Closing the door behind him, Jake let out a heavy sigh and slumped down on the floor, closing his eyes.
"I... don't know. Everything feels so surreal. Fighting the horsemen, our time on the island... I don't know what I'm doing anymore."
He frowned. "The thing about us, or, well, hunters in general actually fighting those things long before, and how the horsemen had nearly decimated all hunters in the past?"
"Yah..."
He stiffened.
"..."
"All I know was that I'M supposed to be the one in a coma, or possibly dead. I saw that girl... ghoul thing attack me before. YOU know that if she didn't restrain herself during our first meeting, I would have been done for. This time... she didn't hold back. The last I remember was her kick shattering the FEAR shield, yet when I came to, HE was there, and my FEAR shield was completely in tact. This wasn't the first time that happened. And then all of a sudden, BOTH of them collapse. Just..."
Jake groaned, pulling at his hair.
"I just want to know what the hell HAPPENED." <... You know what? You need to get off this island and clear your head. Thinking about horsemen and that HH mission isn't going to help you. I think portals might still be open. Maybe you could-> "I have THINGS to do. I don't have TIME to go do petty things like sight-see or shop or whatever the hell it is you want me to do."
"Shut up. I'm technically an adult. Besides, I have mission reports to do."
Getting up, he went to his table... only to realize the mission reports weren't on his desk.
...Thanks for pointing that out, jackass.
He knelt down, grumbling, as he began to pick up the sheets. In the process, he managed to uncover a book. "This is..."
"... When did I even pick up this thing?"GrnGriff sdlkfjsdkf OMG hi, have a solo. OTL

Armagnac grumbled slightly. Stop grumbling about it. You don't have to worry. Sherry sighed as she walked. Her pace was leisurely; she was certainly not in a huge rush at the moment. So, you are worried? I'll try my best not to annoy you, then. Sherry shook her head and smiled slightly. She was still fairly certain some part of Armagnac actually cared about here, despite the lindwyrm's denials. Sherry knew it could simply be wishful thinking on her part, but she liked to think it wasn't. Of course, Sherry had been doing a lot of hoping lately. Try as she might to not hope and not think, she found herself still doing it. And it was stupid and aggravating and embarrassing (thank everything that Armagnac was the only one who knew) and she had decided she would try her best to not let it interfere with everything or anything. And the best way to do that was clearly to pretend like she didn't like Jake in that way at all. Best. Plan. Ever. But she still wanted to ask him about that book she'd seen. And, you know, maybe hang out with him. So, when she reached his door, she knocked. And waited. Since they'd talked about that.

His head snapped up at the knock, and he stared at the door. He had JUST gotten back to his room. Who in the world-
Grumbling, he tucked the book under his arm and went to open the door.
"...Oh. It's you."GrnGriff Manners. He has them none.

Sherry couldn't lie. She was half expecting him to not be in, or to at least not answer the door. Something akin to relief washed over her when the door opened. She was happy to see him, even though she tried to keep it from showing on her face. His reaction set her back just a bit, though, and Sherry gave Jake a quizzical look. "Of course it's me. Why, were you expecting someone else?"

He stared at her a moment longer and sighed. "I suppose not."
Stepping back, he matched her quizzical look with one of his own. "Anyways, what do you want."

"I wanted to come by and ask you a question," she gave him a small smile. He seemed...well, pretty much like Jake. And not grumpy. That was good.
"Last time I was by I saw you had a book." Her eyes flickered down. It could have been that book, right there, that he was holding. "I wanted to ask you what it was about." She blinked at him, still smiling.

Seeing her gaze linger on the book tucked under his arm, he pulled it out.
"What, this one?"
The nergal was practically bouncing with excitement.
Jake huffed and rolled his eyes. "Apparently I took this book out a while ago. I can't ever remember doing so, but it seems to be one of those weird artifact places we went to last time."

"I think so, yeah," Sherry was nodding. She arched an eyebrow. "Really?" She looked at the book for a moment, then back to Jake. "Like the mountain? Are you thinking of going?" She hoped he'd say yes. And she really hoped he'd invite her along again.

I never had one.

"Oh." Sherry didn't exactly hide her disappointment. Heck, she even thought she felt then tiniest twinge of it from Armagnac. It was possible she imagined that, though. Sherry stood, returning Jake's stare. The world would never know if she just wasn't getting the hint, or if she was blatantly ignoring it. (It was likely some mix of the two.) She stared for a while, before letting her eyes wander back down the book. They she looked back at him. "Why not? The mountain wasn't that bad, and it was totally worth it." She absentmindedly patted at the flask on her hip. "What kind of place is this?" She held out a hand, indicating that she'd like to look at the book. "If it's someplace interesting, then I might like to give it a try."

That was one thing Jake couldn't deny. He had been usin that dagger nearly any chance he had. It ALMOST saved his life back at the haunted house, but then that Baku...
What? No I'm not.
He stared at Sherry blankly, finally realizing she wanted to look at it. "Oh, here. Knock yourself out." <...> I meant FIGURATIVELY.
He really didn't want to deal with TWO comatose hunters.

"Thanks," the reply was automatic as Sherry took the book. She glanced down at it, turning it over in her hands. "Hm. An island?" She looked back at Jake again. "Why'd you pick this one?" As she asked, she took a step towards him, or past him even, heading into his room.

Jake only watched wordlessly as Sherry walked past him into his room. If he didn't know any better, it was almost like she was acting like this was her room too.
Letting out a heavy sigh, too weary to argue, he closed the door and turned to face her. "What part of 'I don't remember' do you not understand? It was probably his doing." he muttered, gesturing to the keys on the table.
"If you want to go so badly, then go. Get out of my room." One of these days, he was going to establish to her and Solia that this room was off-limits to girls, ESPECIALLY them.
Don't care.
Not my problem.

"Oh?" Sherry remarked, her gaze moving to the table then back to the book. "Well, it looks interesting." She opened the front cover of the book even as she moved toward his bed.
"If you want to go so badly, then go. Get out of my room."
Sherry froze, book open and obviously a heartbeat away from making herself very much at home by planting herself on his bed again. There was no mistaking those words. He'd clearly rather not have her here. But he had just shut the door. "Um, you really don't want to join me? I'd rather not go alone."

What did it take to get THROUGH to this girl? He opened his mouth, ready to tell her he had no desire to spend the day with her, when Chester interrupted him.
What part of "no" do you not understand? I just want to spend the day by myself. Is that so much to ask for?
I- He grumbled, heading to the door, pulling it open. Turning back towards Sherry, he jerked a thumb over his shoulder.
"Out. Now."
