Name: Ian Bach
Nickname: I (Said as 'E') a half assed way of shortening an already very short name.
Age: 18
Birthday: September 3rd
Sign: Virgo
Gemstone: Carnelian/Sapphire
Blood Type: A
Fav. Food: Chicken. Almost anything with chicken involved, aside from fried chicken.
Hated Food: Anything fast food or greasy.
School: Dropped out of Hillworth. Has his GED, will be in college in the fall.
Hobbies: Reading: He might not act it, especially with dropping out, but Ian is a bright child. He likes to read, a lot, and has quite the book collection in his room. Jackets have been removed from the books, and unless the cover art is good they've been thrown out. He'd really rather not deal with ruining a possibly nice cover on a book and in the name of keeping everything uniform he's removed the dust jacket from every other book he owns. Also, in the name of being consistent every book he has is hardcover. For those books that only come soft cover...well he has them downloaded on his Kindle Fire, a nice Christmas gift from his mother. It's really not unusual to see him curled up in a window sill, laying on his bed, or curled up in the corner of the living room couch with a book, or his Kindle, in hand and reading. Normally when reading, in order to keep his focus, he'll have his head set on playing low classical music (it's less distracting than his usual taste in music). Ian reads all kinds of books though a lot of them are odd ones, at least to most people. They aren't popular or well known titles.
It's a case of Ian walking into the bookstore and randomly picking a section in the store and looking over titles and reading the backs and inside covers of books, to get an idea what it's about. He picks his reads by this. There is a collection, though small, of books he's bought and read and didn't like - some he's never even finished.
Music: Music, oh god! Ian loves music. From classical (to block out distractions so he can work) to Kill Hannah, Nightwish, and other louder groups. He isn't into metal, well not the normal type. He also isn't a fan of the type of music where you can't understand the words, it's pointless really. While he's not really the type to go to concerts, he isn't big on the crowds and being shoved about, he has gone to a concert or two - for really good groups. Ian is more a fan of the little underground places that have good bands show up, sometimes really good ones. These sorts of underground places are more his scene, less people, less noise, and with a crowd he knows to a point. He doesn't feel like such a loner, even though he is.
Politics: Ian being a smart child is also the sort who thinks that anyone old enough to vote and does should be informed; well informed. Taking that in mind he does keep up with politics, what laws are being passed, what people are trying to pass, fights for certain rights, and what platforms people in office are running on. When he's up late at night, being the night owl he is, he is either reading on politics or perusing his other hobby - hacking. Both sort of go hand in hand really. Not the type to go to political protests or any such thing there has been the odd time or two that he's been made to go, surrounded by several masked friends. But it's only been that time or two and he has no plans to do so again - too many people for his taste.
Hacker: It was something he learned from a friend of his, someone he's still friends with, and he took it to the next step. Really it was only a matter of time, it shouldn't surprise people really, that given his strong liberal opinions and his opinion on things that he would put his hacking skills to good use after fine tuning them. Ian has a guy fawks mask hidden in his closet. He's one of the collective, a member of anonymous. Hacking is no longer something done just for the lulz or simply to see if he can hack this or that site. There is now a purpose behind it and not being the type to go to protests and such this is Ian's way of being involved in politics and voicing his opinion; even though it's not technically voicing anything - it's taking action.
Virtues: Loyal: Whether it's a friend or a belief, or set of beliefs, Ian is a loyal person - unless given a reason to be otherwise. If no reason, back stabbing for instance, takes place than Ian is loyal to a fault. He will always see the best in a person he's friends with until the bad in them smacks him right in the face. This loyalty of his has shown itself in him sticking with his friends through everything and always being the shoulder for them to cry on, the ear for them to whisper their every trouble into, the person who will help them whenever he can in whatever fashion they need help (provided he's able to help them). This loyalty has been the cause of him going to a protest, when he's much more comfortable behind his computer screen, in order to stand at the side of friends who wanted his support. It's not hard to become an acquaintances of his but to become a friend it takes a lot more. Ian isn't the most social of people and the few who can handle his awkward moments, odd sense of humor, and other varied quirks. For those who don't pass the test, even if it's not stated as a test it is mentally, Ian's loyalty extends only to supporting you if your right and just in whatever you might be saying or doing. If your wrong - your wrong. He isn't so blinded by his loyalty, after all your just ilke every other person out there.
Activist: Need someone to sign a petition, hack a website, make a petition and collection signatures online, or just in general do something? Ian will do that something, provided he believes in it and it doesn't involve going out into a crowd (otherwise he so would have gone to one of the Occupy sites and...well occupied). Ian isn't the type to sit on his a**, watch what's happening in the world, and b***h and moan and do absolutely nothing. He will sit on his a**, at his computer, and get to work on trying to help solve what he sees as problems or shine a huge a** light on the problem so it gets fixed. But really it doesn't stop there, it's not all dealing with large scale problems and situations, no. Should something happen in school that he deems unfair, cruel, or just something wrong he will make sure everyone is made aware of it. Maybe he won't go around shouting about it and causing a scene but he most certainly will put all eyes possible on the issue at hand. Whether he need to post it every classmates facebook and tweet it for people to see or if he needs to hack into the schools system and post it on the wallpaper for all the computers in the school he will do it. He's not afraid of being caught, who would look his way anyway? he's the quite one, though don't they have that saying about it always being the quite ones? Either way he will do what he has to in order to handle a situation and right a wrong, including ones he sees while out and about; as rare as that is. Social media really does have it's uses and he likes to take advantage of them, though he certainly doesn't see it as taking advantage of anything - he's just using the tools provided him.
Strong Willed: Like a mountain that's what his beliefs are like. They are solid and unmovable. He will not budge on what he believes in and while some might think being unyielding and unwilling to bend is a problem, he's certainly not like the willow in this case, Ian sees it as a good thing. He's loyal to his beliefs and your not going to make him even doubt his beliefs for a moment. Because he's got this ideal world in his mind and his beliefs coincide with what he thinks is a perfect world. A perfect world where everyone is equal no matter what, among other things. He knows what he's about and doesn't need someone to tell him who he is or what he should believe or do. He's quite capable of deciding things for himself - thank you very much. Amongst his friends where two people can be best friends one day and enemies the next Ian seems to be the one constant, perhaps that's why everyone comes to talk to him? Because he won't think less, or differently, of them? He won't try and change their minds on things either, unless it's something dangerous or potentially so. And he expects people to not try and change his mind, out of respect, though there are always people who will try and change your mind. Too bad they don't know that their words, no matter what they are, won't change his mind one iota. His ideas, opinions, and beliefs are just that - his. And he won't give them up because someone else wants him to because he stays firm in his convictions and could never turn his back on a worthy cause.
Flaws: Socially Awkward: He's not one to jump and make friends nor is he a loud person. Ian is in fact a rather socially stunted person in many ways. While everyone else around him is loud, gossiping, and just social he's the one to sit in the back and talk, in a soft voice, to a few people and observe those around him. He doesn't go to parties, he's simply too uncomfortable to put himself out there that much. He really does miss out on those sorts of things, his friends tend to invite people he doesn't know to parties, and so there are always references and inside jokes that he just doesn't get - cause he wasn't there! It's only in private and with his friends that he's comfortable enough to be almost as loud as them and almost as crazy, he's still more restrained than the rest of his friends. With his friends he can be himself and will cuddle his friends, tease them, making teasing passes at them, crazy and sometimes sexual comments - he really can be just like them when in private. It's never been easy for him to make friends, and he's never been the first one to make a move - he just doesn't know how. He'll second guess himself, think it's wrong or odd however he plans to break the ice and then just...scrap the whole thing. Most of the time his ideas for breaking the ice involve talking about things he knows, politics, hacking, and the evils of certain things, or he will want to just butt into a conversation with either some lame add in or random fact that he knows no one wants to hear. Really he needs his friends to make more friends for themselves and for him! If only everyone could be like the people he talks to online! It would all be so much easier, he doesn't have to worry as much online talking to people. They get what he's saying and share his opinions and are smarter than his friends, no offense to them! Some of his friends are simply immature and don't share his views; those that are strong in their opposing opinions he avoids talking about those topics with or in most cases makes it light and playful rather than serious. For his friends he'll do this; they don't have to share all the same views and opinions as him - just a few (they really need to accept him though).
This social awkwardness extends to school where he's quite and almost guarded. Not wanting to be himself in front of those who would tease about it, mock him, or say anything about him. Even in a classroom when it comes to answering questions he's not one to raise his hand, though you can at times catch an eye roll or a nodding of his head or some other movement from him. He just doesn't want to deal with people - classmates - saying things to him or teachers praising him, in anyway.
Opinionated: With those he's close to and will openly talk to Ian is known to be rather opinionated and unwilling to change those opinions. He's not one to be swayed and is rather vehement in his opinions and amongst his friends it's known that certain topics, mostly political ones, are to be avoided. He can go on quite the tangent about such topics (gay marriage, abortion, gun control, legalization of pot...ect...). For those who don't know him well he's rather quite and shy and those people would be in for quite the shock if they were to become a close friend of his. Of if they ever found out what he did at night one his free time. Not only is he one of those mask wearing, computer hacking, members of the collective known as anonymous but Ian is one of the ones who likes to throw peoples opinions back at them while putting holes into their opinions and beliefs by pointing out every single flaw he can think of. He isn't exactly very nice about it either, he's rather blunt and to the point. Some of his nights while he's busy reading things online are spent also listening to idiots on youtube and dropping them happy little comments about what idiots they are while questioning them and their beliefs and such. He finds it a nice way to try and get them to open their eyes and see how wrong they and their personal beliefs are, and really he feels he's doing them a favor and helping society if he can open their eyes.
Blind Eye: He may not have rose tinted glasses on but he certainly doesn't see the real world for what it is either at least not where his friends, and family, are concerned. He's loyal to those close to him and sometimes that just blinds him to certain things. He won't not see the bad in them, until it's staring him in the face. He won't think the worst of them such as seeing them as back stabbers and such, as least not until it's too late. If two friends, or family members, get in a fight he won't see it as fighting, not right off the bat till something dramatic and drastic happens, he'll see it as teasing and joking between friends. Perhaps it's just that he doesn't want to see it? On some subconscious level he doesn't want to see them in the same way he sees the rest of the world? Because they are his friends and so they have to be different?
He doesn't like to get involved in fights between people, being dragged into all that drama? No, that simply isn't his thing, he doesn't know how to handle the drama for one and for two he's not good with the back stabbing and gossip and all the name calling and such - save that for the internet. Once things escalate to others taking sides and fighting Ian is sort to be stuck in the middle with everyone trying to tug him this way and that, both sides just wanting to grab up every person for their side that they can. These are all things he has no clue how to handle and so it leaves him all rather drained feeling. It's due to this, and wanting to avoid it all, that when such fights do happen he distances himself and gives all his those involved the cold shoulder till it passes over, let it all end how it wishes. He can't handle it, he doesn't need to emotional drain and stress.
The downside to this method of dealing with things is when people think it's his way of saying he doesn't care for them, or not as much as they thought he did. He has had friends accuse him of not being a true friend, not caring for them, and has been backed into a corner and put on thin ice with them (in an emotional sense) as he scrambles to right this slight against them that he didn't see. It's an emotional thing which has him a nervous, stomach tied in knots, shaking mess that needs to be off the thin ice with his friends. And despite this having happened in the past he still handles fights between people the same way.
Really, he wishes they were like his friends online.
