If there was one thing you could be certain of at Trine is that whenever their was a big decision there would be bets made on it. When there were eggs on the sands there were bets. When there was a flight coming up there were bets and now that it was time for Trine's Theta clutch to choose their wings you could be sure as shards there would be bets on that too. However being a rather seasoned gambler herself Hekate already knew which bets were stacked on which wing for her. It didn't take a clever man to notice the affection between Trine's latest silverrider and Malvren's prized bronze Wingleader. In fact after the Queenflight the two had been closer then ever doubly so with the theft of the eggs. The return of two such newly hatched dragons having been paid for with Devith's blood. So it seemed to most rather clear which wing the rather wild pair would be ending up.
Which made it all the more curious why Hekate was currently lingering in the dininghall awaiting a certain wingleader to finish his meal that she might catch him by the door as he walked out. Despite her rather vibrant red hair the woman had a rather impeccable knack for blending into the evening shadows of the last lingering rays of light from the dwindling sun. Perhaps this was more so for how incredibly still she could hold, just the slight shifting of her bright amber gold eyes giving away she was there as she observed in silence those who passed by as they exited mentally counting off each wingleader as they went. Personally Hekate had never really liked the front door into the dininghall, having always preferred even after she'd impressed to take the drudges side entrance and slip in that a way to eat with her friends. Most of her meal time now though was occupied with gossip about wing assignments and the new weyrlings.

If D'lin had known that someone was waiting on him - he probably would have eaten faster. He had never been one to keep someone waiting like that..but the truth of the matter was he hadn't even noticed Hekate by the door and even if he had there was no reason to think that she would be waiting for him. Hekate was going to end up in Z'fer's wing, everyone knew that. If he was a betting man, he definitely would have put some marks on it. And so the bronzerider finished his meal at a leisurely pace, taking advantage of the relatively quiet time to enjoy his food and listen quietly to the conversation taking place around him. Predictably they tended to flicker between the newest hatchlings and the riders soon to be choosing wings.
He could really only linger in the hall for so long however..the duties of the day awaited and there was,as always, much to do. Full and content he took his plate to the front and handed it over to the drudge there with a smile before heading to the door. It had always seemed rude to leave it on the table for them to come and fetch - but that was probably just his mothers strongly enforced upbringing talking. Stepping aside to let someone pass by on their way in he didn't even see Hekate standing there as he went to leave.

Silent as a shadow Hekate detached herself from the door picking up her pace to match the brinzerider in front of her. "Would you mind if I walked with you Wingleader D'lin?" She asked tilting her head up to offer him a small smile as she came to trot beside him her pace lengthening to match his own.
"I wanted to get your advice on something~" Hekate continue glancing up at the other rider.

D'lin nearly jumped out of his skin when Hekate suddenly appeared beside him. "Hekate!" He exclaimed in surprise "I didn't see you there, where did you even come from?" He questioned, glancing around as though she had appeared from some mysterious hidey hole before her question finally processed completely. Slowing down so that she wouldn't have to rush to keep up he nodded. "Sure, I was just heading to pick up my riding jacket. Whats up?"

Blinking up at him the young rider tried not to grin at the Wingleaders surprise. She really hadn't been trying not to scare him, but then again she tended to unnerve a lot of people even on a good day. "The door. Just like you sir." She answered rather simply though the bright feline like smile that accompanied it hinted there might be a bit more to her answer then was given.
"Well first I wanted to apologize if I came off as rude at the lesson sir. I learned shortly upon coming to the Weyr that people are rarely as they appear and I wanted to test you to make sure you were telling the truth. I was considering joining Kleos's wing, but during our attempt to retrieve the eggs she proved to be well. . .not the kind of person I thought she was." Hekate continued with a frown as she glanced up at the stars. Devith was curled up next to their still shared Weyr half asleep. She could feel his mind in the back of hers as he dreamed of wherries and flying.
"Devith and I. . .well we know we're not the easiest pair to get along with and that we're different. We think different, act different~" And she paused glancing down at herself. "Dress different." She added before shrugging her shoulders.
"We don't really fit in so we choose to stand out. Of course then there's the problem of finding a Wing to join that will realize that while maybe we're not always right that we can still bring a good deal of work and cleverness to the table~" Hekate continued keeping her eyes ahead of her occasionally glancing out of the corner of her eyes when D'lin wasn't looking to catch his reaction.

D'lin had been fairly certain no one else had been near the door when he left..but then had hadn't really been paying attention now had he? Well he couldn't be blamed for that, people rarely paid attention in places which were safe and familiar...which is why,of course, pranksters were so very successful in scaring people when the chance arose. He doubted that Hekate had snuck up on him on purpose..but she didn't look to apologetic about it either, rather she seemed like she kind of enjoyed it. He shook his head a bit but smiled. "Guess I wasn't paying attention at the time." He stated before she started talking again, patiently letting her finish before he commented on anything.
"First of all - there is no need to apologize for asking a question, even if your question had ulterior motives..it was still a valid question." He might have aid something about her being that paranoid about other people but he didn't...given the way things had been going since the revolutions maybe the rest of them needed to be a bit more paranoid.
"Kleos can be..." And he paused slightly as though searching for the right word "Intense..but she's got the Weyrs best interests at heart." No she wasn't a bad person she was just well...intense. There wasn't really any other way he could think of to phrase it. "But if you don't feel it's a good match for you anymore then there is nothing wrong with that, it's probably good that you got the chance to experience working with her before you made your decision." He was honestly quite surprised that she had even thought about joining Kleos wing...wasn't she going to join Z'fer's? According to all the odds that was a done deal. And none of that explained why she was talking to him..unless. Well..that was an intriguing thought and he paused slightly be fore stopping to ask her "Hekate..are you trying to ask if you can join my wing?"

Hekate nodded considering her words carefully as she walked alongside the Wingleader then. "I'm sorry I startled you sir, but you would be interested to know just how easily surprised most of the Weyr is. You wouldn't be the first person I accidentally got the jump on." Hekate replied with a small worried frown. Even after all the work she'd been trying to do the Weyr was still so vulnerable. The egg theft had proven that much to be more then true. It seemed like everyone was content to just sit back and ignore what was out there. Pretending they weren't under attack in vain hope it would just go away. Most didn't seem to realize the revolution hadn't, wouldn't, and couldn't fight fair and certainly weren't above using barbaric tactics.
"I used to really respect Kleos. She's not only a female Wingleader, but an atypical one at that. I wanted to be like her. She's different, but I didn't really like that she seemed to believe rumors over what she saw right before her eyes." She continued with a frown, but shrugged it off. "Either way that's over and done and~" She trailed off as D'lin beat her to the question she had been about to ask.
Slowly a delighted little smile spread across her lips her gold eyes seeming to light up at his words. "And that would be why I want to join your wing D'lin. You read between the lines."

"Just D'lin is fine. No need to be formal." He responded with a smile. "Being called Sir makes me think I'm my father or something." He added with a slight laugh which quickly sobered as she continued talking. D'lin was not entirely sure what had happened during the mission to fetch back the eggs - his own group had retrieved them fairly easily..but there had been rumors that the other groups had not been so lucky. It was apparent however that something had happened between Hekate and Kleos and if they could not work together during such a mission it was unlikely they would be able to fly together with any sort of success. In any case it didn't seem like it was something he needed to stick his nose in, as Hekate pointed out it was over and done with now.
"Your more then welcome to fly with me, we'd be delighted to have another in our ranks. Do you have any concerns or questions about the wing?"
