Please only post if you have been QUOTE INVITED to this rp thank you!

It was warm in the dream, it was peaceful. An open canopy, marbled floors, large pillars wrapped with dense greens, lush foliage, openly blossoming blue-white flowers. Scattered between them were statues, creatures and human-like, gazing all towards a single direction.

At her.

< It is time. > It was warm. It was peaceful. It was getting hard to hear exactly what she was saying, as if those called were very aware that it was a thinly veiled dream and their consciousness threatened to snap awake at any second. As if they knew this was not real. She smiled but it was from so far away, her figure suddenly all shadows, black, fading, wispy. < Will you fulfill your part? >

OOC

- All players have been 'summoned' to this dream. It is literally a lapse of consciousness that lasts for only 5 REAL TIME SECONDS. That means it could happen AT ANY POINT, ANY TIME IN DAY. You DO NOT need to exit the thread you are in, you can simply post here when you are ready. Feel free to have your character confused, ready to complete their last action, before they are summoned here.
- Your character can speak and ask questions as needed

Jerry was screaming and kicking and swinging his crowbar with such force he toppled backward when suddenly there was no longer a sharp-toothed monstrosity of a swamp beast latched onto his leg, weighing him down any longer.

Blinking upward at the suddenly high pillars and statues around him, he straightened his glasses. "What in the..."

This wasn't the labyrinth. Had someone popped him some Blue when he wasn't looking? Well, s**t.

The sudden change of scenery had Kat do a double take at her surroundings. How--when had she arrived at this place? Last thing she recalled, she was on the white kingdom's ship, and now..

it all seemed to foreign to her, yet.. warm.

The figure ahead didn't go unnoticed. though she had no idea as to who she was, she couldn't shake the feeling that the woman had taken something from her once before, but.. what..?

The others gathered received a quick glance from the alien, checking them over quickly, unsure of who they were. Ami and Ryan were here as well, but.. that still didn't explain why or how they had been summoned.

"Our part..?"

One moment they had been falling, the next they were lying on a cool marble floor in a warm summer breeze. We're they home? Po and Candace sat up and looked around to see where they were, exchanging a confused look when they both realized this was not home. Either this was heaven or one of them was dreaming. Oh no...she'd failed Harrison. He had put such faith in her and not even a day later she had gone and died! And not even because of some kind of attack in a battle, no! She fell!

Maybe it was a dream? But how could it be? There was a girl not too far off who was clearly from the White kingdom. And...Jerry was here. "Po--"

A voice spoke, wrapping its self around her mind like a warm embrace that both calmed and confused her further. "Time?" Po helped her stand then. Ah.. "And what is our part?"

Daydreaming was nothing new to Rep, he had a tenuous grasp at best on the thin line between reality and his over-active fantasies and imagination. But this, he had to admit was new. He was almost outraged as he sat up, where the hell was he? There was a twist of anxiousness as he sought around for the one he knew had to be there with him. Harrison had called it bound by fate. Tracey laid a hand on his arm, he was there too.

It was swanky, big and beautiful like someone's summer home, like the kind of summer home he might fancy, the flowers were nice and those statues almost looked real.

He squinted, tried to see, but it was like sand through his fingers, curiosity begged he stayed, this wasn't some idle fantasy, it was something else entirely.

Will you fulfil your part?

The nod was almost instinctual. He always did his job. He might have been unprofessional in other ways, but he never shirked what Harrison asked of him. He did his part for the organisation, but he wasn't sure that was what she meant. Tracey's got to his feet with him, one steadying the other.

"Who are you?" he asked suspiciously.

A garden of statues that gazed longingly towards the center, staring stonily at a figure. Jordan stayed where he was, getting his bearings. Where was he, and why? He hadn't gone through a portal or taken anything interesting, but this was not the casino. Who was the woman at the center, speaking to them in a voice that sounded like it came from far away?

Will you fulfill your part?

"What part is that?" Jordan asked suspiciously. She spoke as though she knew him - them - and as if they owed something to her. He had never seen her in his life. What did she want from them, and why?

Jerry scrambled uneasily to his feet, blinking as several familiar faces all appeared. "You guys are here too? L-look, I d-don't... my part is doing my job, right? I'm ok with that..." He managed to the ominous voice in his head.

Roar groaned, rubbing his temple as he approached the trembling man. "Just keep your cool."
PostPosted: Thu Jan 24, 2013 10:53 am

It had been a rather draining day. The news from the 'voice,' sacrifices and all the crap that followed with it was already weighing heavily on his mind. However, didn't think he was so stressed by this that his mind would take a walk within the next moment.

Ryan was just about to give pursuit to the android running rampant in the ship when he found he was somewhere else entirely. Somewhere warm, foreign and completely void of the soft glows of the tech he had grown accustomed to over the years of his life. All of which made him wonder if he had finally lost it. At the center however, was what caught and held his attention.

He didn't know her and yet, he got the feeling that this hadn't been their first encounter either. The look across his face couldn't be avoided. Hate. He felt as though he had lost something to her once before. Something precious. His head throbbed as a reminder of that meeting. It was both strange and unnerving. He did not trust her.

"What roll is that exactly?" He asked, instinctively stepping between those of his own kingdom, and the foreign woman, as well as keeping a wary eye on those present from, what he assumed was the blue kingdom. He wasn't all that familiar with the blue kingdom, but like the woman, he had little reason to trust them. They were after all, rivals in this little game. Though, if this was some ploy to bring ruin to both their kingdoms then...

Ami had been on her way back to the ship, her body somewhere deep under the remains of the Silver Tower, when a voice called to her. She remembered feeling the weight of two hands on her back, but now .... it was gone. Actually, she felt somewhat airy, as though she was floating.

Lush creams and vibrant greens filled her vision, a sort of tropical hallucination of somesort. The voice that spoke to her was warm, comfortable- like a mother, something she hadn't had for a long time now.

"I am," she responded shortly. She didn't know what role that was, but somehow she imagined that asking this person "WHAT'S GOING ON" or "WHAT DO YOU MEAN" wasn't going to yield very many answers. She'd had a lot of unanswered questions today, and now was no exception. Especialy since her mind was already racing. Her role was Seargent, Wilson had declared as much. If it was time to ... "Go where he could not," the. So be it. She'd been ready since the moment she volunteered.

Maybe she'd consult Wilson when she returned about these whispers and visions.

If she returned.

< As you insist. > She waved her hand a bit, as the illusion dissolved entirely and -

*

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP.

The first thing you see, through bleary, groggy half-open eyes are figures moving about. Figures wearing white, most of them in longer coats, most of them almost familiar, disheveled.

"They're awake!" The source of that voice is kind of annoying, in a sort of familiar I-really-want-to-punch-you sort of way. He's wearing on his moppy brown hair the strangest helmet-like device with what looked like a Christmas Tree's worth of lightbulbs sticking out from it. "The first round of testers made it back - huzzah!"

You feel yourself being shaken. And then as everything clears up, the white room, the bright lights, and the fact that you are lying on some sort of metal bed with wires attached to you. There's also something considerably heavy on your head, which you remove.

"Well," Remarks another dry voice, "At least they woke up. I was kind of afraid we ended up offing another batch and-"

"- Yeah well you know how His Highness is about us using-" Quote fingers came up - "'Valuable resources' these days. I thought for sure they were going to-"

"So did you see it?", Interrupted the first, really annoying voice, shaking you a bit more. A pause. "The artifact! The artifact you're after? You know the - artifact! How could you miss it! What did you think you were in there for, were were this close and-" He starts to tear at his hair from under the helmet, -"Please at least manage to tell you you like, woke your buddies up and stuff."

"Survey says," Responded the same dry voice from the back, "They didn't. Considering they had to get pulled out themselves, somehow, I don't even thinks the powers of magic and science could save whomever else is trapped in there. We're probably just going to abort this mission and-"

"No no no no no, hang on, hang on. Stop! Halt! Error!" The helmeted guy ignored the fact that everyone else seemed like they wanted nothing more than to strangle him. "How much can I bribe you to go back, since you're like, familiar with the place, and stuff. You gotta find it okay, my job's on the line, and yours, kind of, well, and you sort of left your coma dead friends still in a coma and sort of dead." A pause, and a sigh. "Did any of you guys read my cool powerpoint slide? I mean I even gave it animations and everything! All you needed to do was hook it up to a tablet or laptop and... okay, fine whatever. Okay lemme explain real fast here." He held up one finger. "That finger is you. And this other finger, my left one, is you in this cool alternate universe parallel world created by -. Think of this alternate version you as everything you are but actually fake. That's because the entire alternate universe is based on fake memories that - has created. Okay with me so far? Now this is where it gets super super awesome. So like, when we sent you into dream state zero, you managed to merge with that alternate memory personality. Only, we've had issues where that alternate memory absorbs the original personality, comas happen, so on so forth, but hey, now that you're awake it's like a twenty-percent success rate! Not bad right?"

Someone coughed. He glowered.

"Well, whatever. So anyway, you kind of need to go back. Now that you're aware that this alternate reality memory is not really you and well, you are you, if you know what I mean, things should be easier. I'll meet you guys inside too, I've been snooping around for a bit and you won't believe what I found - but I still need distractions - I mean help! Yes, help! And you need to save your friends and all that cool friendship bonding stuff right? So come on, lets do this and I'll split the credit with you guys okay. You can go find your coma friends, uh that Moon dude, - , was it? And that weird mask dude from Death, - ? I'm sure they'd appreciate you saving their lives from being sucked into an eternal coma and stuff. Anyway, keep these fake fragment things distracted. Keep the Kings and - distracted. The only way to wake up your coma buddies is if you defeat their false memories - the Kings - and find their secret like, secret chamber thing. Secret boss loot area. Whatever. Anyway, hack yourself in, and bam! You'll find, well, it should be a gate or portal or something? Crack it open. That's your true friend's I dunno, I guess like spiritual selves or something inside. Drag them out. I'll be waiting for you in the Junkyard, its a little past the battlefield, skip the main battle area and make a hard left, and continue north. I'll meet you there. The password is 'Mark is Awesome'."

He preened a bit, as if this somehow directly correlated to him. "Well yeah, uh, good luck, and stuff. I'll try and get you guys a direct respawn point line, this stuff is real, like you know, complex and stuff. I've coded stuff from scratch from Java that wasn't as hard as this s**t, in you go. Have fun!"

You feel yourself getting sleepy as everything blurs again.

ALL PLAYERS WHO WERE QUOTED HERE:

- Feel free to write a reaction post to all this before you leave! You can now also update your rps (from now onwards) with correct responses to everything as you see fit - as well as communicate with each other - anyone in this thread since you all saw each other before you went into this world.
- You have finally woken up from this haze. The first thing you realize is who you are. No, not your dream selves, not of this Miasma or strange distorted world, but who you were prior. A mission. Deus Ex. Saving your friends.
- As the pieces finally assemble together, so does a very jarring understanding. You know exactly what you must do now. Defeat the Kings. Defeat who you once, before you woke up, pledged to. Defeat Kings that were nothing but made-up memories of your true friends. You feel sick, you feel torn in half, conflicted. Maybe this wasn't real, and yet as you try to think back and remember the world of Miasma, everything calling to you of this world seems false. No the most important thing is that you must rescue your friends at all costs. After all, everything here is just a false memory, and that past you, that Miasma-you, was as well too.
- As you wake up, you see a strange imprint stamped onto your hand or arm. It glows a deep white and is shaped like a flower. (OOC: Instead of dying in battle, your character simple respawns from the Silver Gate (to be announced location, keep an eye out for it!)).
- HOWEVER, since your character was sent under special conditions, that means every other character is just a memory fragment created by the Voice including the Kings. Everyone else is fake. Everyone else must be taken out, faction or no faction, at all costs. How does it feel to have the weight of consequences in your hands, for you who once pledged everything to in your fit of false memory?
- How does it feel to be the only ones who will remember this and ever know what truly happened.

No.

Candace sat on the table, her eyes wide and staring down at her helmet. No..n..no...no, no. No this..this couldn't be...Harrison. He was there. She looked all around in search of him, desperately praying he was awake beside them. Rep, Jerry, Jordan...Ami..Ryan and Kat. Just them. Only them. "Oh god.." She whispered quietly, her voice barely escaping her. That Harrison, the one who had put so much trust into her and cared about her, wasn't really Harrison? He was in a coma..he was still in a coma. Would he remember this? Would he remember what Mark was telling them they had to do?

Defeat the kings.

Her king had Harrison's face. His personality. It might as well be Harrison.

They could save him. "Rep? Jordan?" She looked to each of them, her eyes wide and brimming with tears she refused to shed. This was not a time to cry.

But...Harrison..

"We can do this..." Candace would just keep telling herself this. We can do this. Harrison already had that belief somewhere in his head that Candace had killed him during their trial, the last thing she wanted was for him to actually think she killed him. Could any of them actually...

No. They could. They had to. They had to. "We can do this.." She laid down on the metal bed again, putting the helmet back on with a slow sigh. We can do this.

For Harrison. Her best friend. Her thirteen. She just wanted him back..

Ami stood in front of the silver gate with wide eyes. Holy s**t. Holy ********' s**t. She remembered everything, from the moment she'd stepped out of the pods to the moment she'd accepted this mission. She even remembered being excited because it was her first mission as a full hunter, with Junpei in tow.

Now Junpei was silent though. They were back in the realm of Kingdoms, and Ami was back to being some strange mix of fish and person. She looked down to her fingers with a look that could only be described as horror and disgust. Her shaking hands slowly went to touch her face, and she felt scales like that of a fish.

A scream would've escaped her mouth if Ami didn't have the expression control that she did. Instead, she internalized it, trying to analyze it. They had a mission, kill the kings ... that meant Wilson ...

No, he wasn't Wilson. He was a fake, this was some sort of ... strange alternate reality, as described by the lab tech's fingers. Mission. She had a duty, and an obligation to the hunters. Her arm itched and she quickly rolled up the sleeve, revealing a glowing white flower mark, somewhere above her White Kingdom mark. She closed her eyes and tried counting to ten.

She stepped through the gate. They'd talk in the kingdom.

Rep had no idea where he was. There was a moment of terrified confusion, had he been pulled into conversation with the voice again? No. This. This wasn't the voice. He was way too scruffy. He looked familiar in a sort of tatty scarecrow way. Mar...Mark. He knew him.

He knew all of this. it was a sickening splash of cold water to the face. He'd failed? No he couldn't fail, there was no option to fail.

He'd been sitting beside Harrison's bed, waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing. Further and further into despair until it felt like Harrison would never wake again. He almost wanted to join him.

When there'd been a chance to help, they'd jumped to it. Rep had nothing to lose and had gone too. Jordan had been the last person he'd saw before he went under. Together. Together they could do this. But something had gone wrong.

He scrambled to keep track of what Mark had to say. It was science. A lot of it.

A Junkyard. Get there.

This wasn't going to be fun Mark, he thought and was about to say so.

It faded out before he could argue.

PostPosted: Thu Jan 24, 2013 9:52 pm

To say Kat was shocked was a bit of an understatement at this point. Having woken up in the real world, having things explained to them once again, all of her memories came flooding back. Everything about this world was fake, aside from the few selected hunters that had taken on this mission with her. Ami, Ryan, Dakota, Candace, Jerry, Rep, and Jordan.

So, in order to save their friends, they had to kill them. It should be easy, right? They weren't real after all. That's what she wanted to believe, but everything here - even knowing it was fake - it felt real. Wilson, the 'king' in this world - this alternate universe.. he looked and sounded like the actual Wilson. So to knowingly have to kill him.. she had mixed feelings on it all.

Well, things just got a whole lot more awkward..

Brushing her hand across her face, she headed for the silver gate. At least she could talk things through further with Ryan, Ami and Dakota. The others as well, later.

They needed to get to the junkyard.

They had to somehow find their way there, and meet up with Mark. Gawd.. Mark. There was no way in hell that she would be speaking that password herself if she had the option. The little weasel.. of course he would have chosen something like that for a password. When she got out of this place, she would make a mental note to smack him over the head for it.

If she was lucky, other hunters would arrive ahead of her, and say it in her place. Otherwise, she would have to suck it up and spit it out herself. Ugh.. it was a good thing she actually cared about the well being of the real Wilson.

In any case, she needed to get back and have a chat in private with the others.

When she said they had a role to fulfill, Ryan was expecting a lot of things. However, what he expected and was revealed were completely different. Not to mention, it had been the last thing he would have expected and it felt as though he had been struck in the face.

Not real?

"Holy s**t... All of this is--" The haze lifted and reality set in. This was not real. None of it. None of it except for them, anyways. These people standing here. Everything else was just a figment of--whatever it was that was controlling all of this messed up world. This was just another mission and just realizing it was like someone had just taken his entire world and turned it upside down. It had been so real for him. From the environment, to the people, his friends--Wilson...

They really had to kill Wilson...?

No, it wasn't Wilson. It may sound, walk, talk, and act like him, but it wasn't him. The real Wilson was still trapped in a coma and the only way to free him was to defeat the kings. All of them. That included the white king. There was no room for failure.

With that much in mind and his eyes finally having been opened to the truth everything faded out. He had nothing to say. Or rather he couldn't. There was too many conflicting emotions that he was lost for words. He didn't want to kill the white king. Even if he was just a fake. He still felt real enough that it was like killing an actual being. Which, while they were in this 'world' they might as well be. In short, the whole situation was messed up and while it wasn't real, it wasn't all that fake either. One thing was for certain, however. When he got back, he was going to find Dakota, Kat and Ami and hear what they have to say and decide where to go from there. He only hoped that they had more of a plan then he did.
