Name: Rebecca Ann Suite

Nickname: Becky. Nobody calls her Rebecca unless she's in trouble.

Age: 10

Birthday: June 29th

Sign: Cancer

Gemstone: Pearl

Blood Type: B+

Fav. Food: Scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, even oatmeal- Becky loves all kinds of breakfast food, and will eat it at all hours of the day if she's allowed to.

Hated Food: Any kind of seafood. Fish are friends, not food! (It's possible that Becky has watched Finding Nemo one too many times.)

School: Knightside Academy

Hobbies:

Under the Sea: Even though Becky has only been to the beach a couple of times, she is absolutely fascinated by the ocean. She constantly pesters her brother for swimming lessons so she'll be able to go into the water the next time they visit. Her half of her bedroom is plastered with posters of tropical fish and dolphins and whales, and is home to her large shell collection, the contents of which are mostly gifts from family friends. She has seen The Little Mermaid more than a hundred times and knows all of the songs by heart. Once she realized she couldn't be a mermaid when she grew up, she was torn between aiming to be a marine biologist or a professional surfer. For the moment, her goal is to be the first professionally surfing marine biologist, so she practices hanging ten on her mother's ironing board when no one's looking, and reads all the books she can about undersea creatures.

Hop, Skip, Jump!: Like most kids, Becky can't wait until recess. Not because she doesn't like school, or even because she wants to goof off, but because she loves playground games. Jump rope is her favorite, and she's learning how to double dutch. Hopscotch and Leapfrog are two others that she really enjoys, especially with a big group of kids. Whenever she doesn't have afterschool activities, she tries to get whichever sibling is watching her to take her to the park, so she can work on her jumping or join a game already in progress.

Fairies and Puppies and Monsters, Oh My!: Not only does Becky have an account on Neopets, Moshi Monsters, and an assortment of other virtual pet websites, but she set up accounts for the rest of her family as well, and manages all of them. She loves choosing out new pets and buying them things and taking care of them, and her dozens of pixellated pets almost make up for the lack of a real one. Becky spends about an hour a day taking care of her digital menagerie, longer if she can get away with it. With only one computer in the house, however, she usually can't spend more time than that. So instead she prints out pictures of her pets at the library and tapes them to her notebooks, and loves to show them off to her friends.

Scouting Ahead: Becky, like her sister before her, is a proud Girl Scout, and has been one since she was in first grade. Currently she's a Girl Scout Junior, but is looking forward to becoming a Cadette next year. Her afternoons and weekends often feature scouting activities like volunteering and nature hikes and cookie sales, and while some outings are more fun than others, Becky is enthusiastic about all of them. Girl Scouts get to learn all sorts of cool things and do neat activities and help people out, and they get badges for all of it! Becky doesn't have a full uniform, but she inherited her sister's vest, which doesn't match the others, but to her that just makes it even cooler. Merit badges push this from "fun" to "awesome," and she loves showing off her new ones as she earns them.

Virtues:

Open Mind, Open Heart: Becky is almost universally accepting of people and ideas. She doesn't understand concepts like prejudice or peer pressure, because to her, everyone is a wonderful human being. So she's usually the first one to go talk to that shy new girl, or the transfer student who's the subject of a dozen scary rumors. Everyone is a potential friend, regardless of who they are or what they believe. Purely negative ideas like racism will make her think less of a person, but otherwise, even if she disagrees with what someone believes, she's willing to accept and even like them for who they are.

Cheer Squad: You can do it, yes you can! A believer in human potential, Becky will always encourage someone to keep trying when they get down, or reassure them that just because they failed once doesn't mean they will again. Everything is possible as long as you believe! Her motivational speeches aren't the most sophisticated, and she tends to sound like a greeting card, but the feeling behind her messages is what's most important. And even if the speeches themselves are kind of silly, they're always heartfelt.

The Best Policy: As long as Becky can remember, it's been drilled into her that nothing is more important than telling the truth. In her house, lying is given sterner punishments than offenses like getting into fights or forgetting to do homework. As a result, while Becky may get into a scuffle every now and then, she will never outright lie, even when the truth will get her into trouble. When the truth isn't an option- for example, if she was sworn to secrecy- she would do everything to avoid the subject, or to tell parts of the truth. Lying is serious business and Becky would only consider it if there was absolutely no way to tell the truth without someone getting seriously hurt.

Eyes on the Prize: Once Becky starts on a task, she'll do whatever she can to finish it. She's not good at multitasking; her talent lies in doing one thing from start to finish. For a child, she has excellent focus, and is able to tune out a lot of outside distractions in order to get work done. Obstacles don't slow her down for long, since she's able to work around them or, in drastic cases, plow through them. Her determination to finish what she starts makes it a fairly safe bet that if she begins a project, it will be completed, no matter how much effort she has to put into it.

Flaws:

Don't Leave Meeeeee!: As the youngest of four siblings, Becky is used to chaos, and it doesn't bother her. Instead, the lack of hustle and bustle caused by people nearby makes her nervous. She's the type of person who can't concentrate on anything unless she knows that she's with other people. Being left alone absolutely terrifies her, and whenever she tries to act independently she finds herself running for a friend or family member before much time has passed. It's not that she's not capable of taking care of herself, but without knowing that someone's got her back if she needs it, Becky is too scared to take action.

Spotlight Stealing Squad: Want to see Becky's merit badges? Or her Neopets? Or watch her do the backstroke? No matter what the occasion, she is always looking for a way to be special. This is her means of standing out in a family of four or a class of thirty, and for feeling important even though her family isn't rich or influential. Becky has a need to be admired and appreciated, and will manufacture a means to that end if she has to. She won't lie outright, but she will exaggerate, or glorify a mundane utility, like her ability to wash dishes quickly. She will also challenge anyone who dares to say that her Faerie Kougra isn't totally amazing, or that it's no big deal to walk backwards while blindfolded.

The Ugly Truth: Honesty isn't always pretty. Becky takes telling the truth seriously, and she feels that you absolutely have to know that your sculpture looks kind of like mashed potatoes. If she's concerned about the effect that her words might have, she'll try to sugarcoat things, but these attempts are kind of feeble since she's not willing to tell white lies. (For example- your sculpture may look like mashed potatoes, but mashed potatoes are really yummy!) Usually she doesn't understand how being truthful can be bad, so she can come off kind of harsh. Becky tells it like it is, even when those around her would be happier if she just put a sock in it.

Little Sister Life Skills: Having three older siblings has forced Becky to resort to extreme methods to get what she wants. The others have more experience and can win most conventional arguments. Becky, on the other hand, uses tears and tantrums to make things go her way. When that doesn't work, a little bit of blackmail is usually enough to seal the deal. The results of this have been good enough that she enjoys being annoying and pushing people's buttons, just to see people's reactions (and to get more blackmail fodder). Becky can often get away with this kind of behavior at home, but acting purposefully irritating or deceptive with people she isn't related to doesn't usually yield the same results. That doesn't stop her from trying, though, and her antics will often get her into trouble.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Teal, rounded.

Hair: A somewhat desaturated lilac or lavender color, usually worn in a high ponytail or loose with small pigtails. Becky's hair is wavy and comes to just below shoulder length. I'm rather partial to this hairstyle but shorter and with a lighter shade of purple.

Face: A facely face. Becky does wear glasses, with silvery frames.

Clothes: Knightside uniform! Otherwise, she tends to wear somewhat faded unisex shirts and shorts, and somewhat less faded dresses that are rather out of style, as a result of being the youngest of four. She doesn't get much in the way of new clothes, but she's pretty used to it by now, and isn't old enough to care too much about fashion.

Senshi: Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia, Chibi Senshi of Tides
This is a mouthful, so she tends to shorten her name to Sailor Chibi Cassie, or just Cassie. Also, it's way cuter!

Challenge: The tide has turned! -> Dare to dance the tide! -> Time and tide wait for no man!

Fuku Colour:
Main Color: Some sort of oceanic blue or teal color?
Secondary Color: Sandy-tan, or some other beachy color? Gold might be cool too.

Fuku: Beach themed! The only parts I really care about are that she have some sort of jellies and a tiara with five focal points (shells maybe?) arranged in a W, for the five main stars in Cassiopeia. Oh, and she has a stuffed starfish that she uses in her attacks. I'd also like her to keep the glasses, or have something over her eyes (goggles? visor?) rather than magical contact lenses, please. Everything else is CC because I cannot visualize agh.

Sailor Scout Attack: Rising Tide!
Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia throws her stuffed starfish, causing sandy water to emerge in front of her and flow towards where the starfish landed. The watery area is about a meter wide, roughly ankle deep at its deepest, and as long as the distance between her starfish and herself. It succeeds in making the floor wet and slippery and soaking the shoes of anyone in the vicinity, possibly getting sand and grit in them, but it doesn't do much else. The tide takes about thirty seconds to come in, after which point the water flows away, leaving only small sandy pools behind. Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia can use this attack twice per battle.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: High Tide!
Second verse, same as the first. This time the water comes to Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia's knees (mid-shin for the average adult), and can impede movement or even knock especially unprepared opponents over. The sand in the water can inflict minor scratches or irritation on exposed skin. As with the previous attack, the water takes about thirty seconds to gather before flowing away, meaning that the current is stronger. After the tide goes out, small sandy pools are left behind. Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia can use this attack twice per battle.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Riptide! (other ideas: King Tide, Storm Tide)
Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia throws her stuffed starfish, and as in her first two attacks, a wave of sandy water emerges, flowing away from her and towards her starfish. It's the same depth as in High Tide, and takes the same amount of time to gather. After thirty seconds have passed, the water flows out very quickly, simulating a riptide. This has a strong chance of knocking enemies off their feet, and of inflicting more severe scratches on exposed skin if the enemy lands in the water before the tide is gone. Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia can comfortably use this attack once per battle, a second use is only possible if she hasn't used any of her other attacks, and would exhaust her.

All attacks are started by Sailor Chibi Cassiopeia throwing her stuffed starfish, which determines the size of the tide. Her average throw is about six feet, but it varies based on posture, energy levels, and any buffs/debuffs that affect her agility and physical strength. Buffs/debuffs that affect magical strength would not change the size of the tide, but instead its depth and speed. When the tide flows out at the end of her attack, the starfish will usually ride the tide back to Chibi Cassiopeia, but if she misses catching it she'll have to chase it down if she wants to attack again. Since she can't attack without her starfish, an effective way to keep her from attacking is to simply keep it away from her. Also, all of Chibi Cassiopeia's attacks have friendly fire effects- if you get too close to the tidal area, you're going to have soggy shoes at the very least. Even she's not immune; while the tide emerges in front of her, she can stray into the water if she's not careful and be affected by her own attack.

Reserved for notes and odds and ends that don't belong in the profile.

Hey DivineSaturn!

In looking over your profile, I must say I really, really enjoyed it! I think that you’ve written a very adorable and believable character, and in going back and re-reading it both a second and third time, I can’t find anything to comment on with the civilian profile, so thank you for making my first crit back on staff very simple!
When I get to the powered side of the profile I just have a few notes for you!

For the attacks themselves, I like how you include the note that the waters can affect everyone, I think that makes it quite a big drawback to them being so seemingly strong! I think that you’ve played with the whole tide concept very well, and you’ve really captured the essence of it in your attacks, though I want to caution you on the stuffed starfish.

In reading your attacks, I see how you’ve really worked it into them, and how you’ve pretty much based everything around the plush animal and the plush animal alone. I’ve been under the impression that we have been trying to take the element of stuffed animals away from chibi senshi however! They’re cute, you can’t deny that, but in a way, they really don’t work with what chibi senshi are supposed to be. Since Cassiopeia will one day become a full fledged senshi, what will become of the stuffed starfish? Will it simply go away or will she be forever stuck holding it?

If you really want her to keep the stuffed animal, I can trial stamp you, and leave the final ruling up to one of the GM’s, so just let me know! Otherwise I really, really adore the character and I wish you the best of luck in getting her!

Thanks for the crit! I'm glad Becky reads well and seems to be a believable character- and a fun one, since she's fun to write too!

As for the starfish, my main goal with that was to give the attack a number of ways to backfire or otherwise fail, since my impression of chibis is that success should not be guaranteed (like with Chibimoon's Pink Sugar Heart Attack in the anime). At the same time, I wanted to do something a little more interesting than "maybe it works, maybe it doesn't." So with the starfish, Cassie can have it stolen and be unable to attack. Or she could have a bad throw and waste an attack. Or throw it the wrong way, and accidentally attack an ally. And so on- I wanted to create lots of options and ways to be creative, while still keeping the attack realistically weak for a chibi (the tide is pretty shallow and, at 3'x6'on average, very localized and easy to just walk around or jump over). I'm just not sure how to get the same effect without having a physical object as a catalyst. The stuffed starfish was just chosen as the catalyst for cuteness value, and to work with the other chibis. I chose a starfish instead of another sea creature because I felt that it would be particularly unwieldy and difficult to throw effectively, which was basically the point.

I admit, I haven't put a lot of thought into Cassie as a full-fledged senshi, since that's a good ways off. I feel that if/when she makes that transition, she'll be able to wield her attack with less chance of failure, making the catalyst less necessary. Two ways of handling this come to mind:
1) The attack can auto-fire, with a set water volume, so it always works and is the same every time, like most senshi attacks.
2) The phsyical catalyst turns into one made of energy (so, for example's sake, an energy starfish) that still needs to be thrown to initiate the attack. This lessens the chance of failure, since the starfish can no longer be stolen from her, but the direction and size of the attack still depend on Cassie's pitch, leaving some room for error.
3) The starfish becomes integrated into her uniform somehow- her brooch, a belt, whatever- so it's smaller, but can be removed to perform the attack. Once thrown, it would disappear and reappear on her fuku as per uniform guidelines. This is meant to have much of the flexibility of #2, while keeping the object physical, in case physical catalyst -> energy catalyst is too much of a leap.

Of these, I strongly prefer option #2 or #3, since they have more openings for creative use of the attack. These openings are mainly meant for narrative flavor- she'll never be able to throw her catalyst THAT far, even with practice or buffs. (In terms of her throw, I tried throwing a pillow and got it about eight feet, so I knocked a couple of feet off for Becky's smaller reach and lesser strength- do those numbers seem reasonable?) However, I'm aware that this is a bit outside the norm for senshi attacks, so if I'm thinking in the wrong direction, please let me know!

Long story short, the starfish was chosen to primarily to give the attack more room for failure and storytelling options, and cuteness is secondary (but always fun). If this isn't okay, I'll try to figure out a different way to get the effect that I'm going for!

Thanks again for all your help! heart
