~ Room Seals ~

    User ImageUser Image
  • Shitei Fuuin [Designation Seal]
    Rank: C
    Type: Fuuinjutsu | Room
    Size: 6”
    Description:
    Designation seals have no effect of their own, and are instead used to map out the area of effect of other seals which are made to work with them. By placing a designation seal at set points and intervals, they channel the effect of a seal, creating a field of effect. These are the basis for all barrier and area effect seals. While they also have no activation cost of their own, the price of a room seal increases for every marker used.

    Designation seals must be placed within ten feet of each other to connect, and at least four must be used to create any effect. Only the outer surfaces of the room need to be marked however. (For an example of how seal layout works, see images to the right.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As can be seen from the above, room seals are those that directly affect a wide area. Barrier seals are the most common under this banner. Now, I could easily throw together several seals for this category myself, and I do still plan to. However, I often find that others, even if they don't even fully understand the concepts I work around, can put forth some very good ideas, even if they don't intend to at all. So, I'm throwing this out here for any interested in the sealing arts.
If you have an idea for a room seal you think I should make, or want to make yourself, throw it out in this thread. Any suggestions I like I will surely include in some fashion, and any fully made ones you put up will be judged as if they were customs. (Note that any posted in this thread WILL be added to the guildwide list. If you want a personal one, put it in the customs thread.) I'll be updating the list in the first post as any are completed and added to the lists as well.
Could you create a temperature seal, a air pressure seal, and maybe a gravity seal? I think those three combined could be used to create one heck of a training room.
I would think so, but you would need a normal seal to channel that affect.
For example, using the Push seal and Designation seals in combination to create a trap that forces everything on that surface to fly away...potentially into another trap.
By the way Hinote, your seal concepts are just another reason I am itching for bloodlines to be opened so Enro can be forced to lose his elemental affinities and take up Sealing as his secondary element!
Quick question though, exactly how does the price increase for the seal. Since the tags have no activation cost does the number increase the cost of the 'base effect' tag that is being channeled?
@Timmy: I plan to create some to similar effect, yes. I'm actually thinking of modifying it slightly so that some regular seals can be used as room seal effects, though I might go with just making room seal versions of them instead.
@Martin: Your example would actually work fine without being a room. Though if compatibility between those was added you could have a designated area that can't be entered due to the effect. Further though, this thread is for suggestions on said "Normal" seals that can be made into rooms.
Currently the idea is to have the price increase per tag, though it might be upgraded to per number of tags. I'm actually also considering reducing the minimum to three instead of four, thus allowing for flat panes instead of contained areas.
Edit: Sealing isn't considered an element. Everyone can learn up to D rank. (Reduced from C rank with various benefits since it didn't make much sense really.) You might be able to do that with a talent though instead. I dunno how far you could get in the stuff since it's usually highly profession based. (Of course you could switch to sealing spec when we release the profession updates and be all set. XD)
Slightly off topic to the original thread basis, but I've decided it would be a good idea to expand the thread purpose to get some input on my own plans.
If you've looked into sealing, I'm sure you must have seen the Catalyst Seal. It's a pretty awesome seal that can do just about anything, basically, if you stick it in the middle of a seal, it can dictate how the entire seal works.
In other words, it's a tad OP. I'm considering removing it and breaking it up into parts for other seals. Does this sound like a good idea? If so, what purposes and thus other seals could be made to compensate? I don't really want an end all choice for every seal like the Catalyst, since it's often more fun to devise larger more complicated arrays to get the job done with other seals.
~~~

From this point forward, consider this thread as an input thread on everything sealing related. Think one of the seals should be removed? Post and let me know why. Notice a "Bug" in one that needs to be fixed? Let me know. Think entire chunks of the profession should be replaced with newer, better ones? I'm already doing that, but I'd love the extra viewpoint.

And just for fun, I'll release the occasional sneak peek at new seals or versions of seals I have in the works here for you to see. Extra points if you can come up with a cool way of using one or more of the seals I show in an array.

~~~
Edit: What do you suppose this is?
Edit2: And of course I now realize that I screwed it up in one spot... Points to whoever finds the mistake.
