Chaska giggled and shouted out in glee while he stomped through the water. The salty water tasted gross, but the moving waves provided a fun game. He pawed at the foam that blanketed the sand. It clung to his nose while he examined it before sneezing. This sure beat staying in the den all day. He managed to sneak passed his mother while she dealt with his siblings. Hopefully she won't notice too soon and drag him back. The den was no fun. It wasn't big enough to keep him entertained.
He skipped along the sand before noticing a shell half buried. Cautiously, he poked it with his claw before digging it free. The ridges along the back were fascinating. He racked his claw across them and was rewarded with a little thump-thump. Laughter belted out of his little chest. Things were totally better outside the den. Movement spooked the cub and he sank back with his tail between his legs. His eyes darted around the area looking for danger. Chaska didn't notice the blue female while exploring. He took a few steps back, unsure of whether to run or stay.
