Leonora stretched her arms over her head as she walked out of the building where she worked. It had been a long day; she had come in early to help her friend and business partner get ready for tomorrow. It was the grand opening! How could she not work hard? She was definitely tired, but everything felt so good at the same time. The only thing that made her nervous was that normally she would have been home by now.

There were rumors, a lot of them, that there were strange people wandering the streets at night. Even monsters! Although Leonora was classified as an adult through age, she was still very much intimidated by the things she heard, and well, had done well avoiding everything. That was, until tonight.
Leonora was on high alert as she walked down the street towards the park, the park that she had to pass in order to get home. “Ugh… Why did I want to be so helpful? Why did I have to stay this late,” she wondered quietly to herself.

She soon made it to the park and started to relax a little bit. The park seemed quiet. Some would think too quiet, but if people were fighting, she would definitely be able to hear it, right?! When Leonora heard a crash and a roar, her feelings of being safe and relaxed disappeared, being replaced by a deep fear and a desire to run.

Leonora ran, but little did she know that she would run into the sound, the beast. She stared at it, frozen in her place, mouth agape. It was a dark creature that seemed like a huge wolf. It started to walk closer and closer to her. Leonora backed up slowly, but eventually her back was to a wall. Her legs grew weak and she ended up sitting there. There was a part of her that wanted to cry, but another that was screaming at her to fight. “But how?

She closed her eyes and covered her face with her right arm. “What am I supposed to do?” Leonora was screaming at herself until through her closed eyes she saw a faint glow, slowly growing stronger. She opened her eyes to see a ring and bracelet, attached together with little star stones and a thin chain appear on her right hand. Leonora couldn’t help but stare at it in awe, but the light grew brighter, blinding both her and the shadow wolf. There was a yelp from the wolf.

When she opened her eyes again, Leonora wasn’t in her work clothes anymore; she wasn’t even in any clothes she thought she owned. She blinked a few times, looking herself over. The bracelet was still there. She had baggy sleeves and a one piece dress. The colors seemed to resemble the night sky. “Well, this looks cute, but what in the world is going on?!

Her attention went back to the shadow wolf-thing as it growled at her. Leonora-well, she didn’t feel like Leonora- brought out her hands trying to make peace with the thing. “Please… Just go away. I don’t want to hit you and I’m just skin and bones and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to hurt me either!” The only response she got was a growl from the beast.

“What am I supposed to do now?” She said as she looked up into the sky.

Mimi had a fun early evening. The days turned into night quickly, and it became cold even faster. She wasn’t too fond of winter in her fuku, but at least she had the mirrors to disappear into when she was too cold. She was hopping through mirrors on her way to the park. Mimi only stopped as she stumbled upon the sleeping homeless where she’d send out a mirror wraith to collect some energy. “At least I’m easily getting things done tonight…

When there was snow upon the ground, it had been harder for Mimi to gather energy; the weather was just too cold for people to wander out at night. Even the homeless ended up taking refuge at shelters. She guessed she could always have broken into those things, but that was definitely not her game; Mimi knew she wouldn’t want to be attacked when she was attacked at home, so she would not do that either.

She arrived at the park as she heard the growl of a youma and someone else speaking. Mimi could feel the presence of a page, but it was a tad different from the ones she had felt before. There was a feeling of anger and irritation within her still because of what had happened before. Slowly, she came up on the youma and page duo, careful not to interrupt the actions of the youma. They were on the same side, but she had no idea if a youma would listen to a Senshi of the DMC.

Mimi was soon right behind the youma and she could see the girl, sitting there with her hand covering her face, asking the youma to leave and wondering what else she could do. “That’s… Kind of sad. Person must be new or not know how to fight or something…” She soon made eye contact with the page and then smiled and waved.

Leonora looked confused as she looked at the girl standing behind the monster. The girl had brown eyes and light and dark brown hair. She thought that the girl was quite pretty. Even her outfit of purple and black was quite adorable. “Is she one of those people that run around at night attacking people? Am I one of those now…?” The girl was just standing there and waving, but she could feel something different, like a sixth sense, that told her the girl was no good, but Leonora knew she needed help.

“Is this thing yours?” She asked the girl. “If anything… Could you please get it away from me?” Leonora felt bad asking for help, but she was confused and really didn’t know what to do. Her talking to the girl, however, caused the monster to also look towards the girl. The monster growled and snapped at the girl. “Oops… I didn’t mean to do that. And I guess the thing isn’t yours.”

She felt bad that she was causing trouble for the girl, but what else was Leonora going to do? Now that the monster was looking away from her, Leonora stood up and looked over at the girl again. “Well, at least thank you for grabbing its attention and letting me stand up again…”

As Mimi jumped back to avoid the snap of the youma, she frowned, irritated that the girl caused the thing to look at her. She was so close she probably could have gotten hurt. That would have made her even madder. At least she proved to herself that the youma were not friendly towards her. Mimi didn’t know what she was expecting though; they were both of Chaos, but she was pretty sure they were like the mirror wraiths and wouldn’t listen to anyone but the members of the DMC.

Not listening to the other girl talk, Mimi kicked the youma’s head and then punched it so it would go flying to the right. Mimi didn’t care much if it disappeared or came back again; she just didn’t like being snapped at, and if she needed to, Mimi would definitely make the thing disappear. “Leave me alone or next time I’ll make you disappear,” she growled at the youma.

Mimi then realized she accidentally helped out an Order girly, let alone a page. She sighed. “At least I knew I was saving my own butt at the same time.” To make herself feel better, she took out her mirror shard and sent the wraith to get a little bit of energy from the blue-haired girl. “I guess you can call that your payment to me, Miss, for helping you out.”
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 10:59 pm

Leonora was shocked to watch the girl in action. She hadn’t looked very strong, but the kick and punch really did damage to the monster. While the girl was throwing the punch, she ran over and watched the monster get flung. “Wow… That was pretty cool!”

She was suddenly taken aback when something else, another kind of monster flew at her. Leonora felt very cold all of a sudden and a little bit weaker than before. There was a flicker of fear in her eye as she looked at the girl. “I’m not sure what that was, but I guess it was worth it instead of getting torn up by that wolf… thing.”

“I’m—“ Leonora realized that she was about to say her real name, but something stopped her and she just paused with her mouth open. “No… Leonora isn’t right.” There was a longer moment of silence as Leonora’s mind raced. Eventually, something called out to her: her name. “My name is Meru… Page of Cosmos.”

When she spoke the worlds out loud, it seemed oddly familiar to her despite it being the first time hearing it or knowing it for that matter. The more she repeated the name in her head, the more comfortable she became. “I am Meru, Page of Cosmos alongside Leonora Shoup!

Meru held out her hand to the girl, ready to shake hands in greeting.

When Mimi saw Meru’s hand come out, she was kind of surprised. She had met other Order aligned before, but none of them had been this straightforward or nice to her. Sure, some had been friendly when it came to talking to her, but… Only the Chaos aligned had really done anything like that with her. Cautiously, Mimi reached out and shook Meru’s hand.

“I’m Mimistrobell, Dark Mirror Senshi of Nightshade.” She smiled. Mimi always enjoyed introducing herself; she was very proud of her name, who she was, and what she represented. Being nice, Mimi continued, explaining what the mirror wraith was. “What I sent out is something from the Dark Mirror Queen, and it helps us gather energy to make more Dark Mirror Senshi.”

Mimi was pretty sure that Meru was new and didn’t know much about what was going on around the both of them, minus that there were people fighting. She knew that she had been there once, well sort of, and that others helped her. Even though they were on different sides, Mimi could help her, right? The Court had no reason to convert Pages. They were supposed to be killed… But it seemed like Meru didn’t know how to fight at all, so it would only be unfair.

“What were you doing around that thing anyways? Why are you out here if you do not fight?”
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:02 pm

Meru listened intently as Mimi talked about herself. It was clear that the… Dark Mirror? Senshi knew what she was talking about. She also knew where she fit in, but where was ‘Meru’? Where was the ‘page of Cosmos’? What else was in store for her? It was at this point that Meru started to get a little bit saddened and worried. It was easy to see it on her face.

“It’s nice to meet you, Mimistrobell. Nightshade sounds very intimidating, more so because I’ve read it in books about it being deadly.” Meru kept listening to Mimi, interested in learning more about the things called ‘mirror wraiths’. That was, until Mimi asked her what she was doing out here. Honestly, Meru didn’t really have an answer.

She started off simple. “I was just on my way home when that… Thing appeared out of nowhere and attacked me. I don’t normally head home this late, but I was still setting up for the grand opening of a place I work at…” Meru realized she was rambling, and decided to stop there. “I’ve only recently moved into this city, and well, it was quite some welcoming.”

There had been a lot of good things that she had done within the city. The only thing she wished she did differently was go home earlier. She could have avoided the wolf-thing. She wouldn’t be talking to Mimi now. “But if it did change… I would never have discovered ‘Meru’… Well, at least this city fits its name!

Mimi wasn’t surprised at all with what Meru was telling her. She did see that the page was telling a bit more than she should, but at least the girl knew when to stop. There was a pang of guilt in her though, realizing that she had people teaching her the ropes very early on. “This… Page of Cosmos. Who is she going to depend on? She just moved into the city and is barely meeting people!

Some would wonder why Mimi was part of the DMC. For herself, Mimi knew that there was a darker side, but for the most part, Mimi just wanted to do her part in helping Ares as well as keeping herself a live. She fought when she needed to and she would defend if she needed to. Mimi really wished that everyone that was of both Order and Chaos could do their own thing without being interrupted, but she knew that was more than just a far off dream. It was impossible.

“Well, Meru,” Mimi started to say. “You really shouldn’t be wandering around at night, at least, not unless you’re prepared to fight or get beaten up. I’m technically supposed to kill pages if I ever meet them, mostly because my Queen has use for Senshi only, not pages like you. But… I have no desire to even harm you. You have done nothing to me. You didn’t even fight off that wolf youma. It would be an unfair advantage for me, and I don’t like that.”

She wasn’t the best fighter around, but even that one other page was able to defend, however dirty it was. Meru… She didn’t seem like she’d fight, even if she knew how. Mimi sighed. “Maybe you should just head home now, to make sure nothing happens to you, yes?”
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:04 pm

Meru knew what Mimi said was true, but Meru also knew that sometimes, like today, it just couldn’t be helped. She didn’t want to go into detail to what she had been doing the whole day, but those worries were overshadowed by a word that Meru was surprised came out of Mimistrobell’s mouth; she just seemed so nice! Instinctively, Meru took a few steps back away from Mimistrobell. The DMC Senshi had already said that she wouldn’t harm Meru, but now… With the word ‘kill’… The security that Meru felt around her possibly new ‘friend’ was gone.

“You’ve… Killed people like me?” Meru paused, looking over the girl. Now that she actually took the time to look, the girl didn’t look that old, maybe in her teens but no more. The way she spoke and held herself made Meru think that she was older, but it was all a façade. “A girl like you actually managed to kill someone?”

The last few words came out of Meru’s mouth as if she was spitting something dirty out. She couldn’t help it; even just thinking as Leonora she would be disgusted. Meru had no idea the war between the two sides was that bad until now. “What in the world did I get myself into?!

“I don’t want to fight… You or anyone one else!” Meru yelled that out a little bit, but it was true. If she could, she wouldn’t fight and would rather just get beaten up. She’d rather help both sides than have to attack anyone. “I can help peoples’ wounds and stuff with my therapy! It could also lead to good practice as well…

When she saw Meru take steps away from her, Mimi was unsure of if she should be proud or offended. She could sense that who she was and what she was a part of intimidated Meru, but at the same time, Mimi wished that she could be seen for whom she normally was as well; not just the girl in the fuku, but also the girl behind the fuku! After Mimi thought about it, she realized that once again it was farfetched, but hey, a girl could hope, right?

Mimi frowned, however, when she was accused of being a killer. It made her take a few steps towards Meru again and glared into the page’s eyes. “I said we were told to kill, not that I’ve actually done so.” She wanted to reach out and hold Meru by her top, but she tried her best to keep her temper from getting worse.

She turned away from Meru again and then tried her best to compose herself. Her anger had gotten the best of her, and, not really sure why, but Mimi recalled the day she almost did kill someone. “There was once I almost had killed a page. I had just learned the basics of fighting and I wanted to test it all out. I ran into her… She grabbed my hair and stuff which caused me to lose my temper… I ended up on top of her… Choking her…”

Mimi still had no idea why she was telling Meru this, but at that point, she just wanted to let it out all over again. She had done it before, to others, and they had told her she shouldn’t think about it until she had to, but it was something that plagued her. It was something she couldn’t even tell her parents!

In a softer tone of voice, she said her final sentence. “It’s been bothering me a lot because…. Because I think a part of me might have actually enjoyed what was happening….”
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:06 pm

Meru blinked a few times, watching Mimi’s reaction of what she said. She could tell that the DMC was very much offended by her comment that she was a killer, but just as fast as her anger grew came something else. Meru couldn’t tell what it was at first, but after a few moments of just listening to Mimi with the changes in tone and intensity. It took a while for Meru to decipher what Mimi was feeling. When she realized it, despite her position of possibly getting her a** kicked, Meru felt like she had to do what she was about to do.

She gave Mimi a hug, wrapping her arms around her neck. They were both facing the same direction, but Meru felt like the girl just needed a hug; there was a chance of Mimi rejecting the act of comfort, but it felt right to Meru. “Well, if it makes you feel better,” she whispered in Mimi’s ear. “You haven’t killed me yet and I don’t think you would!”

“It was just something that happened; it wasn’t like you were planning to kill anyone.” Meru made sure that she still was giving Mimi a tight hug as she continued to talk. “You seem like a good person to me, despite the… Aura I feel from you. I’m pretty sure you won’t kill for fun, but only if you really needed to defend yourself!”

There were more surprises than not with tonight’s meeting. First Mimi learned that a youma would snap at her, and now… She was being hugged by a page! Mimi had so much hatred for pages since a previous meeting, but Meru was being so… Nice.

She remembered telling others about how she felt. It confused her, but she tried to keep pushing it back because Mimi was told that it wasn’t important until it actually happened. It didn’t cause her fear to recede though. Oddly enough, Mimi was very thankful for what Meru had said, and she really appreciated the hug. Mimi could feel her shoulder relax slightly, welcoming a hug for once and not a pep talk. She wasn’t sure to say at first, but she managed to utter two words. “Thank you…”

Mimi felt the warmth of Meru behind her and realized, despite her having friends and allies in the Chaos faction, none had really come to give her a hug as of yet. Meru was the first one that actually gave her a hug and well… They’ve only known each other for a really short time. Despite that however, Mimi did feel really comforted until she realized something else. What if someone saw them? Of either faction?!

Immediately, she pushed Meru back. It wasn’t a hard enough shove to cause Meru to fall, but it was clear that Mimi wanted to get away from her. Mimi furrowed her brows and glared once again at Meru. “Who do you think you are?” She said, louder than normal. “You’re Order scum, and Princess Ares has no use for you! I’d kill you if anything!”

In a softer, almost inaudible tone, Mimi spoke again. “I don’t hate you, but… If anyone else saw what was going on just now, I wouldn’t be surprised if they thought we were traitors! I want to be able to see you as a friend… But there are boundaries!”
PostPosted: Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:08 pm

Meru just let herself be pushed when Mimi made contact, not offended or anything. There was a pang of sadness because Meru wanted to help Mimi feel better, but it wasn’t like her to get attached to anyone, especially this quickly. The page stood their awkwardly listening to the DMC Senshi had to say and understood. She gave Mimi a silent nod in agreement.

She wasn’t sure what to say at first, but Meru had to be who she was, even behind the page. She still needed to be Leonora! Shy, but meaningful, Meru looked into Mimi’s eyes and gave her a warm smile. “I know we are on opposing sides. Well, that’s all I know right now, but if we meet again, you’re free to depend on me. That is, if you want to.” Meru wasn’t sure how many people that Mimi had in her life that she could just have a shoulder to lean on, someone to listen to her, but Meru would be there.

A part of Meru told her that it was a bad idea, but she knew that was the ‘page’ part of her talking, not her normal side. There was no discriminating when someone just needed another person by their side, and Meru would always be there for people, powered or not. “I’m pretty sure we are not the first two people on opposing sides to have a… ‘secret’ friendship, right?”

The idea was sort of weird yet oddly exciting, and it showed on Meru’s face that she would be happy and willing for a friendship even if people didn’t know about it. Now, it just depended on if Mimi was interested. “I don’t think it’s a bad idea,” she said with a laugh.

Secret friends…” It was definitely and interesting idea to Mimi. She didn’t know for sure if people she knew had them, but it seemed like something she’d be willing to do. Not giving Meru an audible answer, Mimi nodded her head and smiled. Mimi, however, didn’t want to prolong their meeting any longer; she felt that any longer and someone might spot them, their secret friendship would end quicker than it began.

Mimi started to talk in a lot more hushed tones. “Since you’re new to this… You can probably do this now.” She jumped into the fire escape on the second floor. It was interesting how much strength they gained when they powered up. Mimi learned it the night she first powered up. Now she was giving Meru the chance to learn.

“I’m going to go now though,” Mimi whispered. She honestly didn’t want to and kind of wanted to help Meru some more, but it definitely wasn’t her place. Plus, she was still afraid of what others would think. “I have my own way home, and you should too. Better if you run, since you’re faster now too. Get home… Feel for auras and avoid those that that feel bad that might hurt you. Take care.”

In order to continue the façade that she hated Meru, Mimi yelled once again. “I never want to see you again! Next time I see you, it’ll be your demise!” All in all, Mimi smiled after those words and waved a good bye at Meru. She then continued up the fire escape and disappeared from sight once she was on the roof. There was a mirror hidden there, one that she had hidden herself. Stepping through it, she reappeared back home and powered down. It was certainly an interesting night.
