. Should he ever encounter anyone on his travels he would need to invite them in.

Angelics-Destiny

For Switch, her choice became obvious. She was the sort to see things through. Her decision had come from a strong urge, and she knew that if she returned home now she would never be satisfied until she came back to the mountain. Better to find out now then to live in such a state.

When she was rested enough and the sun's angle had redoubled the afternoon's light, she set out again with strength of purpose in the beating of her wings.

Eventually the chill in the air became a constant companion: in the shade where the shadows took on a blue hue, the bite was just as cold, and the sun burned through the chill with a bite of its own. However, her feathers kept her mostly warm: they were, after all, suited for cold water. So she pressed on, taking note of these changes but never really slowed down by them.

The length of the shadows increased with the passing of the day. Nevertheless, a flash of white down below caught her eye. Here and gone, she was unsure of even its existence at first. Then she saw more of it, first in thin patches at the bases of trees, then in drifts. That mysterious white substance was finally within reach!

She was almost too excited to think clearly, her impulse being to land immediately to investigate. However, she managed to find a nearby clearing and landed on a jutting rock large enough to seem as a cliff to the diminutive pokémon. Adjusting her wings, she hopped around a bit to get her legs used to the cold ground. Then she hopped over to the nearest patch of snow, her ever-present leek raised overhead in triumph.

This patch of snow had endured extremes. During the day, the heat of the sun had caused the snow to slowly melt, despite the cool temperatures. But the night air had held it fast, whipping at it with merciless winds. Eventually the outer surface had hardened into a brittle layer of ice. Switch was fascinated by its shiny, crisp appearance, but when she poked it with a clawed toe realized with a puff of exploding snowflakes that the inside was powdery and light! She had never seen anything like this before!

Cackling to herself, she hopped herself a little spin, looking around for more of the wonderful stuff.

The mountain path was wounded around the shape of the mountain peak, he muttered to himself before following the pathway on all fours. Travelling on four legs seemed faster then on two, he adjusted his Santa hat which he had gotten use to wearing, but it wasn't necessary but it looked cute on him. He prowled down the path before stopping and seeing a flash of brown feathers, he tilted his head looking a little confused.

He decided to investigate this flash, he padded over to a close rock on the mountain path before hiding behind it and peering around the the edge, to investigate this curious Pokemon. He noticed the leek it held and tilted his head to the side. Before glancing over and approaching curious Pokemon with caution.

Oblivious of the cubchoo's apporach, Switch skipped excitedly over to another patch of snow and jumped onto it, feet-first, like a child might jump into a puddle of water. Snow poofed up and out in all directions, spraying her flapping wings and tickled the inside of her mouth while she laughed. And it was cold and wet, melting even as it burned her with its coldness.

Her cackles echoed all around her and it occurred to her that she should use a little more caution. Pausing in her antics, mouth still partly open, she glanced around, listened, waited. Nothing at first. Then, the soft crunching sound of bare paws on snow and gravel over stone. Her feathers fluffed up briefly with fear and she removed herself from the icy snow rather unceremoniously.

Finally catching sight of the cubchoo, she was surprised to find such a small pokémon. That was not to say that it might be anything less than dangerous, and she could not be sure as she had never seen a cubchoo before!

Scrambling to her feet and shaking herself off, she ventured a greeting.
"Hello?"

Nathaniel glanced curiously at the larger figure, he tilted his head in slight confusion as to why a farfetch'd would have a leek. He sat down on his bottom and peered at it curiously before piping up lightly "hello..." He answered back. He had never seen a farfetch'd on the mountain before.

He then glanced at the snow around her, it would seem she wanted to investigate the white powdered snow. He tilted his head the side "aren't you cold?" He asked her.As far as he knew not many land dwelling pokemon other then pokemon who were use to the cold ventured up the mountain for one of two reasons because it was necessary or because they looked for food sources.

Switch followed his look and realized he was looking at the leek she held. Subconsciously she rose it up before her at a vaguely defensive angle. When she realized what she was doing though, she lowered it a little.

His question surprised her. The cold snow certainly had a bite and she had felt exhilarated by it before. But now that she stood with her feet planted firmly on the ground, she realized that it was cold. Not just cool, but cold. The clawed tips of each toe and the bottoms of her feet all vaguely burned from it.
"Actually, I am a little, yes. My feathers keep me mostly warm, and I'm used to cold water, but this white stuff is different, whatever it is. Oh, by the way, my name's Switch," she added, finally remembering her manners.

Nathaniel blinked and padded closer not too close though thinking over what she could stand on. But nothing came to mind. He frowned lightly before piping up again "the white stuff you see around you is called snow..its like frozen water" he told her nodding his head.

"nice to meet you, Switch. My name is Nathaniel or Nate for short" he answered back, he still felt bad for pokemon who weren't use to the cold snow. He would need to find a way to accommodate them if he were to meet some more. Starting with Switch "I wish I had something for you to stand on, so your feet don't get too cold..but I don't have anything" he put in.

Switch fluffed up ever so slightly when he approached, but he never got too close for comfort. Perhaps he sensed her unease, an emotion that felt entirely strange when paired with the light and happy feeling playing in that fluffy white stuff had given her.

Snow? That stuff was called snow?
"Snow? Frozen water, huh?" she repeated, considering his explanation with a slow nod. If it was like frozen water, then it must be like ice. She had experienced ice, which usually lined the pond in the winter. She had only seen it a few times considering her age, but that cold feeling she remembered from ice was indeed similar to snow. The biggest difference though was how dry snow was!

"It's nice to meet you too, Nathaniel. Nate. I came to this mountain to learn about snow. I have always seen it from afar but it is only today that I can finally see and touch it." She spoke with a wide grin. The discomfort was more than worth what knowledge and memories she received in exchange. "You don't have to worry about my feet, they will be fine."

Nathaniel nodded his head "yup....its just a lot drier and it comes in shapes of snowflakes..and no two snowflakes are the same" he put in nodding his head once again, for a little bear he knew a lot about snow. Well you couldn't blame him, he pretty much lives with it his entire life.

"well, if that is the case...I have answers to your questions about snow" he told the other "not a whole lot..but enough to answer basic questions" he stated nodding his little head. "its really fun to play in, you can make snow pokemon, you can eat it and you can roll them up in balls and do whatever you want with them" he said and nodded his head "okay" he put in.

Switch nodded. "I've noticed how dry it is. It's hard to believe it's made of the same stuff as water. But flakes? I don't understand." She had never seen snow fall, and she had not looked closely enough to see what it was comprised of, so she had no real grasp of what he meant. Clearly Nate was in his element, so to speak, knowledgeable about the topic she had come to learn more about! She had been very fortunate to meet him!

Her eyes widened with awe and excitement as he described all the things one could do with snow. Could one really make snow into a ball? If it was water, why not try to eat it? Did it taste like wet, liquid water, or something else? When it had fallen onto her tongue earlier, had it even had a taste?
"What's a snow pokémon?" Some other type of pokémon? For that matter, what was Nate? He was the first of his kind she had ever met.

Nathaniel pondered over how to explain what he meant, explaining things wasn't his forte. He looked around and padded over to a patch of snow that had not footprints and laid down on his back moving his arms and legs up and down. After a few seconds he carefully retreated to the side.

He gestured to the figure on the ground "this is a snow pokemon, see if you wave your arms and legs up and down you form what looks like wings" he put in.

I'm trying to catch up on old roleplays. But since this is so old, go ahead and ignore it if you want. :3

Switch watched Nathaniel's reaction to her questions. He had gone silent, presumably in careful consideration, then wandered off. Where was he going? Cautiously, she followed him in order to watch. He paused before a patch of pristine snow and her eyes widened as he lay down. The snow crushed beneath him and he sunk. Look at that. The edges stay solidly upright!

His movements caught her eye again. He began to wave his arms and legs, vaguely reminding her of someone calling for help. Was he stuck? But he regained his footing a moment later and showed her his handiwork. The imprint he left behind looked rather strange, a little like a winged creature wearing a dress. She didn't really understand its meaning, but it looked fun, and perhaps rather cold.
"Was that fun? Maybe I should try."

She shuffled over to an untouched patch of snow beside his imprint. He had been on his back, but she would be unable to control her movements if she did the same. So she hopped into the snow on her belly, feet folded beneath her. She stretched out her neck and pressed her beak as deeply as she could and stretched out her wings on either side. With the feathers of her wings lighter than the cubchoo's arms, she had the feeling her efforts would leave less of an impression. When she jumped out of the snow again, she found an imprint that looked like a giant nose and mustache. "Oh. That's... not like yours," she quacked with laughter.
