Another day and more places to explore!
At least that was the goal Thea had as she left home to join the busy world outside. The city was so full of life on sunny days that it was hard not to bump into someone when one was careless. Yet Thea didn't seem to mind as the little ball of energy moved through the people. She had new adventures to go on and no one was going to stand in her way!
Today, she had hoped to venture out towards the Northern Lake. It was supposed to be a beautiful place but she hadn't been in some time. Maybe it was just meant to be.
With that troublesome little smirk, Thea turned the corner to head in the general direction.

Kadryn was out stretching her legs and walking to Ashen City on her way to deliver her orbs. She didn't want to hand them over after all the hard work she'd put into gathering them, but it was required and she was supposed to follow the rules... Well, you were also supposed to go to school, but she'd managed to dodge that rather nicely by ditching and sleeping! So why couldn't she get out of going to Ashen City? She hated that place with its cramped streets and loud noise and weird smells. The noise just irritated her and the smells clashed: dirt and food and people. Ik! And there was no sky-line! Kadryn liked to be able to see a long distance and horizons! She knew a dragon couldn't sneak up on her in the city, but still.. Dangerous things could be here.....Maybe... Alright, that sounded like an excuse to her...
As she was stalking the streets towards the Citadel, she turned a corner and ran into something. Hitching her mace higher on to her shoulder strap to keep it from falling off, she looked down to see what had bounced off her. At least she was tall enough with strong muscles so that she was no longer the one bouncing!

It appeared the corner had other ideas in mind than letting the little one get out of the city uninterrupted. In what should have been a clean sweep to the outside, Thea was bouncing backwards and finding herself on her rear end.
Looking upward in the direct of what stopped her, the little lady's smirk became almost a scowl as she glared up at the older Orderlite. "Hey! That wasn't very nice." Thea called out as she pushed herself back onto her feet. Brushing off her clothes, Thea continued "You are stopping me on my adventure."
The girl wasn't at all concerned about the other or what she was carrying. She was more upset that her energy escape had been halted.

Kadryn was about to offer a word of apology and a hand up, but the pale Orderite that she'd run into had other ideas. Well! What a rude person! Kadryn thought as she looked down at the scowling little girl.
"Not very nice? All I did was turn a corner...." She tilted her head and appraised the other girl. Small but neat, she reminded Kadryn of Eanah with her fancy outfit that wasn't suitable for travel at all.
"An adventure? Sounds more fun then this noisy place," She muttered to herself. "Want some company? If, that is, you are leaving this bothersome city."
A perfectly acceptable excuse to avoid this city and her duty to turn in her beloved orbs!

At first reaction, Thea was about ready to flat out refuse the offer. Why would someone else want to come with her yet alone why would she want them? But her momentary scan of the woman in front of her had stopped the little one from saying that blunting.
"You know how to use that?" Thea asked pointing to the mace she was carrying. The weapon would be great to have along if it wasn't just for show. Far too many just seemed to have them around for decoration...
"I am leaving the city for now. Heading to the North Lake and then who knows. It's a good day to explore unseen places!" Her purple eyes seemed to sparkle as she said that. Sure the city had it's fun places as well but she knew most of them. Getting out and about, now that was a heart racer.
"I guess you can come if you like...but don't slow me down."

Kadryn smirked at the apprentice's question.
"Know how to use it? Well, you could say that... you could also say birds know how to fly..." She'd gone through so many fights with it that it had ceased to be a mere weapon and had become an extension of her arm.
"North lake? I live there. So yeah, I think I can keep up. And I do agree with you about the day; it's always a good day to go exploring." Kadryn thought for a moment, perhaps she should ask if this one wanted to come with her to the Kawyn Ruins? She'd always meant to go there, but had gotten lost and distracted by Api the last time she'd tried... Which, now that she thought about it, was when she had been about as old as this child in front of her.
"There's some ruins a little east of Lake Tyfuel, I've never gone there but have been meaning too for quite awhile. You want to come? Oh, and I'm Kadryn. " She held out her hand to shake.

Thea's eyes seemed more interested when she heard the tall woman's response. So the mace wasn't for show. That was a great thing already. Yet to hear that she knew the North Lake? Now Thea was really interested.
"Sounds like you really know your way around then." Thea smiled up at her and extended her own hand. "They call me Thea. And the ruins would be ideal! Not many people go there it seems."
Looking around at the shops, she then turned her eyes back to Kadryn. "All too busy making a profit to care what is out there."
Shaking it off, Thea started past Kadryn. "Well! Let's Go!"

Yes! An acceptable reason to avoid this city successfully found! Kadryn grinned and sauntered after Thea as she left the city.
As they walked, Kadryn thought of what Thea had muttered about profit; she definitely agreed with it. That was one of the reasons she avoided cities, too many people only concerned with material items and not taking the time to appreciate what they already had in the form of family and friends.
“It would be better if we flew, Thea; the Ruins are a fair distance from here. And it’d be easier to avoid Dragons that way so we won’t get slowed down by a fight. Ah! Did you bring a lunch with you? Cause if we go to the Ruins we’ll be out a long while and you’ll need food. I can always hunt, but again, it takes time.” Kadryn couldn't help herself, her big sister instincts were kicking in. Man, I'm getting more like my Ma every day, she thought to herself. Hope I don't turn into the worry wort that she is...

Thea wouldn't admit to many that she did enjoy having coin in her pocket and was a bit of a treasure seeker herself but no where near the merchants that lined the city. They would sell their own mother if they could!
But those were behind them now and Thea was outside ready to see the world again...if she just wasn't limited to size and being weaponless.
Kadryn's voice woke Thea up from her trance and the little Adapt turned to look at the female with utter confusion. "Are you always like this?" She asked before realizing that the female was right about a few things.
"I don't have lunch but hunting sounds like fun! Mama won't let me go out and try." She seemed rather upset about the thought and looked away annoyed.

Kadryn shook her head at herself, she really needed to stop being a big sister to all those smaller and younger than her! Fallon adored being babied, but maybe the older children didn't..especially when they were supposed to be old enough to go out dragon hunting.....
She then smothered a smile at Thea's response to her nagging. Well, this one must be either the oldest or a lone child! A younger sibling would have just rolled their eyes and sighed!
"Yup! I tend to mother younger people.. probably cause I'm too used to my baby brother and you all remind me of him. Well, since you don't have lunch, then I suppose I'll have to show you how to hunt!"
Kadryn smiled to herself, this little city girl seemed to want to do stuff that country folk did. Perhaps the city wasn't so full of boring and aloof people after all! She stretched her legs out and began to lead Thea off the main roads and out into the wilderness.
"We'll just cut across the small woodlands here then fly over the lake to get to where the Ruins are. We'll land over there then we can either walk if your wings are tired or fly if you want." She looked back and grinned at Thea, "Kinda glad you came along, I dislike being in crowded areas full of buildings! Exploring is so much better!"

Thea looked up at the woman when she was suddenly compared to a 'baby'. It was no a complement and it certainly didn't sit well with the firecracker that was this little body. She was an only child but her elder cousin had always been like a big brother to her. Maybe that was why she wasn't used to the idea of an older 'sister'.
"Why do I remind you of him?" She asked cocking an eyebrow as they walked along. Even though she was raised in the city, Thea adored survival things. Had she been able to protect herself, she knew she would leave home.
"I'll be able to keep up." Thea said smiling. "And finding new places. Meeting new people. Trying new things. Even finding treasure. I can't wait to get out in the world."

Kadryn thought on Thea's question. Why did she try to mother those younger than her?
"A lot of Apprentices reminded me of him; he has the same open and honest outlook that many younger people do, plus many Apprentices still have the same eyes he does, ones that show every emotion so honestly... well, the ones who haven't been scarred by life already, that is. Guess I just got a Big Sis attitude when it comes to the innocent or young...." She smiled, "Or it could be because Fallon has just trained me too well! I see smaller people and treat them like he wants to be treated!" She laughed.
From Thea's next comment Kadryn felt that this girl was one she could be good friends with, one who liked many of the same things that she loved.
"I agree! Though the new people part used to scare me. I never know why people stick to the city when there's a whole world out here for exploring! Why be cooped up in a walled place when you can go out and see so many different things and places?" Kadryn waved her arms out to indicate the wide world that she adored.

Thea's eyes narrowed and then raised her left one while the other closed. "Kadryn, you are a strange one."She chuckled and walked on. "I'll tell you what I tell my cousin. Walking up in front of her, Thea turned back to face Kadryn and took on a fighting stance. She looked like she was about to kick something. "I'll be okay."
As she came out of the form, Thea only shrugged. "Once I pass my exams, I want to travel and trade and..." Her eyes and face seemed to sparkle. "Find real treasure!"

Kadryn grinned broadly and fluffed Thea's hair.
"Aww, you're a little spitfire aren't you!" She laughed. "Though you might want to work on your stance a little, your feet aren't quite rooted strongly enough to the ground. The more rooted you are, the more power you can put into your hits."
Kadryn looked about and saw a figure stalking them form the shadows. When she saw the flash of silvery scales along a broad body with a broad flat head, Kadryn recognized it as an animal she had hunted before. An animal whose meat was part of her Aunt's special dish at Wind Cafe. Smirking to herself at her luck, she turned and grinned at Thea.
"You are about to have your first adventure! We are being stalked by an Oralrik right now. I've fought these before and they are difficult, but definitely taste good when fried with some chili spices. Looks like we get to hunt as well as some fun!" She grinned. " Be careful of their claws and teeth. That large mouth of theirs can swallow a small child whole. I'm all for waiting till it attacks or jumping it right now, you?"

Thea's face seemed to drop a little bit as Kadryn fluffed her. She suddenly felt more like a mop than a warrior. It wasn't very nice.
But she did have a point. Her stance was a bit too airy and she could have been knocked over easily had someone really been trying. She would have to take Kadryn's advice next time and see if it had more of an affect.
When a noise caused her to turn, Thea saw the creature as well. It was interesting looking. Those scales had a strange shine to them that made her wonder how much they could bring at the market. "You just made my day." Thea beamed a dark smile as she glanced back at the taller woman.
"Why wait? It might never come at us. Let's go in swinging!" Thea grinned again as she quickly stretched her neck.
