Jogging seemed to be the way every healthy person on the TV kept themselves fit and strong. He saw it in movies, where two people often met on a run and continued toward some funny and romantic end. He saw it on television shows, were strong leads were talking to each other about a case while running side by side. He saw it in commercials, when water companies tried to show which flavored water was better for everyone. Jogging, sometimes slowly and always with a music player of some kind, was clearly the most popular way to get strong.
And probably the most effective. Why else would they use it all the time as an example? It had to be popular for a reason, after all.
Grant was so sure of this that he was trying to run each morning. Of course, two times now he had not gotten up early enough to consider it a morning run, but he was getting better at not sleeping through his alarm. It was hard to patrol at night and then get up early the next day! part of making a schedule was creating one that did not just sound good on paper, but worked in execution as well. It was a balancing act.
This morning, though, he had managed to get out of the house on time and was jogging at a slow clip through the empty streets. He had his music on, though he was playing it low so no one might hear it when he passed them. he did not want to disturb anyone else, after all. And it was still loud enough for him to enjoy the songs for what they were. He hummed to himself as he trotted along.
In fairness, he was not sure how far he was supposed to run or for how long, or how fast he was supposed to go. He was just doing what he saw on TV, which was, he should had supposed, slowed down and romanticized to make it more appealing to watch. Sweating and panting and struggling to keep a pace was not really something they needed for ratings.
Whenever he reached a street corner he jogged in place, bobbing from one side to the next and waving at cars that honked at him. Sure, they were actually just honking at him for looking silly, but he never thought badly of people and certainly did not consider something like that. He just thought the few cars on the road were very friendly.
Jogging was definitely something he could get into, though, he decided as he circled back and jogged his way back home. His heart was not beating very fast and he did not feel very tired, which must have meant that he was actually already good at this and it was clearly something he could stick to!
It was a very exciting discovery.
