Families fought, simple as that.
It was the fight right now that brought Soren back out here. His mother did not like that he was going off towards the borders on a daily basis, or even stepping foot in the rogue lands for hours on end. The pale lion argued with her that he was fine; nearly an adult, he could definitely make his own decisions! But she wouldn’t hear any of it.
Soren huffed a bit, his normally good mood being brought down by the tension that still hung in the air. Part of him thought of just leaving for a bit, to prove his point how he could care for himself, but he couldn’t bring himself to do so. No matter how much a fight the family would go through, he would still stick by her no matter what.
One day he hoped she would see things his way.
With a sigh, dark brown eyes scanned the Pride lands, resting on Pride Rock, before turning towards the rogue lands once more.

The lioness had just woken up from an afternoon nap and was ready to venture into the rogue lands to check the status of herd movement. Alert as ever, it did not take her long to notice a solo figure examining the scenery. Fefe, well-meaning as she was, couldn't resist the call of an adolescent male alone, and looking a bit forlorn. She was, after all, a mother at heart.
Knowing full well the herds would wait--they didn't move particularly fast, and the Pridelands had no shortage of hunters--Fefe changed course and meandered slowly in the direction of the male.
As she neared, she bobbed her head at him in greeting. "Halo, fellow," she rumbled in his direction.
Fefe was a bulk of a lioness, hardly fat, but all raw muscle from constant hunting. Though, she was sure she had a bit more of a gut than she'd had in a long time; the Pridelands were spoiling her.
"You 'appy t'be all 'lone, like that?"

The adolescent looked up at the voice. Had he been paying attention to the beings around, he would have noticed the gray female sooner than when she had spoken; however, being too lost in thought stopped him from it.
“Hi there,” Soren greeted, putting on his best attempt to be in cheery. His previous actions with the family were finding this task rather difficult, but the other lioness didn’t need his hardships brought onto herself.
The male shrugged a bit. His mane (or lack thereof) wasn’t the only thing showed his age, but the his body form as well. He hadn’t quite grown the muscle mass to fill out his body, leaving him a rather lanky creature.
“Not being alone, no.” Part of him wondered why he was out here by himself, other than time to calm down. He hadn’t really thought to bring others out here with him at the time he came, though if he had, maybe his mood wouldn’t have been so sullen. Perhaps he would meet another crossing from rogue territory to seek a home here.
“Though, being alone helps me to think.” Already the pale male could feel the tension leaving. Maybe being alone was a bad idea. He was always a social creature.
“What brings you out here?” Soren may have seen the lioness before, a huntress, was she not? He concluded that his prior question was a stupid one to ask. She was likely hunting.

"Ah," the lioness answered as she swept some twigs away with one paw. It didn't take her long to settle herself down in a spot next to him.
"'eh, Jus' scouting." There was a dismissive tone in her voice. Hunts could be done without scouts; they just made them work more flawlessly.
Fefe's eyes and nose stayed mostly trained on the scenery, however she would glance at him now and then, as if making sure he was still there.
"Somethin' on your mind then?"

“Indeed.” But Soren didn’t know how to express it. She was a stranger lioness to him, it didn’t feel right expressing everything about the problems in his life to her.
However, he found the words spilling out of his mouth. Perhaps it was because he was still ‘young’ and didn’t know how to keep things to himself. Maybe he just wanted to hear others opinions on the subject matter.
“How do you tell your family that things aren’t always as they seem?” He asked the female. “Traveling into the roguelands, for example.” Soren’s dark brown eyes seemed too long to be out there, just for a bit. There was so much adventure out there waiting for him. But who was he kidding? There may not be any way to prove things were not all bad to his overly protective mother.

To say that Fefe was surprised by the words out of his mouth was not quite an accuracy. However, the lioness' brows raised, as if she were intrigued, and a low hum came from the back of her throat as she went into great thought.
"Ah, big problems." The tone did not contain any sarcasm. There was a nod of her head, and she consulted the swaying grass. "A good family doesn' see the same," she advised him. Fefe was not the kind of mother that condoned argument or sharp words, but she appreciated differences in opinion for the information that it gave her. One lion could not possibly see all the outcomes.
"Ya thinkin' 'bout heading out 'dere?" It was a logical conclusion to make. It was either that, or one of his parents wanted to travel, and he did not agree.
"Roguelands 's too short a word t'be all th'space out there." The lioness' accent lapsed in and out as she spoke. Fefe had grown used to the local dialect, and it had slowly begun to seep in to her natural, thick tongue.
