Crane was born in the middle ages in medieval England. His family was nobility. His profession was a doctor, of course that time, doctors were the hack/slash, lobotomy type, due Crane's nobility, he could practice in primitive medicine. Over the time; he lived in luxury, a front a doctor, while his true identity was a sadistic madmen who abducted people, and kept them in his castle's basement, a torture chamber for use in what he called his experiments. He started small, abducted a few people here and there.
Crane had an exceptional spiritual pressure. This attracted the attention of a hollow, Clear-Sin. Clear-Sin became his partner as he was interested by his modus operandi, and helped him with what he called his divine mission. With partner, he experimented on many people, as he traveled from town to town. Eventually, this attracted the attention of shinigami. While in the middle of an experiment, the shinigami arrived, and fought Clear-Sin. The fight ensued, as Crane watched with interest. The fight wore it's way through the manor he was currently staying. The manor crumbled, and fell on the three of them. The Shinigami won the fight, and Clear-Sin was slain, but it left the Shinigami was injured in the fight and has to retreat.
Crane stayed tied to his castle, reviewing the details of hollows that Clear-Sin gave him. In his castle. In no time, he was a demi-hollow wishing to become a full-blown hollow to continue his experiments. He ripped out his chain of fate with a lot of will. This transformed him into a hollow, a strong willed one. He joined the world of Hueco Mundo. Once he turned, he started his ladder towards the top.
Over the course of the next thousand years, he carefully rose the ladder, only going after the small fish ensuring that he will stay alive. Eventually, after his trek, becoming as powerful as he could. He grew bored with it, and ripped off his mask, evolving to the next stage. His pursuit of science was a true one, he experimented with his body. He replaced all his bodily organs, and blood, except for his brain.
