User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Just This Once was exploring the plains today. He liked the wide, open space. He liked knowing that nothing could sneak up on him out here. He liked the sunshine that warmed the prairie grasses, and he liked to eat the sweet grass.

The Kiokote he met were an interesting lot. They loved to play games and wrestle and race. He liked those kinds of things too, but today he didn't feel like doing any of that. Instead, he wandered the grassland looking for sweet things to eat. Every once in a while he'd find a choice patch of grass, but he found them few and far between. So far nothing he'd eaten had seemed dangerous, but he knew little of the grasslands flora.

Stumbling upon a group of bushes, he decided here was a good place to rest. He bit off one of the spiny branches, filled with juicy red berries. Laying down on the soft grass, he munched idly at the fruits and soaked in the sunlight.

Not having him here was driving her crazy as it is! When she pulled her self from her thoughts, Distorting the Light found herself in the badlands, just on the edge where the plains meets the Swamp. She'd never been here before... The doe spat, annoyed.

"Seriously? Fine, I guess I'll just turn ba-- Hm?"

Something bright caught her eye; a mound of white, sprinkled with color, just like her. She tilted her head curiously, wondering what it was, but unable to approach.

Queen Kiriux
Kimeti technically aren't supposed to leave the swamp, so this is the best I could do. Sorry! Dx

No worries! I had totally forgotten about that, since I usually rp as other species, I'm sorry. <3

The wind shifted unexpectedly, and Just This Once caught the strange smell of the swamp. At first he didn't recognize it, since he'd spent only a little bit of time there, but he picked up his head and tried to spot the kimeti he scented. He spotted her almost instantly, a doe by the looks of it, white and dappled with a rainbow of colors similar to his. Intrigued, he stood up, and was about to to walk over before he remembered his manners.

He picked up what was left of the prickly branch of berries and carried it with him towards her. He set the branch down between them, and tilted his head in curiosity. " Hello there! Care for some berries? They're tender and sweet, if you avoid the pricklies."

And not just any kin, by the look of his horns; a Totoma, a mountain-dweller. She had never seen one of these. But she had heard stories. Mirage let her eyes follow his every step. Thick muscles rippled under a winter coast of white and color. Large horns loomed above his armored skull. Hooves cracked from a long journey.

Interesting...

Mirage let a charming smile fill her lips as he stood before her. He was young. Curious. Innocent. Her favorite type. And so, in a movement so subtle and smooth, the doe arranged her self in such a way to make her beautiful markings almost shimmer in the bright sun light.

"Why, hello. I've never seen something like you before. Are you new here?"

Queen Kiriux
Not a problem. c:

She gave him a glance that clearly meant she was sizing him up. It made him feel strange, though he didn't give it much thought. She was a swamp dweller all right, but more interestingly colored than the few others he had met. It was odd, and intriguing that they had similar markings. He thought it was like looking at himself, if he had been born a kimeti instead.

She moved then, and the sunlight sparkled off those beautiful markings. She gave him a beguiling smile, and he smiled back at her. She spoke softly to him, and he found himself eager to please and reply. She was very nice, and friendly.

" Yes, sort of. I'm a Totoma," he said, though she probably had already figured that out. "I came from the mountains, but I like to explore a lot. I've been to the swamp a few times but... It's wet."

He didn't really like the wet, but he figured she didn't mind it. Most of the swampdwellers didn't even really seem to notice it. " I'm Just This Once! What's your name?"

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The rainbow doe let a light, bubbling laugh flow from her lips, "Don't like the wet, you say? But what of the snow? That's wet and cold." Mirage grinned, curling and uncurling her tail in the way she's seen so many young does do, "But that wouldn't bother a strong buck like yourself, would it? And a Totoma, at that! Impressive!" She cooed.

Her eyes left his momentarily, orange orbs flitting from one color to the next as they flowed over his thick, white pelt. They were oddly...alluring. She wondered if this is what others felt like upon gazing at her own spectrum.

"Past the Array." The lie slipped past her tounge before she could catch it. She hadn't used that name since... Pain and surprise flickered in her eyes, but vanish without a second thought. "But you can call me Spectra, should you choose." She batted her lashes subtly, her old lies falling beautifully into place.

There was something strange about this doe, thought Just This Once. But he couldn't quite pinpoint what it was, and he found that he didn't care to think too much about it. She was alluring, saying all the right things, and piquing his curiosity. He quite liked her, though he couldn't have said why. It could be because of her mysteriousness, or her shining, glossy fur...

"The snow is... different though. It's cold, but not really wet until it melts, or until you get some place warm. " If Totoma could blush, he would have blushed at her next comment. He was pretty strong,
if he did say so himself. And Totoma were the best type of kin. They were strong, fearless, and well adapted to the harshest of conditions. He formed a smile as he looked her over. She was smart and beautiful. What a nice doe!

"A lovely name, for a lovely doe." He swished his tail this way and that, admiring her again. He was pretty sure she was flirting with him, though he wasn't quite sure what he should do about it.

"Why, thank you," She placed a subtle, hesitant pause here, a curious, wanting gaze there. He was hooked, she could feel it, but how to use him? She would bed him, of course, making her leave in the dead of night. But was there anything else she wanted to milk from this youngling? She decided against it, unsure of how far she could push one so much larger than herself, "So, Mountain-dweller, would you care for a tour of the area? Perhaps, I can show you a dry place where we could get...better acquainted?" Her smile is a perfect balance of alluring and mysterious as she batted her lashes and stroked her leg with her tail ever so slowly, "What do you say? Just This Once?

She was a mysterious girl, and Just This Once definitely liked that. He could sense there was something a little... strange, maybe untruthful about her, but he didn't sense tha the was in any danger from her, so he ignored the nagging little feeling. She was nice, pretty, and he was sure she was flirting with him. It was his lucky day! Though his flirting could use some polishing, he figured she would be (mostly) forgiving if he stumbled with his compliments a little.

" I would like that," he smiled, tilting his head towards her. She was interesting, and so kind! He didn't like the swamp much, but for her, he would do just about anything. And, she'd promised to find a mostly dry place! He was liking this more and more. Maybe he would get to know her, and she would like him. Maybe she already liked him? He found himself confused, but pleased, and ready to follow the doe into the swamp. Or anywhere.

The way she said his name made him wonder for a second, if their meeting would be just this once. There was something mysterious about her, and he got the feeling that it might be. He didn't let it worry him, though. There were many interesting kin to meet, and the world was a big place. And maybe he would be wrong, and they would be good friends and see each other all the time. He doubted it, though.

It was then, Mirage felt a...something in the back of her mind. A tittering voice offering a warning. But she paid it no mind for there was nothing that she was more sure of in her entire life than that she was meant to use her ability to manipulate others. And that was what she was doing, was it not?

She batted any instant of a doubt away with her long eye lashes and a coy smile. The doe turned, peeking over her shoulder, curling her tail in an enticing way.

"Follow me."

He was interested in being led around the swamp by this pretty doe. Just This Once had never really received a tour of the place, and mostly just wandered around it until he was tired of being wet and muddy. And dirty. Though he usually didn't mind being dirty, the mud clung to his fur in uncomfortable ways, and weighed him down. Plus, it made him look slightly less attractive.

He followed Mirage into the swamp, carefully picking his path with grace unlike his bulky form should afford. He tried to concentrate on not getting bogged down in the unforgiving swamp, but every once in a while he noticed she looked back at him and gave a sweet smile or flip of her tail at him. She was so alluring! It was amazing to him that this doe didn't have an entire flock of males following her around for her affection. He held his head up higher as he thought about it. She was being nice to him!

" Thank you for your guidance," he managed to say.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Mirage could not help the grin that spread upon her lips every time she looked away from her newest catch. She was back and better than ever, it seemed, and that fact pleased the rainbow-clad doe. So much in fact, that she was almost considering allowing the buck to make the first move. Ah, what fun! She'd missed this, truly.

All while her schemes slithered through her mind, thinking of how and where she would take this buck, never once did the doe allow her hooves, as white as a virgin snow, touch the much that covered most of the swamp ground.

"Step where I do, my dear. It would be such a shame to spoil such a luscious coat with grime." She fawned over her shoulder as she flitted about on dainty hooves.

Where was she leading him? To a place most fitting for a Totoma like himself, of course. There was a part of the swamp that was near the mountains that created the shadow that was the badlands. Luckily, they weren't far and soon, the ground became more and more solid and rocks could be found more and more often.

At last, she found it, one of her old rendezvous from when she was young; a great tree had uprooted during a storm, pulling it's vast root system partially out of the ground. It hung over the dry ground like a canopy, with thick tendrils of vines and roots making their way back to the earth. It was large enough for two comfortably and the floor was lined with soft moss dotted with flowers.

"Ah, perfect. A wonderful place to get to know one another don't you think? And it's dry even in rain!" She forced a giggle, waiting to see how the buck would react.
