As she hooked her guardian up to the rickety old cart, patting him on the nose and thanking him, he tossed his head. The buck didn't much mind pulling the cart into town. He'd done it since the family's mule had passed away not long ago, and he was plenty strong enough to. Besides, it meant Andie would share plenty of treats with him on the way back. She always did.
For now, though, they both focused on the trip ahead. It would probably be slow, at least until they got to the main road, the snow was up around their ankles. "Hopefully there won't be any roadblocks," Andie muttered. "I'm sure there have been some accidents." The deer, quite obviously, didn't answer, but snorted because he had heard her voice. He could tell she was simply growing restless already.
