I dont feel like explaining anything at the moment, i just have questions id love answered.

1. Why do people rape people? Is there a common factor among all rapists?
2. Why dont people understand how horrible rape is?
3. Why do rapist only searve 6 or less years in prison? Just because the victim didnt didnt physicaly die, chances are their mental state is shot - atleast for a while.
4. Why are most victims afread to speak up? Even when asked in anonymous questionares?
5. Why do people, mostly kids, joke about rape? I see tons of usernames on websites like: "iWantToRapeYou". As well as kids saying theyre going to rape their friends, and then they all laugh

May or may not add more questions
PostPosted: Tue Jan 15, 2013 6:19 pm

sadly i do not think most of this questions cannot be answered to a degree you can be comfortable with. but for the fourth one i think the answer is mostly fear.

to many humans, most i would say, the they care about image in some way, and from that you can find many of the personal reasons people can use. from a man feeling emasculated, to a women fearing that others will think her a slut and say things like ' you where asking for it'. Most humans dont like to admit when there free will is taken away on a personal level.

As for your fith and second question, for the same reason they joke about murder, shooting, or any of the billions of things they do, they can be young ignorant, and unless faced with the situation or the consequences they just cannot perceive the emotions of one who has."

This are the answers i have found that help me to understand those questions. sadly with rape it is a problem as old as our species. i doubt rape has not once been a problem.

I really wonder what goes on in a rapists brain, as well as someones brain who jokes about it, and other horrible things. Thank you for your answers :3

As far as i heard rape is a control issue thing, or territorial, just like with animals. I could be wrong though but lets see what google says http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/199211/round-rapists

1. Why do people rape people? Is there a common factor among all rapists?

A lot of people say, "rape is about control, not sex," but the truth is that it's a lot more complex than that. Every person is different, and every situation is different, so every rape is different too. Some rapists do it because it turns them on to take advantage of someone. Some do it because they want to get someone pregnant/get pregnant. Some do it because they want to give someone an STD. Some do it because they want to emotionally scar someone. Some do it to prove their strength and control. Some do it because everyone else is (gang rape) and they don't want to be the odd man out. Some do it because they think that women play hard to get and always say 'no' when they mean 'yes' or that they'll start to like it. Etc.

xChibi Cannibalx
2. Why dont people understand how horrible rape is?

Some do. That's part of why some of them do it in the first place (emotionally scarring someone). Others are just really uneducated when it comes to rape. Some guys honestly think that as long as they wear a condom, it's not rape. Others think that as long as the girl doesn't say 'no,' then it's not rape (even if she's unconscious). Etc.

xChibi Cannibalx
3. Why do rapist only searve 6 or less years in prison? Just because the victim didnt didnt physicaly die, chances are their mental state is shot - atleast for a while.

Rapists can do a longer time in prison. But most don't. In fact, most don't do any prison time at all. Most rape victims don't speak out. And even when they do, rape is incredibly difficult to prove.

xChibi Cannibalx
4. Why are most victims afread to speak up? Even when asked in anonymous questionares?

A lot of people blame the rape victim for the rape. They'll say things like, "You were passed out drunk, what did you think would happen?" or "Well, it's no wonder, look at how short your skirt was." A lot of victims don't want to deal with that in addition to what they're already going through, so they don't speak up. Some might even start to believe that it really was their fault for wearing that short skirt, or getting so drunk, or being out so late, etc. So some might even stop seeing it as "I was raped" and start seeing it as "I got what I deserved," which means they might not admit it anonymously either.

xChibi Cannibalx
5. Why do people, mostly kids, joke about rape? I see tons of usernames on websites like: "iWantToRapeYou". As well as kids saying theyre going to rape their friends, and then they all laugh

"Rape" is often used in the gaming world to mean "kicked someone's butt." For example, "Wow, that guy is good; he totally raped me." Since it's so common in the gaming world, a lot of people (especially young boys) may say it without even really thinking much about it or about what it really means. Others might say it to look tough and cool. Others might have control/dominance/rape fantasies. Others might think that since it's unlikely to happen to them, it's not a big deal. Etc.

If the way we (as a society) see and talk about rape bothers you (and it should), don't be afraid to do something about it. You can post about rape hotlines like RAINN on facebook so that any rape and molestation victims on your friends list will know where to go. You can volunteer to talk to victims at the hotline. You can look for a SlutWalk (events where people protest slut-shaming and victim blaming, especially victim blaming based on clothing) near you. You can make a donation to Vera House, volunteer at Vera House, or spread the word about Vera House on facebook. Search for and share videos of victims speaking out an YouTube. Leave a note in a bathroom. Etc. Do what you can to educate people about what rape is, to help people understand that rape is not the victim's fault, and to help encourage victims to speak out.

As we have learned in this thread, there is no one reason. *shurgs* and since we have free will sadly this is one of the concequances no matter how much we hate humanity for being able to allow this or for how little some seem to care about this subject... i think all we can do is like Lorien has said, is to educate people... I hope you have been able to deal with the truama in a pretty healthy way, and that those around you could use you as a helping hand so that they did not get drag into the darkest part of ourselves.

1. Why do people rape people? Is there a common factor among all rapists?
There can generally be various different factors, like, in the mildest cases, not understanding that the other person is not in the right mind to be asked permission for sex (drunk, high etc). A lot of it does come down to some form of hatred and thirst for power. People may say that women get raped because they're showing off their bodies, but what about the women wearing baggy sweaters and jeans, what about the women in middle eastern countries where they don't really have the option of wearing revealing clothing? And you don't force yourself inside anyone's body because you like them.
2. Why dont people understand how horrible rape is?
Because they don't want to. They don't want to acknowledge that they or people they care about could very easily be so violated - that or they may believe in the idea that, when a woman is raped, she deserves it because she is a 'slut' (even though walking round in a mini skirt, stilettos and bikini top in no way grants prior permission for sex), and therefore deserves it, or alternately that when a man is raped it is because he's gay, which is, of course, seen as a bad thing by a lot of people - even though they're forgetting that the chief part of rape is that it's nonconsensual.
3. Why do rapist only serve 6 or less years in prison? Just because the victim didnt didnt physicaly die, chances are their mental state is shot - at least for a while.
Because - and I'm not going to deny that men are raped, but I know less about things in that field - at least with women, there's still a lot of institutionalised sexism out there. Juries and judges may feel on some level that the person deserved it, and also that it can take so long to even bring a case to court that evidence becomes slim.
4. Why are most victims afread to speak up? Even when asked in anonymous questionares?
It's incredibly traumatic. Some people may have blocked it out completely from their memories, some may find even the mention of it too much or feel that their comments will somehow be traced back to them. So many people are told it's their fault, or would face severe prosecution from their families and societies.
5. Why do people, mostly kids, joke about rape? I see tons of usernames on websites like: "iWantToRapeYou". As well as kids saying theyre going to rape their friends, and then they all laugh
Because they don't get it. People think it's something that happens to other people, and it's easier to handle stuff when you make fun of it. They don't fully comprehend the seriousness and trauma that can result from being raped - plus they're taught it by adults who should know better, but make those jokes for other reasons. These jokes are what make people feel more ok with the idea of raping people as well, because they can see that people won't take it so seriously.

It started off horribley. I told a friend and she spread a rumor that i was easy and would sleep with anyone. She did this because she felt too awkward to help me when i asked for her help. That was years ago, tho, and ive slowly been able to heal by myself. My boyfriend helps me recover too; hes my hero :3

With the men getting raped, i had a guy friend who was raped in the locker room at his school. I believe he told quit a lot of people, and no one really listened, or cared. The only "good" that came out of it, people were already calling him gay because it happened that it made it easier for him to come out of the closet.

I wish more people would edjucate themselves about rape and other traumatic things.

The problem is that a lot of people don't want to be educated. and yeah, that must've been so tough for your friend :/
Apparently, a lot of male-male rapes are committed by straight men.

I dont believe it could be by a streight male. But a gay male, afraid to admit. It is better to rape and keep streight, than have consentual sex and be gay (not really, im just saying what they might be thinking).

If the rapist was a streight male raping another male, it could also be because he wanted to try it, but didnt want to ask and be called gay for experimenting.

Which leads me to: why is being gay such a horrible thing to some people? Be who you are, it is beautiful.
