Vayu stood looking up at the heavens. It was a beautiful clear night and all of the stars were shining brightly. There wasn't a cloud in sight. He followed the path of the milky way with his eyes. He thought it might be a path to somewhere, but where he did not know.
He seemed to be longing for many things on this night. He longed for his home and family and he longed to feel the wind beneath his wings. But he had made vows, promises to himself, herd, and tribe. He was on this journey to learn and grow. He knew following ones desires wasn't always the best course of action and he needed to discipline himself against his desires.
He had told himself an excellent way to get to know the earth mother was to keep his feet on the ground and that was what he intended to do for one moon cycle. So far he had managed to go for 5 sun cycles. Tonight the desire to fly seemed to pull at him with an intensity he did not expect.
Vayu let out a sigh and laid himself on the ground. Maybe that would help him from taking off into the sky. He moved his focus from the sky to the earth beneath him. The grass was cold and the dirt under that seemed hard. It didn't feel too comforting at first. He nibbled at the grass in front of him. It tasted sweet and delectable. He was grateful that he had something so tasty and nourishing right here. That thought made him be grateful for the ground and earth. It made his longing go away and comfort replace it.

Faelan walked slowly through the grass. He didn't like being out in the open fields, there was no cover against the sky. He liked those that flew, of course, he liked any horse, but he'd never met another, and one thing Faelan hated about being out in the open was getting surprised and startled. He had to travel through the field on the way to the river however, so he sped up into a quick pace.
He hurried across the field and reached halfway before he stopped. Before him was another horse, he'd never met another. This one even had wings.
Faelan tilted his head. "What are you doing on the ground?" he asked. His voice was a bit dark from disuse. Faelan slowly tilted his head as he looked the other over.

Vayu turned his head to the soft sound of hooves approaching. He had not seen another Soquili since he grounded himself. He had thought that while not flying he would meet others more often. He did not expect to have gone this long. So he was pleased to have another come along.
As the other stallion came into view Vayu noticed that he seemed to be carrying a axe. He was a bit startled and found himself getting quickly up, just in case this Stallion meant him harm. He had never met another Soquili whom meant him harm but he was still cautious but did not want to be rude either. "Hello, I'm Vayu," He said introducing himself while taking in the stallion. "I was on the ground trying to be closer to the earth spirit. It is something I don't do enough. But it his my goal to understand all of the spirits and my focus now is on the earth spirit."
Vayu wondered if he had perhaps intruded on this stallions territory as he was not familiar with the ways of most Soquili outside of his tribe. The stallion did seem upset to Vayu though. "Do you live in this area?" Vayu asked, hoping to ease his fears and learn more about the stallion before him.
