Aukai had never been that graceful. He'd fallen enough as a cub that on more than one occasion someone had accused him of just wanting attention. They were partially right in that he did like when all eyes were on him; however, he wanted his pridemates to laugh with him, not at him.
The tsunami had changed his outlook on many things. Not over night, but quickly and for good. He'd matured beyond making a joke of everything and he didn't go near the ocean anymore. Instead, he tarried by the river day in and day out, leaving only to hunt.
He'd found a starfish in the drinkable water at some point that morning. Peculiar.
Some things, Aukai could change about himself. Other things, well...
He leaned forward to scoop up the critter, slipped on a stone, and with a great splash!, fell face first into the water.

 Galjoen was enjoying a quiet morning. He was well rested, and trotted on for a walk by the river. He started at the mouth that was gaping into the ocean, wide and open like a yawn spilling water into the vastness. He enjoyed just walking, if he was honest. It was nice - refreshing - to take in the thick salty smell of the ocean.
He was looking out for water when he spotted one of his siblings. He gave a grin - he hadn't seen any of them since the morning - a brief meeting before they all set out for the day to do their jobs.
He opened his mouth to call out to his brother before the other slipped on the stones. He gave a small chuckle and hurried towards the other. "Aukai, are you alright?" he peered into the water that held the other lion. It wasn't too deep - just a poor of water where the rain had collected over time, but that didn't mean Aukai wasn't injured. The other was so clumsy sometimes...

Clumsy, yes, but without injury. Unless you counted wounded pride. Aukai climbed to the shore. He righted his stance and afterwards gave a rapid shake of his head to clear the water and sand from his mane and eyes. When his vision was no longer obstructed (his messy fur was a lost cause), he turned to his brother.
"Just fine." If Aukai was at all annoyed with this bad luck streak, his voice did nothing to convey it. On the contrary, he sounded affable as ever. "How's the day fare so far?"

"I'm glad you are alright then," Galjoen stared for a moment, looking his brother over just to be sure everything was well and no injury was seemingly missed. He would hate to see anyone in his family injured at all, and he just had to be sure, no matter how many times Aukai tripped over his paws or fell into things. But he seemed to be unharmed so he did not want to worry himself. "All's been well for me so far. And yours?" Aukai did not seem to be troubled by the mishap, but it could not hurt to ask.

Galjeon's initial assumption was correct: Aukai was no worse for wear. He cast his gaze out toward the ocean and remarked, "The sea seems calm today." So too was he. "I found a starfish," he said next, and he nodded at the creature. "But I don't think it belongs here."

Galjoen tilted his head. "No, probably not." He looked closer at it, and stepped forward. "Would you like to find a place for it to go?" He asked. He was sure they could make it to the sea with the sea-star without much of a mishap. Maybe if Aukai didn't fall into any other puddles or rock pools. "It shouldn't take too long. It was probably washed this high with the tide."
