Why her raid leader had called her for a LAN raiding session, in the middle of the week, was beyond her. She'd arrived at his tiny appartment to find it covered in cords, overworked fans and seven desktops set up haphazardly around the kitchen. Over the next two hours, three laptops over heated (including hers), someone blue screened so hard their harddrive started to smoke, and half the raid group was intoxicated.
To be fair, most of the raid were either in new classes or specs, or were new raiders entirely. But by hour three they'd only downed two bosses, and Alex had the largest headache ever. She left fifteen minutes ago, laptop in her backpack, and vowed to never go to a midweek 'training session' again.
The short cut she'd taken to get home faster - one she'd taken many times mind you - suddenly turned into a few wrong turns and put her in the back alley junction of three buildings.
And she could swear something was moving in the shadows.

The Knight of Earth was on his usual patrol, though he had only just started out. He was near enough to the library still to be feeling a little complacent, in a way, in that it was very familiar to him and he did not run into trouble around the building all that often any more. Maybe he was making a difference, or maybe that was just how the dice were falling for now.
He was near the alley, but not near enough yet to notice the youma that was stalking its young, laptop wielding target.
It moved slowly, almost as if it was not moving at all, slinking through the shadows not like it lived in them, but like they lived off of it. They were its limbs, and extension of self, almost. It was dead silent almost, except when its dark claws tapped the ground at the end of its long, quiet foot steps.
And when it growled, which it did now.
The youma charged toward the civilian, before Camelot was drawing to the corner of the alley. He was close, but not close enough yet to know what was going on.

A chill ran up her spine at the growl. Was it a feral dog? Or cat? Alex stood frozen in the middle of the junction. She didn't think it was a stalker or someone out to mug her, but she wasn't sure if people who did that would growl. Tightening her grip on her backpack straps, she slowly turned around and looked for the beast making the sound.
It was that moment that the youma charged at her.
"What the heck is th--- Titans damnit!" she yelled in horror, then cursed as she tried to back away. Whatever the thing was, it wasn't your common dog or cat.
Her foot slipped on a puddle and she went down hard. She heard a sickening crack as her backpack hit the concrete and all the padding inside did absolutely nothing to protect the laptop. Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcraaaapppp she inwardly cursed, half for the broken laptop and half for the monster still coming at her.
"You can't have my heart! Get the hell off!" And with that, she snapped her foot out at the oncoming monster.

the_scowling_cat (If you quote me I'll see/remember to tag!) Camelot heard a yell and moved toward the sound. He was the kind of guy who reacted on instinct first, then considered how dangerous things might be. It was not usually the best system, as thinking before charging was usually a better idea.
He skidded around a corner and saw a girl hit the ground and a dark shape leap on top of her. A youma, he saw that clearly, and it was out for a kill. They cared little about how they got what they wanted: civilians were nothing but inconvenient bags that carried food.
Usually, they needed to be ripped open.
Camelot saw her land a solid kick to the monster's face, though it didn't dissuade the thing completely. It did give the youma pause, and that was enough time for Camelot to close the distance between them.
"Run! Run for cover, I'll try and keep its attention!" he yelled, then rethought it. "Hide behind me!"

Hah! Take that piece of sh-- oh god here it come again. And then suddenly. A man in medieval armor stood between her and the monster. She blinked up at him, eyes widened. People... did that? Wait. Hang on. She'd heard something about costumed people doing damage to the city. Was this one of those? But he was protecting her from the black thing with the claws.
"What th... do you usually run around in... full plate? How long did it take you to make that costume anyway?" she said rather calmly. The youma snarled and she jumped, scrambling behind Camelot. "What the hell are these things?!"
Things, because another slinked out of the shadows in front of her, growling. That's just... wonderful. Really. Alex pushed herself to her feet, doing the clique karate pose.
The youma in front of Camelot snarled and leapt for him, annoyed he got in the way of its prey.

Camelot did not think it was very good time to discuss his current state of dress. He knew it was a bit strange to see someone in full armor running around and acting like a knight, doing the whole saving the innocent bit.
He would let her marvel about it later, once there was no longer a monster trying to eat her.
As busy as he was with the first youma, he didn't even realize there was another one. He smashed his shield into the youma as hard as he could, trying to force it back. He'd fought enough to know that they each had their own levels of abuse they could take, but they all turned to dust in the end. He was hoping this wouldn't be one of the ones that could take a lot of hits.
He turned to see, a bit late, the youma that was going for Alex.
Well crap.

Terror, sweet delicious terror coursed through her veins. She wanted to run, she wanted to bolt, and damnit she wanted to never take this way home ever again. Anxiety gnawed at her stomach, and threatened to paralyze her like it did so many times. In a matter of moments she'd be a sniffling, crying eighteen year old unable to do anything to save herself.
And that made her mad. It made her furious to know that she was just going to lock up and be completely useless in her own defense. Her temper flared, locking her jaw tight and turning her knuckles white. She would not be made into a damsel in distress by a stupid monster with claws.
"Not. Today." She tightened the straps of her backpack and shifted her weight. She had absolutely no practice at fighting, but years of ballet had taught her something of balance. If only she had some kind of actual weapon though.
Then suddenly, there was a weapon. It popped into existence in front of her, pulsing with power that sent the youma snarling and cutting its advance off. It was a wooden mace of sorts, crafted like a weather vein.
Whatever, it would do. She charged forward, grabbing the mace out of the air. Power surged through her like a gust of wind and seemed to say hello. The transformation started at her feet and spun upwards like a tornado, swapping out her civilian clothing for an assassin outfit of subdued blues and greys. The outfit's signature symbol was that of Uranus.
The Page of Uranus didn't even pause to think how crazy this all was. She was going to beat the youma to a pulp for almost turning her into a useless pile of tears.

Camelot was completely distracted from his youma as he watched the girl power up. He had seen it happen a few times, and obviously experienced it personally at some point no matter how long ago it seemed now. But it was always startling, vivid, and beautiful in its way, though it brought terrible things with it.
This was a ticket into war, after all.
He stared at the Page of Uranus with wide eyes for a moment, trying to think of something to say, when he remembered he was in the middle of a fight. Remembered because his opponent slammed into him, chomping down on his arm, though it was well protected by his armor.
"Use your weapon!" He called to the Page, though that was probably very obvious advice. He struggled to disengage the youma that was clinging on to him, because it was too close for him to be able to use his shield very well. He managed to toss it away, moving to help defend the new Page. She was his priority, and he wanted to make sure she wasn't overwhelmed. Waking up in the middle of a battle was never easy.

In true Alex fashion she snapped back with a "That was the idea!" The rush of adrenaline that shot through her veins kept any "ohTitanswhatareyoudoingAlex" at bay as she charged the youma in front of her. With a yell, she slammed the wooden mace into the youma's face. It let out a cry of pain, it's head snapping to the side.
She slammed her foot into it's ribcage (or what she thought was its ribcage) and sent it flying into the wall with a kick. It hit with a sickening crack and exploded into dust.
Andronicus blinked at the explosion. That's one way to die, she supposed. She remembered the other knight after a moment, and turned to help him.
"Well, one's down." Way to state the obvious, girl.

Camelot couldn't blame her for snapping at him, and he hardly noticed. he was watching her with interest, and no small amount of worry, just wanting to make sure she could handle the fight.
The first fight could be a little overwhelming. He wished there was a nicer way for folks to awaken: throwing them into the heat of the battle was the worst. He understood that their powers appeared when they needed them the most but did that always have to be in the middle of a fight? It was magic, after all. It could probably swing being a bit early.
Or not.
He watched her fight, surprised her weapon could survive a blow like that and wondering if new knights got sturdier items these days. That made him feel old and he turned to his youma again, which was still chewing on his armor and not getting anywhere. He managed to free himself of it and swung his shield around, slamming into the thing's head and bursting it into dust.
"Well done!" he said with a laugh, looking at the new page with a bright smile. "Excellently done!"

Having finally a moment where things weren't trying to kill her, the Page looked down at herself and blinked. "Uh... why do I look like someone from Assassin's Creed.... Not that it's bad, mind you, just... where did my clothes go...?" she asked, looking up at the older man with curiosity. She pushed the hood off her head, feeling it fall with a tug of fabric onto her shoulders and back. Besides the draft of her middrift being bare, she was rather comfortable in her outfit.
"And I suppose... where'd the monsters come from?"

Camelot smiled at her, chuckling.
"Well, let's see. Your outfit is ah, based on your Wonder and the planet you represent, which is all stuff we can cover... a little later. Your clothes are still with you, you simply have to power back down to wear them. Always make sure there are no others around you before you do so, though. You can feel my aura, can't you? The uhm... new sensation that you haven't felt before. That's me. You can feel any powered being, good and bad. It's a good way to be aware of if you're alone or not, as well as just looking around."
He paused, hoping all the information wasn't overwhelming, though he was trying to make it seem simple.
"Just focus on what you were wearing before, on your 'normal' self, and you can return to that form." He took a breath, did a quick mental scan, then powered down as if to show her how it was done. A librarian stood where the knight had been previously, which was a bit of a step down, he imagined.
"The monsters are called youma. They're creatures of Chaos, an evil force that we are awakened to combat."

She listened quietly, green eyes going wide as the armor vanished from him, and a librarian was left in his place. She noticed the energy signature vanish as he powered down. She could barely feel other power signatures farther away if she concentrated on it. Andronicus remembered her clothing and felt the magic leave her as a normal gamer again.
"... Woah... it's like I've fallen into a video game..." she muttered, swinging her backpack around to check the damage. The laptop was shattered on one side, the entire plastic casing cracks and holes. The screen probably didn't survive either. "... But clearly it's real life..." Alex let out a heavy sigh at the loss of her laptop and returned her attention to the knight turned librarian.
"Youma... huh. So... what exactly have I gotten myself into by grabbing that mace?"

"Very real life. No saving and resetting if you need to try again, I'm afraid." He knew a little about video games, if only because he had found a pink Nintendo DS at the library and had been invested in some of the games there.
He smiled at her, then glanced around and hoped that no more youma would be attacking them. He always felt a little vulnerable, without his powers there to help him sense auras near him. It left him feeling like a target, sometimes, but he needed to stop being paranoid.
But not in a way that would leave him legitimately vulnerable...
"Well. You've gotten into a war, I'm afraid. Between Order, our side, and Chaos. The youma is made of Chaos, but they are created by the Negaverse, who have soldiers like we are, people with weapons and whose hearts are corrupted by Chaos. As knights, we defend the innocent, and, I hope, find a way to peace."

Alex listened quietly, nodded as he spoke to show she was following along. "Huh... So besides I guess protecting the civilians and our home, why else are we here? Are supposed to eradicate the Negaverse? I mean, that's probably a good thing right, but then our existence would be obsolete, if we're here solely because they are. Or vice versa really.
"So wouldn't that mean that the war is... well never ending? Both sides need the other. You can't have shadow with out light, and you can't have light without shadow." She tapped a finger to her lips in thought, head tilting back and forth as she thought. Not that she really mind she was in the middle of a war, but at the same time... if one side's existence was tied to the existence of the other, the only way to win would be to destroy themselves at the same time.
Hmmm, that was a good plot idea...
"Ah, sorry. I'm somewhat of a writer; I get very interested by the relationships between opposing forces or characters. It's a habit of mine," she said, scratching her chin in embarrassment. "As a Knight, what should I be focused on doing?"Lithia_Brandon Sorry! I totally thought I had replied!
