intro!
PostPosted: Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:31 am

Name: I'na
Age: 22
Gender: male
Sexuality: heterosexual
Rank: Rider/ Apprentice Healercraft
Appearance: I'na is a tall, strong-shouldered man with a fine face and sharp features. He usually has a very impassive, or neutral expression, which makes him look a little intimidating. But his bright blue eyes an messy brown hair are very warm and inviting, combating the look of his expression every step of the way. He doesn't take a lot of time on making himself look presentable, but he doesn't really need to, either. He was blessed with being a good-looking man.

Lucky sod.
How many Turns old were they when they Impressed? 17

Personality: I'na is dedicated to his work. He heals dragons, and tends to their needs with every portion of his heart not already devoted to Orkath. He is a little like the nurse from school, somewhat cold and probably not interested in your personal life, but always willing to listen anyway, if someone felt the need to vent while they were being treated. He always treats each dragon like they are unique and special, sometimes to the irritation of his partner. But he doesn't mind a fit from Orkath, wanting the dragon to see the good in other beings as well. Sometimes it seems best to lead by action.

And I'na is not one to sit back when action is needed to be taken. Though he now heals dragons, his roots stemmed in healing people. So when he sees someone who may have injured him or her self on the job or just by being an idiot, he is the first to rush over and try to lend a hand. His skills in the area are basic, but that usually does the job well enough. When he is out matched by a wound, he can at least do what he can to keep the patient alive until better trained healers can help. Not that he has had a great many moments like that in his life. Normally, things are fairly calm. But there had been the hatching he had attended, which had brought out the old healer in him, even after he had started to enjoy healing dragons more than anything else.

Though he is good at what he does, and likes to make dragons feel special, he is not that good at talking to PEOPLE. He is usually in work mode, even when not doing his rider duties or healing, he is fairly cold and difficult to approach without it being very awkward. Much like the doctor you only visit once every couple of months, conversations with I'na came feel forced and even a bit faked. Still, he doesn't ignore people or try to upset them. Not intentionally anyway.

He is just easily distracted by work. Or thoughts of work.

Social situations can make him a little awkward. Not really one who makes friends or deal with people outside of work on a regular basis, when he is thrust into group situations, he can be the one standing off to the side like a wall flower. Only a couple people are pretty close to him, and they were fairly lucky to get through the walls around his heart. The rest? They get to experience a really awkward being who can't string together a complete sentence without either making no sense, or coming across as a little cold and uncaring, perhaps even a little sarcastic. It is a struggle for him to find a way to speak that people like, so he prefers not to say anything at all. For the most part, those around him seem to like things that way, too.

So he pours most of his affection on Orkath, who accepts it willingly and as though he had demanded it in the first place. I'na is aware that Orkath is a very self-important dragon, and dislikes upsetting him by keeping him from the things he wants for himself. However, he also wants Orkath to grow, and struggles to find a way to open doors for him when he can't seem to open up properly to people, himself. Somehow, though, it all seems much easier when talking in terms of dragons.

History: When still very young, I'na was left in the care of his aunt and uncle, though he was never told the reasons why. To this day, he doesn't know why his parents left him and he really doesn't care- he is happy with his life and feels his aunt and uncle are as good of guardians as anyone else would have been.

He grew up in a small hold near Fort, helping his family sustain their life and generally living a very peaceful existence. He never went wanting, though the small nature of his home made it difficult for him to make friends with others. He spent most of his time at home, or learning the healercraft with the local healers of the hold. They weren't the most experienced, but they had much to teach someone who knew nothing at all. As he grew, he never really made friends, but he fell in love with healing people. Hearing their stories as he worked seemed enough for him. Soon after he turned fourteen, a dragonrider came to the hold, his dragon wounded after some training had gone wrong. A healer who specialized in dragons tended to the massive beast, as I'na watched from the shadows like a lurker. From that moment, he wanted to be a dragon healer- it was amazing! Healing those massive beasts. Doing something for a creature that looked like it could do everything on its own.

He wanted to be a part of it.

Not long after he started his new specialization, when he was sixteen, he was found worthy of being a candidate from an unexpected search. Before he could comprehend what was going on, he was being taken to Fort for a whole new way of existing. It was something he hadn't thought possible. There were so many young people, and it made him really uncomfortable. For a while, he just felt like going back home because the whole thing had ended up being a massive mistake.

Then someone new popped into his life.

I'na and T'mar met when I'na first came to Fort at sixteen turns old. Though I'na was very shy and secluded, T'mar was happy to welcome him. He spent the first couple days visiting with I'na and helping him get adjusted, kindly telling him that everything was going to be alright. T'mar had been at the weyr for a while, and was a well-known, well-treated young lad. And he seemed happy to treat others with the same respect he had earned, even if they were knew. He was gentle and sweet, and made I'na feel like he was home, even away from his family. The two became very good friends, and T'mar was one of the only people I'na could open up to.

When the next hatching came, and it was I'na's very first time to stand, T'mar stood beside him, offering him comfort. It was an exciting experience for the both of them, where I'na impressed a self centered dragon named Orkath, and T'mar impressed an impulsive, brave bronze named Idath. Neither one had been expecting to impress at all, and impressing together was a delight to them both.

After the impression, I'na and T'mar learned how to live with their new partners, but continued to be friends to one another as well. T'mar sand songs for Orkath and was I'na's sole confidant, and I'na helped keep Idath healthy after his various mishaps through his own recklessness. Together, they got through their tough training and became riders for Fort, wanting to work together and good friends should.

Though I'na had a lot on his plate learning to deal with his dragon, he wanted to continue learning about healing as much as possible, specifically healing dragons. He didn't mind having a lot to do in a day- it kept him from being worried about meeting people and dealing with the beings around him.

Not long after they had officially become dragonriders, I'na and T'mar stumbled upon a small clutch hatching in a cliffside. T'mar impressed a cute little brown, while I'na ending up wooing two little firelizards of his own.

The two were not met with enthusiasm by Orkath, however, who said they looked more like food than anything worth keeping around. So, in jest, I'na named them Supper and Snack, which they seemed to actually enjoy. The two flits were pleased to be around I'na, and it only seemed to delight them more whenever Orkath got angry with them for it.

Dragon Name: Orkath
Dragon Image: Here

Dragon Personality: Orkath is an extremely vain creature, who believes his color makes him extremely special. This is probably a cover to mask concerns that he is a bit different from other dragons, and not quite as blue as they seem to be. He took the road of over confidence to hide self-doubt, and it developed rapidly. But his color complex isn't the only aspect of his personality. He is more than a high and mighty dragon who wants the world to worship him.

Not much more, but still.

When it comes to his rider, he does not look down on him, having decided from hatching that this boy was worthy of his unique color. As long as he does everything Orkath wants, why not keep him around? But he is loyal to his rider, and has as deep a bond with him as any other dragon would their rider. He gets just as protective if he hears ill being spoken of him as he does when he hears people talking about his coloration. When it comes to things that are HIS, he doesn't like them being DEMEANED. In his mind, everything he likes has to be the best around, and he is often snobbish to other dragons and riders. Huffy and self-centered, it is difficult for anyone other than his rider to get close to him, unless they're interested in kissing some major dragon a**.

Orkath takes great pride in his flying abilities as well, claiming he could probably fly a gold if he wanted to. This, of course, is just the boasting of a cocky dragon, but it's no lie that he can cut through the air with relative ease. He is quick, but not strong, nor one who can last long in the air. So much for flying with the golds.

Smugness aside, he is a smart dragon, which probably doesn't make him any easier to talk to. He knows how to work a conversation in his favor, and it's sometimes difficult to find fault with his logic. Even if one can, it's difficult to make HIM see it. Still, he can admit when he is wrong, or at least grumble and move onto the next conversation topic.

He loves himself and talks about himself a lot, but that doesn't mean he bad-mouths others. Sure, he'll say they aren't as lovely as he is, but he's not willing to go that extra step and hurt others to make himself feel better. He's just annoying and pig-headed, not a bully.

Totally different.

Why this pair? I'na keeps Orkath happy, as well as keeps him in check. Orkath doesn't seem to notice that I'na has the ability to keep him from getting too far out of line, or that he helps him compromise and share when appropriate. Which is... probably a good thing.
