As you guys probably already know, I love to travel! Although I'm sure there is way more too see in Europe than the places I've been so far, I'm ready for a bigger adventure. I really want to go to South America or Asia!
There are a lot of travel agencies that organize guided trips, and I'm considering maybe doing one this summer. They're usually about 20-25 days long, and you go with a group of 10-12 people who are around the same age. It is of course incredibly expensive, which is why I'm not sure if I want to go for it or not.
I've been working part time during the school year and full time during vacations ever since I was 15, and although I've already spent a ton traveling, I do everything on a budget and I've managed to save quite a bit too.
So on the one hand, I feel like now is really the time to something like this. I'll be totally free and uncommitted this summer. No job, no boyfriend. In September I'm starting an internship for school, so I'll be moving back in with my parents and giving up my current job. Which means I'll have no income, but I'll also have no rent or food costs. I feel like next year (2014), I'll be graduating and will want to focus on getting a serious job. I don't want to live with my parents longer than I have to (not that I don't appreciate them, I just like my independence) so I'll be wanting to get out on my own two feet. I feel like "real life" starts then... and I'm aware that taking off for a month and spending a huge chunk of money isn't very realistic once I'm working, have bills to pay... and eventually a boyfriend and kids xp
On the other hand, spending all that money and then having no income for the next year probably isn't the greatest idea financially xp I'd be making it harder for myself after graduation. But I think it would be worth it. I'm just somewhat worried about the groups. I would be signing up alone, which is fine if plenty of other people do that as well... but if everyone else already knows somebody, it might not be so fun. I want to make friends and have fun with the people I'm with, if I feel awkward and alone it's going to ruin the trip. And since it's so expensive, it's kind of a big risk.
So I don't know what to do! Play it safe or have an adventure...

Awesome! I'm glad you decided to do it! I wish I'd had half the adventures you've had in your young life. Enjoy it all while you can!

A bit late but I'm glad you picked to travel! That is part of why I decided to teach in Korea for a year or two and get some traveling in. I haven't mean to many places yet though.
I had some friends visit Thailand and Cambodia and they enjoyed both countries so much! I hope you do too! Working every summer since 15, you enjoy to have some fun for a change!
