Rahima tentively jumped from a boulder downwards, slowly but surely making her way down into the Mistweaver Territory - the red pelted rogue had hoped to visit Ithibati, but now...
She stopped, viewing the small lush land below her. This had to be the border, right? This lower mountain eastern range. This perfect place of easily dug out scree and steady rock... Insinct told her her time was near.
Finding an outcrop, she make a shollow scrape under an overhang. Beggers can't be choosers and it was good enough for her; better than her firstborn's sandy public nest. Knowing she might have up to a day before the birth, she settled down and studied the wind moving the leaves on an old boabob tree below.

Ithi was wandering the border again, she did it regulary to keep watch for the pride. If she saw Nyek it was an automatic turn and tell Maji thing. Since her last encounter with him she had sorted her head out and her life, she was a mistweaver and that she would stay as.
While she was trotting along the border a scent hit her, one familiar but slightly different. She sped up a little, then a little more before her turquoise eyes rested on the red pelt of a female she recognized immediatly. "RAHIMA!!" She cried in delight and ran over to the femme. "Oh I am so sorry I didn't come back to get you, but Nyek caused problems here and I was told not to leave..." she paused for a breath and then looked at how Rahima looked. "Your pregnant!" She smiled happily, more cubs!

"Ithi!" As plump as she was, the rogue was on her paws swiftly. This beauty before her was Ithibati, that headstrong young thing she'd know ? How cubs changed and grew! An image of a snarling
"I'd sorry I didn't come before, sweetling, so many things held me up. Such as that...creature Nyekundu. I only hope these cubs won't bring others so much pain. No pain, beyond my birthpains soon."
She studied her friend, and continued timing the weak contractions in her mind. "Did you become a Mistweaver?"

Ithi walked close to the red lioness and nuzzled her while pushing her back to lay down. "Rest Rahima, please, I dont wish to see you hurt!" She smiled and tilted her head as she sat down next to the gentle lioness. "It is not your fault how that thing turned out. He was just wrong, maybe he hit his head when he was born!" She chuckled!
"A mistweaver I am! She smiled happily, hopefully you can be too! Maji isn't keen on Nyek but that is no reason to judge you I am sure you will be loved, but please rest you look exhausted!" She smiled and nuzzled Rahima again, she had always thought Rahima more of a mother then her own.

She almost growled at the younger female but it soon melted into a honeyed purr. Hit his head at birth indeed...something unrelated to her current litter stung, Rahima's heart perhaps. She still felt responsible for Nyekundu and that remark was cutting, somehow.
"I'll rest if you tell me how you've been? Good and bad, I wish to know as much as you're willing to tell me dear." But ah, she'd missed this girl. She nuzzled her back and sat down to wait.

Ithi smiled, "I have been ok, I got here and met a lion called Ramses then Laana arrived not long after. She and Ramses liked each other alot and are not mates and expecting cubs I think, but I am not sure about that. Either wat, Nyek followed and attacked Laana while Ramses had gone to get Maji. I was with Laana and didn't dare do anything because I knew Laana wouldn't like it, but I got the blame for it, or maybe I didn't was all really confusing!" She chuckled there and took a long breath. "Anyway since then I have met most of the pride members, I met a lioness who was pregnant but I am sure she has had her cubs though I haven't met her mate yet."
She paused now and smiled, "Thats about it!" She tilted her head playfully though she knew she couldn't play with Rahima as she was heavily pregnant! "What about you? How have you been?"

"If Nyekundu ever comes near me again..." Rahima did snarl softly then, something she rarely did outside the thrill of a good hunt; but damn that son of hers! She let the threat linger before calming down. She smiled at her dear friend.
"It's a goodly pride in numbers then, with so many pairs or possible ones, and with cubs on the way. I hope you prosper her too, Ithi. I don't know about me joining, however..."
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Ah ha! 1, 2,3, 4, 5! 1,2,3, 4 ,5. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... There was no doubt. The pace was quickening. Not too sharply but enough. "Ithi? Unless you plan on being my midwife, you might wish to go. I think I have less time than I thought"
Last time Rahima had had a bunch of rogues peeking in at her and her chose den-friend Laini. But her grey friend's daughter might be less partial to births as her mother.

Ithi smiled and ignored to comment about Nyek, better that way. "I am sure I will do fine and I would love it if you would stay....Rahima?" She could see the lioness was in pain and it was true she had never witnessed a birthing before but at the same time she wasn't going to leave a good friend when she was in pain.
"Er... no I will stay. You might need support or somthing.." She didn't really know what she was saying, she just watched as the red lioness had the contractions. She didn't say anything but sat next to Rahima's head, licking it occasionally. Oh she hated seeing others in pain, unless it was someone she didn't like.

"Don't worry...it's all natural and I doubt I'll have problems." She said this to reassure her worried looking companion as well as herself. Rahima settled herself and purred, trying to remain calm, turning her thoughts inwards, to her friends and daughter, her mates and these coming cubs. It was nice, actually, that Ithi was here.

The sun rolled round and it was an hour or so before the first cub came. Under a reddish sky a crimson cub was born - and as his mother licked him clean, she smiled with pride. Aside from his gorgeous black 'mane', he was her colours, but with markings more like her own mother's.
Picking the little male up gently, she moved him so he could feed and be kept warm; wondered if he'd have her eyes or those of his father. And began counting for the second...

Ithi watched the crimson girl give birth and to her it was a sight an a half. She had never seen it happen before and the cub, it was... so... small! She chuckled as she watched how it moved, "Wow I was like that once..." She couldn't believe she had been that small but she trusted she was.
The small cub mewed slightly as he was moved and then settled by the warm body of his mother. His eyes still kept firmly shut, the youngster was happy and content, that was for sure.
It was not such a long wait for the next cub to be born; half an hour at most, while the dusk descended on the mountainside. Rahima didn't know weither she was going to cry or not when she saw the white pelt...her own family, her past love, her once mate and her estaranged, deranged firstborn son...She nuzzled the young male into place however, loving him as much as his franternal twin.
Snuggling into the red fur of his mother and brother, the young one drank and was washed in turn. Happy enough with his lot for now.
Ithi smiled at the second cub, "What are you going to call them both?" She asked curiously tilting her head slightly.She hadn't ever seen a newborn cub and now she was looking at two of them! She watched them both and looked amazed. "You think I could have cubs one day Rahima?"
The little red cub squirmed as his brother met him but he settled down again calmly and happily
"...the firstborn, Ba...Nogea. And his brother....Sha...no, Ewansiha. Nogea and Ewansiha." She nodded. Two new names for two new lives. She disposed of the afterbirth efficantly and settled to lick the spotted coats of her sons. The baby spots would soon fade, of course. She purred - "You could Ithi. I just hope you find a loving mate first"
You again! The tri-toned cub mewed softly. This might not be the warm wet place they'd been before, but he remembered his littermate alright.
Ithi smiled as she watched, "Lovely names.. and yeah maybe one day..." She chuckled happily and looked outside the den for a while and then back at the crimson lioness and her two cubs, oh they were adorable!

Her den cleared and her sons born, Rahima laid her head down to rest. Ithi'd understand, surely...she was tired. The cubs'd feed themselves and probably sleep soon.
