The mist stretched onwards as far as the eye could see. It swirled around and against her, cool and damp. An eerie quietness filled the glade but What Comes After did not feel scared. She felt relieved, and let out a deep sigh. It felt good to be alone, as if a burden had been lifted off her back.

This was a graveyard, or so she had heard. Long ago stories said that a Legendary who once lost his loved one cursed the swamp and died here. Riverrun had said it was only a story, after all, what Legendary would curse the swamp? It seemed absurd and yet she was here. Perhaps it was only another grove in the swamp, or perhaps it was something different, something a little unusual. She did not know, but she had come anyways.

It was like waking up from a dream to him, suddenly breathless and gasping, disoriented. Bright blue eyes peeked from the heavy lids, a cold shiver down his spins As far as he could see, he did not know where he was, nor did it really matter to him. A gentle breeze being the only friend that was familiar to him. He was alone.

"Where..." his voice was cool, smooth, cold bright eyes watching the gentle mist linger in the air. Even his loyal swan wasn't to be found anywhere, his only usual comfort, the one being that easily grounded him. It didn't matter if it was an eerie cursed graveyard or a field of green scattered with vivid and lively flowers. He was lost, and he wanted to be found.

He lifted his head, finding himself nestled against a high tree. And with that, Windchill stood up slowly, taking long languid steps and walking as if he was part of the mist that hung in the air. It was time to leave.

A whisper, it was only a moment, a slight change in the air that could easily be attributed to the wind, but she swore it was a whisper. "A ghost...?" She asked the mist, but there was no response. The mist hung heavy and dank around her, a thick blanket of silence. It did not matter, she was in no rush. After stood still, and she waited.

Soon, the mist shifted. It seemed to twist and churn, and she knew something was coming. Was it a ghost? The owner of the whisper she swore she heard? Or was it something else entirely? Apprehension and equal parts curiosity ran through After's veins. She could feel the reverberations of steps in the ground and it was only a matter of time before the mists parted.

A buck appeared from the mist and she raised her eyes to meet his and found them an icy blue.

He took small careful steps, eyes focused down but he could see nothing, the white mist thickly covering the ground. But then his ears heard something-- he was sure of it, it wasn't the voice of the swamp, that he was sure of. Could it be someone who could save him?

And immediately when the icy air had parted, he saw a figure-- a gentle vision riddled with a bright red. But he felt drawn to her, he needed this stranger.

He was a little shy in his look, bright blues staring back and observing her carefully. "Hello.." the buck's voice was calm and smooth. "Hello, please stay." Windchill said in quiet askstance, taking a few more steps towards her-- elated with any company at this moment.

He was closer, closer and then he was right there. After raised her head and before she really knew what she was doing she promised him, "I'll stay. I won't go away."

Now that they were this close, she could see that he was comely. His coat was tan, splotched with white, but in tones that did not remind her of her siblings. It was odd how something could be so similar yet so different. She raised her eyes to his again and found them mesmerizing.

"Are you a specter, a ghost of a scorned lover? For they say this place is cursed and haunted."

She came closer and he was immediately calmed. Maybe he was too trustful, yet her soft coat and gentle way about her made him think that she was like him, she was on his side. His bright blue eyes looked at her interested, grateful.

His breath showed as he spoke, cold vapor from his lips. "I am not so sure," Windchill started, looking around the desolate place. "I am Windchill--- I-- know that I am alive, but --- no. Perhaps you're the one to take me to rest." The buck noted the bright red splotches on her, a bit alarmed but his disposition remained the same with her.

"But if this place is dangerous, then we must go."
To where, he didn't exactly know, he had woken up beside a tree with no memory and alone. But what he did know that he wouldn't let her go.

"No." She paused, the breath caught in her throat, "No, I have not come to take you beyond."

She took a step forward, closer until she could feel the soft heat emenating from his side. No, this buck was surely alive. What Comes After was not sure if that made her feel safer or if it made her feel disappointed.

"If you are not a specter then we do not have anything to worry about. Do you know the story of this place?"
