LOCATION: Amityville Gym (outdoors, training course)
STATUS EFFECT: The biweekly fitness trials are about to take place, and as first years, Canon and Agsilved are extremely behind, to the point where they have to take make up fitness courses. The goal today as dictated by none other than Gym Tyrant Red? Do a three-legged race through the Gym teacher's most beloved course, which involves:
- Both characters tying one of their legs together. NO FLYING INVOLVED OR YOU'RE DISQUALIFIED. NO CHEATING. This is a PHYSICAL EXERCISE KIDDOS.
- Running through the mud course. The first part of the course is a mud course. Both players must roll a 6-sided die and roll even to pass through. If they do not both roll even they end up falling flat on their faces in the mud and taking the other player. For example: Bob rolls a 1. Fail. Retry for both. Bob rolls 2, but Sue rolls 1. Fail. Retry for both They have to try again. Bob rolls 4 and Sue rolls 4. They pass through!
- Swimming through the slime pool. Both players must swim through the slime pool, but the slime pool is poisonous and saps their HP. Roll 6 6-sided dice at the same time. For each even number you roll, you take - 5 HP of your total HP. If you dissipate you have to start ALL OVER AGAIN WITH YOUR PARTNER.
- Avoiding the Land Shark. The giant land shark can only be defeated by the power of extreme coordination. Both players must set aside their differences and defeat the land shark once and for all - BY RUNNING FOR THEIR LIVES. Roll 10d10. If any player rolls a 1, they are EATEN BY THE LAND SHARK OH NO. At least you tried.

BONUS CONDITION: Continue playing until you finally get to the end and you will pass your fitness test. Congrats!! Otherwise you just get a gold star that says You Tried.

Canon Indy scampered full tilt down the corridor, around several corners, barely missed colliding with other students, and made a last mad cap dash through the doors to the outside training field. She was grinning all the way. Red had set her a fitness trial! Red, she of the amazing cloak, and even more amazing behemoth form. Canon was beyond happy to execute any trial the strong Professor set for her, certain that it would only help Canon grow stronger.

The note had mentioned something about another student attending as well. Canon had been too excited to read through the details, she'd just exploded out of her dorm, and made straight for the field. Now that she was here, though, and she couldn't see anyone else yet, she took a moment to regain her breath, and take more time to read through the note.

Her antennae tilted quizzically. What was a three-legged race?

Though unbeknownst to her, Agsil did not possess the same energy and thrill as her to-be partner. Instead, she took a more casual pace towards the field. Oh sure she'd get there in time, but there was an inward spitefulness about the whole situation. Extra fitness courses? Sure, why not. Even she could see them as useful in the long run.

Banned from flight? Not so much. The dragon would love to argue how the act of flying, never mind with additional weight, was completely within the bounds of "physical exercise."

For her anyways.

The other participant could figure something else out. Likely a free ride wouldn't help their grade.

Needless to say, the note she'd received had gotten a few snarls in response as she'd read through it back in her dorm. But there she was, wings tucked against her body and thumbs locked to give a more "cape" effect. There, she'd behave and not even fly to the field. Of course, for all she knew, the Professor could decide to disqualify her for that alone. And she'd likely not find out about it until after already doing the rest of the fitness course... ugh.

Considering there was only one other ghoul on the field, Agsil quickly took that to mean she was her partner in this assignment. Three-legged race. Tying one of their legs together. A simple concept from the note. But... Would height be an issue here? Already she was trying to figure out how to position her wings to make sure she didn't hit the girl so close.... It wasn't like she'd ever tried something like this before. Would she be disqualified if she used her wings to balance herself if needed..? Too many questions.

"Greetings. I assume you're here for the fitness course as well." A simple bow was given towards Canon, Agsil's wings extending out slightly to her sides in the process. "I am Agsilved." Straightening, she frowned slightly as she looked towards the course. "Have you ever participated in a... three-legged race before?" Things would be so much more straight-forward if she didn't have to be tied to someone else for this...

Canon had a bit of a conundrum. The beautiful, winged ghoul bowed to her in greeting, which was the first time anyone had done so to the Skark, and she wasn't sure how to respond. Should she do the handshake thing, return the bow, or just greet her as Skarks normally greeted others? She finally settled on a compromise, bowing, and flicking her tail over her back and head towards the other ghoul. She halted the strike just before it would've hit Agsilved, and straightened, tail returning to a relaxed back and forth swing behind her.

"Well met, Agsilved!" she replied, beaming. "I'm Canon Indy! And, no, I've not participated in one before. Are we supposed to use our tails as a third leg? I think mine could support my weight for awhile..."

She looked doubtfully back at said limb, twisting it into a test coil, and then looked back Agsilved in puzzlement. She definitely didn't know how to proceed.

It had only been as Agsil had straightened that she caught sight of the movement above her, eyes narrowing as her body stiffened. Had... she just seen that right? Had that other girl... tried to strike her? Why hadn't she? Why had she moved like that? Her upper lip began to curl, but she smothered the hostile reflex, taking a quick breath that was mainly visible in how her shoulders moved. She hadn't fully seen what had happened. Only caught a glimpse. To attack another under such circumstances was... unwise, to say the least.

...to state a fact, however...

"Strike me, and I assure you I will strike back. So unless you are interested in sparring..." Okay so that wasn't the 'state a fact' angle she'd actually been going for. Her voice was seething, arms crossing across her chest. The other seemed... frail. Would a single eye cause depth perception issues? Though that stinger could prove hazardous, depending on what its purpose was...

Closing her eyes briefly to bring herself back to the matter at hand instead of going through a plan of attack, her temper continued to boil. Evident by how her tail lashed behind her, coiling and snapping low to the ground. With how cheery the ghoul was, this Canon Indy, after what Agsil believed to have seen... she was confused. And annoyed, for a multitude of reasons. "No, that isn't--" The word came out as more of a snap than intended, so again the dragon took a deep breath before trying again in a more neutral tone. "My understanding of a three-legged race is for pairs to tie together one leg each. The 'third leg' to their other two, free, legs. They must... work together to cross the finish line."

Great. They hadn't even started this and already she was angry.

"Strike me, and I assure you I will strike back."

The statement created a number of mixed feelings in the Skark. The first being an inner Well, duh! that was mostly the product of her Skark-ness. The entire point of her greeting was to show that she had the ability to fight, was willing to fight, but left the actual decision of whether there would be a fight to the other party. Every Skark knew this, but Canon was the only Skark at Amityville. The second feeling was a wave of gratitude that here was someone else at Amityville who got it.

"So unless you are interested in sparring..."

Okay, now she was even more confused! Agsilved sounded angry, but she'd just practically invited Canon to spar with her! Canon quickly replayed her greeting with Agsil in her head, mimicking the movements with her hands. Agsil bowed. One hand bowed. Canon bowed, and flicked her tail. Other hand bowed and thumb made a jabbing movement. She hadn't hit Agsil, she was certain of it! So Agsilved couldn't be rebuking her for hitting her during the greeting. Why was she angry then? Maybe she thought Canon had, and that they should be focusing on the assignment instead of sparring? Then why the invitation to spar?

At this point, Canon's mind had tied itself into a quivering knot, so the interruption of Agsil explaining the proper procedure for a three legged race was a welcome one. She snapped to attention during the lecture, the picture of attentiveness.

"Oh!" Canon exclaimed, and immediately stepped up to Agsil and pressed her leg against the other ghoul's. Relieved to be focusing on something productive, she smiled up at Agsilved. "Like this?"

She looked back down at their legs and realized it wasn't quite right. Agsilved and the note had mentioned tying their legs together. Canon hadn't brought any rope. She thought over what she could do for a moment, and snapped her fingers as an idea occurred to her. She stepped away, and unfastened her skirt. She matter of fact-ly stepped out of them. Had any gnomes been hoping for a peep show, they were disappointed by a perfectly decent pair of red plaid shorts beneath the skirt.

Canon picked the skirt up, and slashed it once, twice, and a third time, splitting it into two long strips. She triumphantly held them up, and stepped back over to Agsilved. A moment later she and the other ghoul were firmly tied together.
